Axel owned by Adam Theurer won the best of show prize at the Pet Show Saturday during the 53rd Annual Azalea Festival Saturday under the Bill Whitener Pavilion in the Wanda Priest Park. The winners in the biggest pet category were Smokey owned by Bernice Davis in first place; Axel owned by Adam Theurer took second; and Prince Charles by Diana Brewington came in third place. In the smallest pet category, Snowball won first place with his owner Noah Cole; Phebe won second with her owner Brenda Cowling; and Pandora placed third with her owner Val Wheat. In the most unusual category, Lola won first prize with her owner Lily Brewington; Prince Charles took second place with his owner Diana Brewington; and Snowball came in third with his owner Noah Cole. The most creative division yielded Avery and his owner Miley Wengler in the top spot; Penny and owners Jenne and Leena Shell; and Callie was third

AZALEA FESTIVAL RESULTS Azalea Festival Super Farmers compete for cash prizes T he Azalea Festival Super Farmer competition is hosted each year by the Madison County Farm Bureau Board which is under the auspices of the Missouri Farm Bureau and the American Farm Bureau Federation, according to Dennis Bradford a long time member and Super Farmer event organizer. The group advocates for farmers rights and positive legislation in Missouri’s Congress. Braford said, “That’s not all, we also donate money for civic needs and not all of them are related to farming. An example are the two $500. scholarships for Madison County students each year, one in Marquand and one

53rd Annual Azalea Festival Parade Float Winners Winning entries for the 53rd Annual Azalea parade are the following: The Grand Prize was awarded to the City of Fredericktown along with a $300 cash prize. In the Commercial division New Era Bank was the recipient of a first place ribbon with $200 in cash; 2 n d p l a ce - B ro o k ly n Boutique $100 3rd place Farm Bureau Insurance $75 The Youth Division winners were 1st place—Xtreme softball $200 2nd place—Birds Baseball $100 In the Civic / Religious category 1st place was awarded to the Relay for Life Float along with a $200 prize; 2nd place went to Mom-A-Thon with a $100 prize; and in 3rd place was Fresh Anointing Church with $75 in cash.
