more than 20,000 churches across the country to take part in National Back to Church Sunday in an effort to reach out to those who may have fallen away from regular church attendance. Oakland Baptist Church As-

sociate Pastor Dyer Harbor said they want everyone to know they’re welcome, wanted and loved. “We’re trying to get folks who maybe grew up in church and

The kids will be donning aprons, taking orders, busing tables and washing dishes to raise money for a trip to Disney World in May. Fundraiser number one for the group is scheduled for Sept. 23 from 5-8 p.m. at Taylor’s Fish & Steak on U.S. Highway 72. Individuals who purchase a $12 ticket will receive a meal of four fish strips, french fries, slaw, hushpuppies and drink. “We are hoping for a big crowd to get the fundraising started,” said trip organizer Havis Hurley. “Several kids, their parents and siblings are planning on going this time, so we are needing to raise more money.” Hurley expects the group needs to raise $60,000 for the

Bookworm Bargains: Friends host local library book sale Kickoff set

for Relay for Life

BY JEBB JOHNSTON jjohnston@dailycorinthian.com

The biggest bargain sale of the year awaits Corinth’s bookworms. The Friends of the Corinth Library will open the garage next Saturday from 9 a.m. until for a big sale benefiting the library. With donated items and library discards on offer, the selection includes fiction and nonfiction titles, children’s books, church hymnals and other music books, audiobooks, movies and CDs. Friends members Jean Jordan, Lola Porter and Gordon Porter have cleaned up and organized the stacks of books filling the garage. Jordan said much of this selection has never appeared in the library’s ongoing sale inside the building. It’s the first garage sale to be held in about three years and will feature special pricing for the day. Donations are accepted anytime at the front desk for the ongoing book sale.
