URBAN SETTLEMENT MIXED-USE COMPLEX | ZEYTINBURNU, TURKEY EMU | ARCH392 | FALL 2020-2021 The city of Zeytinburnu in Turkey, in its recent history, was known for its leather industry and squatter settlements. The settlements were destroyed during the time of Istanbul’s rapid urbanization, and many people lost their homes. Though today’s urban city-scape does not show traces of this story, this mixed-use complex inspires from the squatter homes which once occupied the site many years ago.

AQUA CENTER | FAMAGUSTA, TRNC EMU | ARCH491 | SPRING 2020-2021 Inspiring from the natural harbour and the port which have given Famagusta it’s strategic value over the centuries, the aqua center aims to give the users a deeper relationship with water and the port city of Famagusta.

LIFE-LONG LEARNING CENTER AND HOTEL | FAMAGUSTA, TRNC EMU | ARCH492 | FALL 2021-2022 Every space is a stage set up for memories to take place. Memories formed in contigous spaces are connected to each other with links in the form of bridges. Users from all generations make and carry memories from one space to another, all the while coexisting with the ecologically valuable site.
