A Corinth man is expected to face an attempted murder charge after shooting another man twice Wednesday night.

It happened around 11 p.m. at 800 Pierce Street. Detective Capt. Ralph Dance said charges are pending for Frederick Patterson, 49, of Mitchell Street. The police department has not

Long time friends and musicians, Cid Gardner and Brian Graham, opened up Grahams Corner Store 10 years ago and have made their mark on the Crossroads area, creating a music scene that books some of the best blues acts, roots and other Americana genre music. “We have been doing these shows for over 10 years and having these jam sessions where people come in from all over the place,” Gardner explained. “It all started when [Brian]

Salvation Army seeks help filling up Crossroads Arena to host job fair next month campaign truck BY JOSEPH MILLER

Are you looking for a good job? If so, attend the Northeast Mississippi Workforce Investment Network (WIN) on Tuesday, September 24 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Crossroads Arena and increase your chances on finding employment. The WIN job fair is a program of the Mississippi Department of Employment Security (MDES) and will be open to the public and their will be no admission fee required. The Crossroads Arena is located at 2800 South Harper Rd. in Corinth and employers will be on hand with plenty of job opportunities in many different fields. The Salvation Army is asking the community to help fill a truck this weekend to aid local residents in need. The Corinth branch of The Salvation Army is partnering with Walmart for a fill-the-truck campaign today and Saturday at the South Harper Road Supercenter. The truck will be available from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day. “We are asking our community to bring anything they would like to donate — clothing, household items, shoes and furniture,” said Director Michelle Miles. “We are emphasizing the need for furniture because we have been really low on furniture for the last few months.” The majority of people in Alcorn County who lose homes to fire are referred to The Salvation Army.
