The entire detective division of the Corinth Police Department is working on the recent murder where officials say the motive was robbery. “We have gathered new information on the case,” Corinth Police Chief Ralph Dance told
the Daily Corinthian. “We are not ready to mention suspects, but we are getting close to that point.” Twenty-four year old Shomarick Payne was found dead with a single gunshot wound to the head on April 17 inside his home at 2704 Glover Drive in North Corinth. He was

PICKWICK, Tenn. — A pair of Chester County, Tenn. men drowned Wednesday while fishing too close to the Pickwick Landing Dam. Their boat was pulled through an open
floodgate and their bodies were later found down the Tennessee River. The victims were identified as Casey Cox, 32, of Henderson, and Michael Ray Terry, 69, of Henderson, according to Hardin County Fire Chief Mel-

Racers are ready to lace up for a good cause. Hundreds are registered to compete in Saturday’s third annual Austin’s Shoes Reconnect 4 Autism Color Run 5K at Shiloh Ridge Golf Course. The event supports the local Autism awareness group’s fundraising efforts and includes a one mile-route and a 5K (three-mile route).

Kara Blackard likes his job so much, he has been doing it for going on 36 years. Blackard is the pastor at Wheeler Grove Baptist Church. He and his wife, Linda Blackard, are Alcorn County residents of the Wheeler Grove community. Blackard was born in Union County and grew up there. He said he married and moved to Corinth in 1981. He loves his work as a pastor. “It has meant so much that the people have allowed me to be given the great honor of pastoring this church for all these years. I love the camaraderie and fellowship with these people ... It has been a joy seeing people come to know Jesus as their Savior and seeing God work in the church,” said Blackard.
