Board viewing bids on drainage projects BY JEBB JOHNSTON jjohnston@dailycorinthian.com
First proposed five years ago, the major drainage projects to take water out of the Oak Lane and Tishomingo basins reached bid openings during the past week. While itâs a significant milestone for the project, the bids unsealed by Cook Coggin Engineers on Tuesday and Thursday did not appear favorable.
âCollectively, they appear to be above the monies available through the funding agencies,â said Johnny Crotts of Cook Coggin. It appears likely the bid process will need to start over with some changes to the project. It will be up to the Board of Mayor and Aldermen to decide the next step.

Marjorie Pace has enjoyed doing business with customers who have become good friends during 22 years at Citizenâs Page, serving the communications needs of emergency personnel. âI enjoy it because it brings a lot of good fellowship with the police department, the sheriffâs department, the fire departments and the ambulance drivers,â said the lifelong Kossuth resident. âThey are good people.â Retirement might be nice, âbut I donât see that in the works,â she said. Her husband is Kossuthâs mayor, Don Pace, who is about to begin a fifth term, and they have three children, nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Outside of work, she enjoys playing the organ at Kossuth Baptist Church and âkeeping up with all these grandchildren,â said Pace. âThat pretty well is full-time.â Staff photo by Jebb Johnston

People of the Crossroads

The story of Jesus is a focal point during the Easter holiday and one church will bring the story to life on Easter evening. Gospel Tabernacle will present an Easter musical drama, âTake Me To The King,â at 6 p.m. Sunday. Pastor Josh Hodum said itâs the congregationâs first time to produce this particular musical drama. âWhat weâre really doing is telling in modern day life, what happened in Jesusâ
were not taken down. âWeâve finally got it all worked out,â Williams said earlier this week. The town sold a small portion of land it owned behind the memorial to an individual for $1. The land was deeded to that individual and will soon be the site for a new flag pole. âWeâre just waiting on the
