Sportsplex files Chapter 11 bankruptcy Local organization avoids the auction block

There was no auction of the Corinth Sportsplex on Friday. The organization filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy Thursday afternoon in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court Northern District in Ox-
ford. “After much discussion and legal counsel it became evident that the best way of accomplish-
ing our two goals was to file for Chapter 11 protection,” said Sportsplex Executive Director Shane Casabella. “The filing is
the same protection offered to corporations throughout the nation who have restructured and been a success, including

Icy roads continued to be a challenge for drivers on Corinth streets Thursday. More than two dozen minor wrecks were reported throughout the day, even after sunshine began melting most of the ice. On a whim, Patsy Rich tried something new and found her niche. While viewing an art exhibit at FreedHardeman University some time ago, her husband spied a painting composed entirely with a palette knife and asked if she had ever tried that approach. “I took it as a challenge,” she said. A resident of Sweet Lips, Tenn., she found it worked to her advantage. “To me, it’s easier to control than a brush,” said Rich. “I’ve got arthritis in my hands. The handles are a whole lot thicker and they’re easier to hold.” It also gave her an opportunity to experiment with texture in new ways. A selection of her works will be featured
