Exclusive Interview: The Amazing singer and songwriter Jonathan McField Release New single “Let’s Go!”

Q: Please introduce yourself to the readers and how you first got into this field of work –and who were some of your influences growing up? My name is Jonathan McField from Roatan — currently based in Costa Rica. I am a singer and songwriter. I’ve been performing live for around 15 years. My very first time singing in public was at a church choir competition in Limon CR. I never would have imagined everything I would start to attract after that experience. Almost immediately after the choir competition I got admitted to another choir, “Angelical Melodies”. This experience exposed me to choral music, negro spirituals, Costa Rica typical music, and more. I travelled with this choir to Cuba and Bocas del Toro (Panama). I’ve always been attracted to the great classics of jazz, blues, soul… I would just pick up my CD’s and immerse myself in the magic of the music I was listening to. Some of my favorite singers growing up were Chris Brown, Ray Charles, Christina Aguilera, Bruno Mars, Mark Anthony, Steven Tyler, Usher, Bob Marley, Michael Jackson, and others…

Q: What kind of training have you had, if any? I was trained in classical singing with the Angelical Melodies choir, gospel training with Baptist and Adventist church, I thought myself to sing soul and pop just trying to imitate my favorite singers. And I’ve always been attracted to cultural music, and sound that relates to a culture really calls my attention. Q: What has been your favourite project to work on so far? D’Classics was really fun; this was a cover band. We use to cover the 70s and 80s classical pop music for the most part. This experience deeply influenced my most recent music release “Let’s Go!”. Q: How did you get the gig? Looking for opportunities to put my song on more ears. I want everyone to be exposed to my music and have an opportunity to like or dislike it.

Q: What sports do you enjoy watching? Olympic sports. Q: What has been one of the biggest highlights/achievements of your career? All the love my music gets from most people; people that actually fucks with it. People love it, sometimes I feel they love the music more than they love me; that’s alright, I love my music too. A lot. Q: If you had a chance to work alongside anybody who would that be? DJ Kaled; I love his style, his flow, and his energy… I can see me producing a hit with this guy… Q: What projects do you have coming up? A completely different sound from the music I’ve released so far. My next project is a very soulful R&B/trap song… Q: Who is your inspiration? I take inspiration from my own life experiences. When creating music, I aim to capture a special moment or feeling. Q: What’s the most interesting thing you’ve read or seen this week? I’m learning about NFTs… I know this is a way for the artist and I’ve been picking up on content related to NFT to learn as much as I can about this tool and how it can help me as an artist.

Q: What are your favorite venues to perform in? A place with a good mic and good feedback is amazing to sing at. If I can hear myself crystal clear and the mic is of good quality, take a seat and enjoy all the energy you’ll be blasted with.
