Many people probably remember this face from her days at Lesley’s Floor Designs in Corinth. For 16 years from 1996 until 2012, Wanda Wilbanks was Lesley Raines’ right-hand person, greeting customers and taking orders. Wanda and husband Bennie took a leap of faith and decided to open a restaurant in 2012. Today Wanda is owner of the Whislin’ Dixie Cafe on Highway 57 in Counce, Tenn. Benny, a long-time Caterpillar employee before his retirement, passed away of a heart attack last September, but Wanda carries on the dream. “He would want me to,” said Wanda, 62. “It keeps me busy, but I sure do miss him.” Wanda attends Holly Baptist Church and enjoys working in her yard with her flowers.
