The Brown Art Gallery will host an art show featuring works by seniors (ages 55 plus) during this year’s Art City Days celebration. The show will be open to the public daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the week of Art City Days, June 6 through 11, at the Brown Art Gallery, 274 S. Main, Springville.
Seniors interested in participating can submit one or two of their paintings or pottery pieces into the show. The entries must be entered and registered on Friday, June 3, or Saturday, June 4, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the gallery.
Paintings (no larger than 36 x 48 and no heavier than 25 pounds) must have a proper wire on the back for hanging. All art should conform to community standards. Every entry will be on display. The show will be judged and awards given. Paintings may be priced for sale with all proceeds going to the artist.
Invite your family and friends to see the artwork at the historic Brown Art Gallery, which has been renovated following a devastating fire in 2017. Historical plaques are now installed on the outside of the building that tell some of the stories of previous owners.
Participating artists may pick up their works on Friday, June 17, or Saturday, June 18, between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Another exhibit of paintings by Bill Brown will also be on display at the gallery during Art City Days. Titled “Common Roots,” the paintings depict aspen trees in the Fish Lake area, the location of the Pando aspen grove, the single most massive living organism known on Earth. The exhibit also celebrates the quaking aspen tree as the official state tree of Utah.
