We have many great reasons why you should join us at your Club and beat those Winter Blues. Your Club will be giving away over $108,000 (in total) during June and July and then in August we top it off with a SUBARU IMPREZA 2.0L Hatch in addition to loads of ca$h. Entertainment has not been forgotten with some great shows lined up for your enjoyment including Forever Diamond in June, Bee Gees/ Beatles & Beach Boys in July and for all the rockers All Hail Chuck Berry in August. Sunday there’s Live Music for you to enjoy and we have our regular Rock ‘N Roll nights and Asian Fun Nights (full details inside the Journal). Football fans can cheer on the Blues with some special State of Origin Specials and Promotions including a chance to win 4 Platinum Tickets to Game II in Sydney and Grand Final Tickets plus NSW Jerseys up for grabs. Our Chefs will be cooking up a storm over the cooler months with some much anticipated Chef’s Specials ready to tempt you. Also during June, we will be opening the latest edition to your Club’s facilities when the Snooker Room returns to Guildford Leagues. This state of the art room includes 4 Championship Tables and will become the hub for Snooker and Billiards aficionados in the area (Social play for Members will be available whenever comps are not being conducted).
Some great news to finish off, at the recent AGM I was privileged to announce that your Club, recorded a Profit for our 2017 operations of $1.495m and that the Club is trading soundly. Thanks! must go to you the Members and Supporters of the Club for your loyalty. And a Special Thanks to the Directors and all the Staff for their contribution; what a fantastic result. MEN’S BOWLING CLUB REPORT The men’s pennant season has commenced with our team off to a rather slow start. Our opponents for this year are Ingleburn, Revesby, Cabra-Vale Diggers and Cabramatta/Kemps Creek. Grade 7 is always a strong division with the larger bowling clubs having a great choice of players. Our club championships are progressing well with the fours finalised, the triples about to finish, next is the minor singles, major singles and pairs to follow. The men held their annual Mother’s Day bowls day for the ladies. Everyone had an enjoyable time with great food, entertainment and 30 in attendance. I was lucky enough to watch the lady bowlers in the Landsdowne shield against some very stiff opposition. The new bowls area is to be opened shortly. It will be nice to have set area to gather and organise events.
WOMEN’S BOWLS NEWS We had a Charity day and raffle and along with a generous donation from Guildford Leagues Club, we managed to raise $2,618 for the Cure Brain Cancer Foundation! Congratulations to Heather Stephens who received her Life Membership of the Women’s Bowling Club. Heather is a worthy recipient after many years of tireless work for the Women’s Bowls. Guildford Leagues Women’s Bowling Club have won the Lansdowne Medal 2018 – it was a hard fought battle over six weeks! The two teams representing Guildford Leagues Women’s Bowling Club were (from L at back K. Knight, K. Smith, E. Patsias, P. Wheeler, J. McLeish, and B. Longworth. (From L at front M. O’Donoghue, A. SNOOKER The Western Districts Competition is well underway with Guildford having sides in both Division 1 and 2. The division 1 team is well up in the ranking. The 2 team is in the middle of the field with a very strong Rooty Hill side leading the way. High scores in Division 1 include Ron Tulloch with 146 in Billiards and 48 in Snooker. Fred Attard 58 and Joe Minici 48 in billiard while Terry Emmett 75 and Joe Coccamo 47 in snooker are all great achievements. All the talk around the club is over the return to Guildford. We are looking forward to it.

It’s great to know that our excess jerseys are sent off to Fiji and are handed out at primary schools!
WOMBAT’S GOLF CLUB We have just completed our first championship for 2018, with Charlie Brown defeating Paul Wallace in the final of our Match Play Championship. Members have recently enjoyed the annual away trip to Moruya, playing matches at Batemans Bay, Narooma and Moruya Currently we have 34 members registered with an average of twenty two hitting off each Tuesday and Thursday’s hit off on the increase. We welcome Barry Hunt to the club and ensure he will enjoy his experience with the Wombats. New members are always welcome and for enquiries contact •
