Letter from the Editor: Sophia Bollag As I prepared four years ago to leave my home in California to study journalism at Northwestern, I remember wondering what I would find in the Midwest to write about.

I wondered what would happen when I got here, what news I would witness, what stories I would discover.

In hindsight, I realize I asked the wrong

questions. Events didn’t define my experience reporting here. People did.

I spoke with more people during my time at The Daily Northwestern than I can count.

I’m so grateful to each person who pulled themselves away from the never-ending work we all have to answer my questions. You not only made my stories possible, but also helped make our campus a better informed and more open place.

To much of the world, The Daily is the face of our school and the chronicle of our university’s history. Daily staffers work hard, but ultimately we rely on those around us to tell us their stories.

If you ever took the time to talk to a Daily reporter during your time at NU, you were contributing to an important public service.

Every email you responded to, every phone call you took and every interview you sat down for helped inform your community.

Every detail you offered and every question you answered filled in the picture of our university that The Daily projects for the world to see.

I couldn’t imagine you before I got here, but looking back I won’t be able to think about Northwestern without you. You shaped my experience here, but, most importantly, you shaped our community for the better.

senior reflections Walking one path among many ALEX PUTTERMAN One day in March, I was walking on North Campus, away from my typical Foster-and-South home turf, when I found myself on a strip of sidewalk I’d never walked before. And as I passed over that unfamiliar territory, it occurred to me how wild it was that after four years at Northwestern, there were still places on campus, probably many, I had never, ever been.

I hear some people spent their time at NU hanging out in underground steam tunnels or searching for some mythical(?) bagel shop or something.

I don’t really know anything about those things,

because I was cooped in the Daily offices on the third floor of Norris for hours on end, in a room a large majority of students has never seen. While I was at basketball games, someone else was rehearsing for a musical. While I was writing articles, someone else was solving equations. While I was playing Xbox, someone else was knitting sweaters (I think?).

We’d all like to think that four years is enough time to really know a place, that we’re leaving NU with some sort of wisdom about its true essence. But the NU experience is so far from universal. There are near-infinite ways to spend four years in Evanston

and near-infinite perspectives through which to view those years. Sometimes my Facebook feed seems to alternate between exclamations of NU’s greatness and lamentations of its terribleness. It’s confusing, all these people who spent the same four years in the same place holding directly opposite viewpoints.

Around graduation time, everyone seems interested in a tidy summation of the NU experience.

From celebrity graduation speakers to triumphant graduates to frustrated students just glad to have crossed the finish line, we look to tie a bow on four years of college, to ascertain the greater meaning of

our time here. College was joyful or anxiety-inducing. Fulfilling, or hollow. Liberating or oppressive.

And in the end, it has been all those things to one person or another. When it comes time to don our caps and gowns, we’ll pretend we’ve shared an experience and come out together, when in truth we’ve all followed our own paths that have happened to stop at the commencement ceremony. There is no proper NU experience. Not when there’s so much sidewalk to cover.

Finding home, going soft JEANNE KUANG Northwestern was supposed to harden me.

I was supposed to learn how to do real work, how to get ahead, how to face the world, how to stand up for myself, how to not take s--- and not get too attached to people and then to take all of that and launch myself into a bright, shining future.

And then I got here. And maybe I learned some of those things, but I definitely did not become hardened.

I first found a community at Northwestern in the Communication Residential College, where I took my first shot and spent freshman year getting good at Mario Kart. At CRC I had the kind of friends who ran with me into Lake Michigan (at night, in December, right before finals, just because.) At CRC I stayed up late, readings and papers neglected, to

talk a friend through wrenching heartbreak. Three years later in the apartment we share, she returned the favor.

Then I came to The Daily, where I watched you, Class of 2016, for nearly four years as you built up this campus we’ve called home. My friends and I here at the paper have tried to document as much of it as we saw. We watched as you strengthened relationships, explored burgeoning careers, made art, started businesses, debated politics, celebrated your cultures, mourned losses near and far and fought for a better university and a better world. We watched you dedicate your lives to your passions, and to each other. And we did the same, night after night on the third floor of Norris, to tell your stories.

(I guess we all went to some classes along the

way, too.)

It softened me, all of it.

I know this because if you voluntarily stay up all night in a building that is not your residence to work on a thing that won’t get you a grade or significant monetary compensation, you are soft for that thing.

I know this because I saw so many of you put aside those exam notes or that looming internship deadline to counsel a friend in need, to put work into a team project, to march up Sheridan Road for a cause that you believed to be bigger than yourself.

And when you’re swayed by something that prevents you from getting yourself ahead, you’re soft.

In my time at Northwestern and at The Daily, I have watched you all build these invisible webs around us, through your student groups and activism

and general friendships, of people who can lean on and understand each other. Marina Keegan, in her transcendent 2012 Yale graduation essay, called this “the opposite of loneliness.” Some people call it community. Some call it love.

Whatever it is, it wouldn’t be possible if we let competition and jadedness harden us. It wouldn’t be possible if we decided college was about us as individuals, and our individual quests for jobs and grad school acceptances.

There will be time enough in the future for me to wish I had studied harder, developed more useful skills, networked more aggressively for myself. But as I look around at this web we’ve woven around us, a labor of community and a labor of love, I can only think, thank goodness Northwestern made me soft.

Finding solace in consistency HAYLEY GLATTER There’s an empty nostalgia about walking into a room where everybody used to know your name.

When I entered The Daily Northwestern’s newsroom this quarter, it was like I was in a twilight zone.

A place I knew so well suddenly felt unfamiliar. I accidentally stumbled into The Daily during Spring Quarter my freshman year, and I have been involved in varying degrees ever since. But, as Spring Quarter seniors are apt to do, I dove head first into student group irrelevancy this quarter, separating myself from the newsroom in favor of far less goal-oriented pursuits.

And yet, in a not-so-shocking twist, The Daily continued to be printed every single day. Eager people sat in chairs I once occupied, used the Norris

University Center 24-hour staircase far more often than they should have and spent an irrational amount of money on Thai iced coffee from Cozy Noodles and Rice.

And above all, the Northwestern community kept making headlines and Daily reporters kept writing them.

There’s something so hopeful, so pure and so genuinely good about the fact that every weekday for the last four years, there has been a new print copy of The Daily. There’s something comforting, wholesome and stabilizing about the fact that, despite City Council delaying the Harley Clarke Mansion decision again, another story falling through and the Norris C-store running out of the hummus I’m

obsessed with, the paper still happened. There is a chance, every single night, that there might not be enough content or that things might just totally fly off the rails. There is a chance, every single night, that The Daily might fail.

But it didn’t. We didn’t.

The publication of The Daily has absolutely been the most consistent aspect of my four years at Northwestern. My whole world is cataclysmically different than it was when I first stepped foot on campus in September 2012. But in the midst of seemingly every single thing I’ve ever known changing, The Daily has always been there. Another issue is always going to come out tomorrow; it may not be award-winning, but there will always be an issue.

I tend to be dramatic and hyperbolic, labeling mundane things like my OMG plate from Olive Mediterranean Grill, “the best thing on planet Earth,” or a full email inbox as, “literally the worst.”

But if we’re being honest, The Daily absolutely changed my life for the better.

I am far from qualified to dole out any sort of advice in this column. What I can tell you from all the strange places I’ve conducted interviews, all of the classes I’ve dropped and all of the Andy’s Frozen Custard concretes I’ve tried, is that The Daily was always printed and I always had a place to go.

For me and for NU, The Daily was always on it.

Whatever “it” was.

The value of experiential learning MIKE MARUT I chose to attend Northwestern because of the opportunities it afforded me as an undergraduate journalism student.

I would be taking classes with professors who succeeded in the industry, have access to an all student-run television station and be able to work for one of the best collegiate newspapers in the country: The Daily Northwestern.

As a freshman, I joined The Daily in Spring Quarter writing for the sports desk. Writing for the paper really gave me the experience that I craved as an amateur journalist. Classes were great and all, and I learned a lot, but journalism is all about garnering experience. At the time, I thought I wanted to cover sports for the rest of my life. I had been an athlete in high school and had broadcast sports I

wasn’t involved in during the off-season.

My first assignment was covering women’s tennis, as there was no permanent writer on that beat.

I did not know the first thing about tennis, but I took the assignment anyway. I turned that one assignment into my permanent beat. The Wildcats have been amazing in women’s tennis for the past 17 years, winning 15 Big Ten Titles in that time.

Coach Claire Pollard always gave great quotes and the players were very nice to the young reporter (even if they hated doing interviews).

I covered the team all four years of my time here, including one round of 16 appearance in the NCAA Tournament and four regional rounds. The continuous coverage laid the groundwork for my skills as a journalist: how to write fair stories, take “off the

record” answers and continually ask questions in different ways until I got more than a two-word answer.

I never tried climbing the sports ladder at The Daily — I did not want to. I got to cover a great team in a great sport and pretty much run media time whenever other publications showed up, because I was the one who researched the most.

With my reporting skills honed, I felt confident in my classes regardless of what type of medium I worked with: audio, video or pure writing. I had the opportunity to look back at my stories for class from freshman year and let me tell you, they were flat-out bad. Sentences were all over the place, no flow existed in the stories, quotes were not always relevant, etc.

My professors definitely helped me improve my writing, but The Daily got me started on that path of improvement. It helped me land internships at a livestream broadcasting company and a Chicago radio station. My writing only got better because of those internships as well, but the school paper got the ball rolling.

In journalism, writing is everything no matter what outlet you work for. Whether it be TV, radio, magazine or newspaper, reporters need to know how to write stories effectively and make them compelling for the audience. Northwestern gave me the tools and opportunities to become a real reporter, and The Daily gave me experience to pursue that goal.

Meyers is a 1996 graduate of the School of Communication. He initially majored in Radio, Television and Film but has said he soon fell in love with improv instead.

While at NU Meyers was involved in improv group Mee-Ow and took lessons at the famous iO Theater in Chicago.

On “Saturday Night Live,” Meyers was best known as a host of “Weekend Update” from 2006 to 2014. He originally auditioned to host the segment with Tina Fey in 2004 but lost out to his future co-host Amy Poehler.

Meyers played a crucial role in Fey’s famous impersonation of vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin on “SNL” in 2008.

He co-wrote the sketch with Fey and Poehler, who played Hillary Clinton. Fey has credited Meyers the most for the roles.

To prepare for showtime every night at “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” Meyers looks at a photo of his dog, Frisbee.

In his senior year, the NU football team went to the Rose Bowl. Meyers has said he followed along closely that season and he still tweets in support of the Wildcats during games.

The current Republican frontrunner touched on the comedian’s speech in his book “Time to Get Tough: Making America #1 Again.” Trump called Meyers a “third-rate comedian” with “absolutely no talent.”

Landmarks of our last four years

Asian American studies gets major

Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences faculty approved the creation of an Asian American studies major in Winter Quarter 2016, a long-awaited victory for a movement that began at NU more than 20 years ago. The Asian American Studies Program began with a minor in 1999, four years after Asian-American students held a hunger strike for the program’s creation. The major will be available beginning the next academic year.

Dillo Day cancelled due to extreme weather

Loans removed from financial aid

Northwestern removed loans as part of its financial aid packages for incoming students in Winter Quarter 2016. NU is one of a few schools around the country to offer an all-grant aid system, and the University has set a goal of having Pell Grant-eligible students make up 20 percent of the incoming class by 2020. The reforms to financial aid also included new scholarships for undocumented immigrants who complete high school in the U.S.

President Barack Obama caused a flurry of activity on campus Fall Quarter 2014 when he visited NU to give a speech in Cahn Auditorium. Speaking to a crowd of mostly Kellogg School of Management students, Obama touted his administration’s work in helping the nation recover from the 2008 economic crisis, pushed Democratic Party agenda items for that year’s upcoming midterm elections and called on NU students to be future leaders of the American economy. His speech marked the first time a sitting president had visited NU in 60 years.

Polar vortex postpones start of Winter Quarter 2014

Record-low temperatures and nearly two feet of snow delayed the start of Winter Quarter 2014 by two days. The cold air followed nearly a week of heavy snow in Evanston, and flight cancellations in the Chicago area made it difficult for students to return to campus at the end of Winter Break.

Title IX takes center stage

In 2014, a Medill student and philosophy Prof. Peter Ludlow filed separate but related lawsuits against Northwestern under Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, which prohibits sex discrimination by higher education institutions receiving federal funding. In the wake of the two lawsuits against Northwestern, students have launched a conversation about the school’s sexual misconduct policy and whether it puts survivors of sexual assault first.

Wind gusts reaching 30 mph tore through Evanston on May 30, 2015, resulting in the cancellation of Dillo Day. The wind speeds surpassed the main stage’s tolerance, and Mayfest did not have a backup venue lined up in the event of adverse weather. The event was cancelled before any main stage artists could perform. Miguel was supposed to headline the festival, which was also set to feature Odesza, Charli XCX, A$AP Ferg and Saint Motel.

Students protest proposed Black House changes

In November, Northwestern students disrupted the groundbreaking for the lakeside athletic complex as part of a march that started at the steps of the historic Black House. About 300 people gathered outside the Black House protest institutional racism and proposed changes to the facility. By the end of Fall Quarter 2015, the proposed changes were dropped and the University formed two committees to evaluate the black student experience at NU.

Founder John Evans scrutinized for role in Sand Creek Massacre

Amidst a wave of student activism pressuring the University to recognize its controversial past, NU in 2013 convened a committee to study founder John Evans’ role in the Sand Creek Massacre, in which about 150 Cheyenne and Arapaho people were killed. NU also planned better outreach to American Indian students last academic year, while this year the Native American and Indigenous Students Alliance demanded the removal of Evans’ name from campus buildings.

Divestment debate sweeps campus

In Winter Quarter 2015, a group of students launched a campaign pushing for NU to divest holdings in six corporations alleged to have contributed to the violations of Palestinians’ human rights. The campaign sparked a fierce discussion across campus, culminating in more than five hours of debate in Associated Student Government Senate.

NUDivest, and ASG’s narrow passage of a resolution supporting its cause, added NU to a growing list of colleges across the country where students have pushed for boycotting companies in the Israel-Palestine conflict.

Amid complaints from students about long wait times and a lack of resources through Counseling and Psychological Services, over the past few years the University allotted funding for several additional CAPS psychologists. This year, CAPS also ended its limit on the number of one-on-one counseling sessions each student could receive.

Oct. 4, 2015: Man found with marijuana, cocaine hidden in pants

EA 24-year-old man was arrested Wednesday evening in connection with possession of cocaine and marijuana.

Police approached the man at about 5:15 p.m. when he parked his car in a lot near Howard Street and Western Avenue, Evanston police Cmdr.

Joseph Dugan said. Police said they recognized the man, for whom they had an active arrest warrant for violating his probation, Dugan said. After observing the man shoving something down his pants and noting a strong marijuana smell, police took the man into custody, he said.

Police found 16.8 grams of marijuana and 5.8 grams of what police suspect to be cocaine in the man’s pants, Dugan said.

The Evanston resident was charged with felonies for unlawful possession of a controlled substance with an intent to deliver, unlawful possession of cannabis and cannabis possession with an intent to deliver.

July 14, 2015: Woman charged with battery after hitting officer with urine-soaked paper towels

A 29-year-old woman was charged with battery Friday afternoon after causing a disturbance in the police station after her arrest, including kicking urines-oaked paper towels at an officer.

The woman was taken into custody at about 1 p.m. in the 600 block of Greenleaf Street by police with a warrant for her arrest, said Evanston police Cmdr. Joseph Dugan. While handcuffed to a rail at the police station, the woman demanded to know why she had been arrested then began yelling and threatening the officers, Dugan said.

Dugan said he had no further information on the woman’s initial arrest.

After the woman removed her pants and urinated on herself and the floor of the station, an officer began cleaning up the urine with paper towels. She then kicked the wet paper towels, hitting the officer, Dugan said.

The woman was charged with battery, a misdemeanor involving insulting or provoking an officer.

Oct. 15, 2015: Man charged with felony for root beer theft

Nov. 18, 2013: Beauty store robbed of $500 in hair by 2 women

A 45-year-old man was charged with a felony Tuesday evening after allegedly stealing a single bottle of root beer from a grocery store following previous retail theft convictions.

The store’s security guard spotted the man at about 6:45 p.m. collecting multiple food items, including the 20 oz. bottle of root beer valued at $1.50 from the Jewel Osco at 2485 W. Howard St. The guard called police when the man left all the items but walked out with the root beer, Dugan said.

Police charged the man with a felony due to prior retail theft convictions.

Two women stole more than $500 worth of hair Thursday evening from a beauty store near the Chicago-Evanston border, according to police.

Evanston Police Cmdr. Jay Parrott said the women took four bundles of hair and ran out of the front door of Howard Beauty Supply, 1123 W. Howard St., shortly before 7:30 p.m. They had been shopping with another woman and two men.

Three of the bundles are valued at about $140 each and one at about $120, Parrott said.

Police described the women as black, 17 to 18 years old, between 5 foot 5 inches and 5 foot 6 inches tall and having slim builds. One woman wore a pink North Face coat with blue jeans, and the other wore a purple jacket.

Police are reviewing surveillance footage of the store, Parrott said.

May 21, 2014: Can of green paint thrown at Evanston resident following chase

Someone threw a can of green paint at a 20-year-old Evanston resident on Northwestern’s campus Monday evening.

Police responded to a disorderly conduct call at about 11:30 p.m. on Monday on the sidewalk by the corner of Lincoln Street and Sheridan Road, Evanston Police Cmdr. Jay Parrott said.

Police located the 20yearold there, who said an unknown person began chasing him before throwing a can of paint at him, police said. Green paint splashed onto the victim’s clothing, and after the incident, the person who threw the can of paint fled in a vehicle, police said.

Parrott could not confirm the 20-year-old man was an NU student.

April 7, 2014: Driver hits car after it blocks library’s book return

A driver purposefully hit an Evanston woman’s car on Thursday, allegedly because the car was blocking the book return in front of the main branch of the Evanston Public Library, police said.

Sept. 24, 2013: Burglar used spoon to open restaurant’s register Someone used a spoon to break into a cash register early Sunday morning at Greek Fire Grill in downtown Evanston, according to police.

Between 1:45 and 2:30 a.m., the person entered through an unlocked back door and pried open the drawer with the utensil, Evanston Police Cmdr. Jay Parrott said. The person took $100 from the restaurant, 1625 Chicago Ave. Parrott said detectives have video of the incident and are investigating. driver hit the car, she drove toward the witness and nearly hit her before heading east on Church Street, Evanston Police Cmdr. The driver returned to the scene and said she was upset because the car, which belongs to a 51-year-old Evanston resident, was blocking the book return, Parrott said. There was minor damage to the car, and the car’s owner decided not to pursue criminal charges.

May 7, 2015: Doormat stolen from south Evanston Someone took a doormat that said “Go away” from a doorstep Tuesday night, police said.

The 43-year-old resident of the house in the 500 block of Chicago Avenue told responding officers his neighbor, with whom he has been feuding, may be involved in the theft, Dugan said. The doormat, stolen Tuesday night, is valued at about $20, police said.

May 8, 2015: Potted plant worth about $600 stolen from Evanston business

Someone stole a potted plant worth about $600 from a downtown Evanston business overnight Tuesday, police said.

The plant was left on the sidewalk in front of Saville Flowers, 1712 Sherman Ave., Evanston police Cmdr. Joseph Dugan said.

The pot and the plant were taken sometime between 10:30 p.m. Tuesday and 8 a.m.

Wednesday, police said.

There were no signs of attempted entry into the store, Dugan said.

April 3, 2013: Kids set fire to recycling bin An unidentified group of children set fire to an old recycling bin in west Evanston on Saturday.

The children allegedly set fire to the bin in the 2300 block of Grey Avenue at 1:20 p.m. Saturday.

Witnesses reported that five children, each about 10 years of age, set the fire, Evanston Police Cmdr.

Jay Parrott said.

The children fled the scene on foot after a witness began yelling at them, Parrott said. The Evanston fire department responded and extinguished the flames, and the fire did not spread from the bin.

It is not known how the children started the fire, Parrott said.

Sports in review: The Wildcats’ top 10 moments When the Class of 2016 came to in Evanston in 2012, we thought we’d arrived right in time for a golden age of Northwestern sports. We were going to see bowl appearances every year, a historic NCAA Tournament berth and at least two or three lacrosse titles.

It didn’t go quite like that. But even if our four years on the courts and fields didn’t go exactly as we dreamed, the Wildcats gave us plenty to cheer. Here are the top 10 (broadly defined) moments of the last four years in NU sports.

Michigan and on the verge of watching the conference crown slip away. But Nida Hamilton won a close match, setting up Niu, NU’s senior star, for a heroic moment. Niu stormed back from down 5 games to 2 in the decisive set of her match to pull out an impossible victory for the Cats and another Big Ten championship for Claire Pollard’s dominant program.

10. NU baseball and lacrosse win at Wrigley Field

One of the most thrilling moments of our freshman year came at historic Wrigley Field, where Paul Stevens’ Cats baseball squad beat Michigan 6-0 behind a dominant complete game shutout from Luke Farrell. A year later, Kelly Amonte Hiller’s lacrosse team took the same famous field and dispatched USC 12-7. The games were part of a Cubs-NU partnership that will continue after the Class of 2016 is gone.

6. Women’s basketball makes NCAAs, other programs find success

In March 2015, NU women’s basketball qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1997, placing the program in an echelon it had long strived to reach. Women’s hoops was the most prominent of several NU teams that hit new highs over the past four years, including field hockey, men’s tennis and women’s golf.

These programs all provided numerous memorable moments since the Class of 2016 arrived.

9. Jordan Wilimovsky makes the Olympic team

This is the only moment on this list that happened while we were away on summer break. Last July, Wilimovsky, then a rising senior, won the U.S. men’s 10K open-water swim at the FINA World Championships, thereby qualifying for the 2016 Olympics. Wilimovsky had an incredible college career that included school records, All-America nods and Big Ten titles.

No matter what you think about the collegiate sports model, the NCAA or the idea of college athletes forming a union, there’s no question Jan. 28, 2014 was a historic day, not only for NU sports but also for the American sports world at large. When Colter announced his intention to unionize the Cats’ football team, he was acting in unprecedented defiance against the NCAA, one of the country’s most ingrained (and controversial) sporting institutions. Plenty of schools win major bowl games, but few practice activism even approaching that of Colter’s union bid.

8. NU basketball hires Chris Collins

There were several exciting on-court moments during the past four years of NU basketball — lots of Tre Demps heroics, including a mind-bending win over Michigan in 2015, and Alex Olah’s gametying put-back against the Wolverines this March — but ultimately, no moment was more important that Collins’ introduction. Though the coach has yet to deliver overwhelming results, recruiting is more consistent than ever, and the Cats’ program has as much cause for optimism as ever.

7. Belinda Niu leads unbelievable Big Ten finals comeback

The most thrilling sporting event you probably didn’t see came during the spring of 2014, when NU’s women’s tennis team won the Big Ten title in spectacular fashion. The Cats were down 3-2 to

4. NU football upsets Notre Dame in South Bend

On Nov. 15, 2014, NU marched into Notre Dame Stadium, one of America’s most famous venues, to face the Fighting Irish, one of the country’s most iconic teams, and left with an incredible upset victory. The win was shocking and exhilarating on every level. For one thing, Northwestern was sputtering through a disappointing season, while Notre Dame was nationally ranked. Then, the Fighting Irish went up 40-29 in the fourth quarter, and NU appeared to be finished. But a prompt Trevor Siemianled touchdown drive set up two Jack Mitchell field goals that ensured the kicker will be a hero in Evanston as long as he lives. This game almost made back-to-back 5-7 seasons worth the trouble.

3. Wrestler Jason Tsirtsis wins a national championship

Though no NU team sports pulled out an NCAA title while the Class of 2016 was around, one athlete claimed a championship all for himself. Tsirtsis won the national title in the 149pound weight class as a redshirt freshman in 2014, becoming the eighth Cats wrestler to win a national title. Of all the athletes to pass through NU over the past four years, none took home more impressive hardware than Tsirtsis.

2. NU wins the Gator Bowl, snaps 65-year postseason losing streak

Before the Class of 2016 showed up, NU football hadn’t won a bowl game since the 1948 season. But behind the quarterbacking duo of Colter and Siemian and the breath-taking speed of Venric Mark, the 2012 Cats snapped the streak, beating Mississippi State 34-20 on Jan. 1, 2013. The thrill of that victory carried NU fans through the sub-standard 2013 and 2014

seasons and into 2015’s revival, which created wonderful memories of its own.

Yeah yeah, the Cats didn’t actually win on Oct. 5, 2013 against Ohio State, but it’s all about how you play the game, right? At no point over the past four years was NU’s campus more full of life than the weekend when the undefeated Buckeyes came to face the undefeated Cats, with both teams ranked in the top 20. ESPN personalities roamed campus, with the network’s marquee College GameDay show set up on the Lakefill and the Mike & Mike radio program broadcast from Deering Meadow. When the game rolled around, Ohio State pulled out the win, but no one who was around NU that weekend will forget the excitement of the college football world staring at Evanston.
