The opportunity is near for Alcorn County children to register and get started on their journey toward a great education. The Alcorn County School District will be holding a district-wide registration for all pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students for the 20172018 school year from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 6, at Kossuth, Alcorn Central, and Biggersville Elementary Schools. The age requirement for pre-kindergarten students is that the child must be four years old by Sept. 1, 2017. For

A new collaboration between the Baldwyn and Booneville school districts will open doors for state of the art learning for students both locally and throughout the region. The districts were approved last week as Mississippi Districts of Innovation, allowing them to work together to provide advanced and specialized educational programs for students in both districts. Back by popular demand, the Lenten Luncheons will make their highly-anticipated return to the Weaver Center in March. Now in its 36th year, the ladies of First United Methodist Church have planned some phenomenal meals for the luncheons which will begin on Wednesday, March 1. Held at noon each Wednesday until April 5, the weekly event will feature a different speaker at each luncheon. A schedule is as follows: • March 1 – The speaker will be The Rev. Chuck Hassell of Waldron Street Christian Church. Chicken spaghetti,
