It’s been a couple of weeks since our home game here against Solihull Moors, in which the lads put in a terrific performance against a very strong outfit, who currently sit in the play-off positions. Against Solihull we had an idea that they would try and play out from the back and we tried to press them high and early, and in the first half the lads got their rewards for their work with a two-goal cushion. We then went on to face Barrow, which was a game that we ultimately lost 2-1, but in truth we believe a draw was the least we deserved for our performance in really difficult conditions. Alex Reid scored an excellent goal after some good play between our midfield, which was very pleasing. Although we lost the previous weekend, we went to Aldershot Town on Saturday looking to build on that performance against Barrow and get the 3 points. To be honest it was a pretty ugly game, but in the last 20 minutes I felt we were well on top and showed a moment of quality with Mitch’s (Brundle) goal after a great pass from Westy (Myles Weston). In difficult games, and in our position, it’s important we find a way to WIN and we did that on Saturday. It’s nice to be back at home tonight, but I’d like to say a big thanks to the fans who travelled to Barrow and Aldershot... It never goes unnoticed and it’s much appreciated by the players, staff and myself.

On to tonight, and we face AFC Fylde. Fylde have some terrific players in their ranks, with the likes of Montrose, Croasdale, Byrne and a player I know well from my school days, Mark Yeates. We know their position in the league doesn’t fit the quality in the squad, and Jim has been in these positions before with Morecambe so we are well aware we have to be at our absolute best tonight as we look to build momentum after our last six games. As always, we can only focus on, and control, what we do, and that’s what we try to do and implement in our performances as we look to grow and get better. This game will provide another big test for us. On the injury front, Gabby (Zakuani) is due in for surgery to explore his ankle injury. Harold continues his rehabilitation, and is due in to see his

specialist this month. Harold is a player that I have always admired from afar, and off the pitch he is infectious in the changing rooms and at the training ground, so we look forward to welcoming him back, hopefully in the summer. Phippsy (Harry Phipps) had a slight knock in a behind closed doors game last week, but we expect him to be fit for the weekend. Westy managed 90 minutes in that friendly game and it was good to get him on the pitch on Saturday to show some of his quality. Again, and as always, I will ask you to back the team for 90 minutes tonight, and they in turn will give everything they have got for you. Enjoy the game and stay until the end! GOOD EVENING AND WELCOME TO TONIGHT’S VANARAMA NATIONAL LEAGUE MATCH AGAINST AFC FYLDE.

Firstly, let’s look back at our previous three league games, starting with our last match here against Solihull Moors. We were saying before the game in the dressing room that they’re a team that were in the playoffs and that’s where we wanted to be, so it was a good test for us. I think that we performed really well on the day, Angelo coming back into the starting XI and finding the net was not only great for the team, but for the whole club. For him to get a goal on his return was great. The support from the fans was superb, having a bumper crowd behind us really spurred us on and also being able to celebrate diversity day with a win and a clean sheet was fantastic. We can take a lot of positives from our 2-1 defeat against Barrow. We went away to the team that are top of the table and we were disappointed not to come away with something. On the day we played some fantastic football, which our goal highlights. In those tough conditions, which were some of the worst conditions I have ever played in, they played better in the poor weather than we did. It says a lot about us as a team that we were disappointed to not come away with anything after going away to the team top of the table. The Gaffer changed the shape and went with an attacking line-up, which I think shows the confidence that he has in us as a group of players. We changed to the back four so that we could be more attacking, and we went there with nothing to fear. I think the change of shape would have worked and won us at least a point if we could have dealt with those horrific conditions a little better. Before Saturday’s match we said that we wanted to beat Aldershot so that we could pull a team that was slightly above us a little closer. I think that we started slow, which was the theme throughout the first half. We got going in the second half, where we dominated for large spells, especially the last 25 minutes of the match where I thought we controlled the game. To keep another clean sheet was fantastic and I was really pleased for all the boys that came on and made a huge impact. We have a very strong bench, so it means that if things aren’t going for us and we need to change things up, we’re more than capable of doing that now as Saturday showed. We knew going into this weekend that it was going to be huge for us. We have the three points from Saturday and now we need to go out and get the same tonight to increase the gap between us and the bottom four. It won’t be an easy game; they’re fighting for their lives so they will make it tough for us and it’s up to us to be strong and go and win the game. Finally, I’d like to thank the fans for their continued support, especially to those that travelled to Barrow and to Aldershot, all the boys really appreciate it and please continue to be our 12th man, especially tonight in what is another crucial game.

COVID-19 The National League has received communication from The Football Association in connection to the government's response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19). Manager: Jim Bentley AFC Fylde confirmed the appointment of Jim Bentley as the clubâ€™s new Manager on October 28th, 2019. Jim Bentley joined the Coasters after a 17-year affinity with Morecambe FC, first as a player, and then as a manager, where he took up the reins back in May 2011. Bentley joined Morecambe as a player in 2002, making over 300 appearances for the Shrimps, leading them to promotion to League Two as captain. Following his playing career, Bentley stepped up as Manager for the Shrimps â€“ a PAGE 06 DAGGERS.CO.UK

job that would see him become the longest-serving manager in the top four English leagues, serving eight years and five months in the post. 1. James Montgomery Montgomery joined the Coasters from Forest Green Rovers until 2021, who he joined in summer 2018. He made 25 appearances for Forest Green Rovers in all competitions last season, a number which would have been more if not for a freak injury that kept him sidelined. The nature of the injury saw Montgomery make national news, as he lost several of

his teeth in a collision with a Mansfield forward. 2. Lewis Montrose Club captain Montrose is a defensive-minded midfielder who has spent most of his career in the Football League, enjoying promotion to League One on two previous occasions with both Wycombe Wanderers and Gillingham. Montrose also spent time playing League football at Cheltenham Town, Chesterfield, Oxford United York City and Stockport County prior to his move to AFC Fylde. Montrose effectively missed the entirety of

Tom Walker the 2018/19 campaign sidelined with a foot injury. 4. Neill Byrne Byrne, a commanding centre-half, spent his youth career at Nottingham Forest before joining League One Rochdale in 2012. After his time there, he then joined AFC Telford United, where he won promotion to the National League. Byrne then joined Macclesfield Town and helped them reach the FA Trophy Final in the 2016/17, before signing for Gateshead. The former Republic of Ireland youth international swapped Gateshead for the Fylde Coast in May 2018 and was the stand-in captain of the FA Trophy winning side last year after Montrose’s absence. 5. Kyle Jameson Young defender Kyle Jameson joined the Coasters on a two-year deal in the summer of 2019. Jameson spent the 2018/19 season on-loan at Barrow, making 25 appearances in his first professional season. Starting his career at Southport, Jameson then moved to Chelsea for a year, before being spotted by The Baggies and moved to the Midlands. 6. Alex Whitmore Alex Whitmore was a product of Burnley’s youth system, where he gained first team experience out on loan at Chester and Gateshead.

James Montgomery Following the experience in the National League, Whitmore made the step up to the Football League with Morecambe on-loan, where he made 43 appearances for The Shrimps. After spells with Bury, Chesterfield and Grimsby Town, Whitmore signed for the Coasters in the Summer of 2019, putting pen to paper on a two-year deal. 7. Matty Kosylo After spells at the likes of Stockport, Salford and Nantwich Victoria, Kosylo finally found his home in Yorkshire, at Halifax Town. Kosylo netted 24 times in 76 appearances in his three-season spell with The Shaymen, winning promotion to the National League in 2017 through the playoffs. His signing came early in the Summer of 2019, where he signed on for an initial two years. 8. Ryan Croasdale Croasdale began his career with Championship side Preston North End, before moving to Sheffield Wednesday as a youngster. Things kickstarted for him after his move to Kidderminster, captaining the side as they reached the play-offs for a second consecutive season. His move to AFC Fylde in 2018 still stands as Fylde’s transfer record, as the midfield general joined for a reported £50,000. 9. Jamie Proctor In January, AFC Fylde moved to sign

Matty Kosylo striker Jamie Proctor on-loan from Rotherham United until the end of the season. The powerful forward, 27, cut his loan at Scunthorpe United short to make the switch to the Coasters. Proctor made his name when he came through Preston North End’s academy, making 6 appearances in the Championship, before appearing 31 times in League One for the Lilywhites. 10. Danny Philliskirk The experienced midfielder joined AFC Fylde in the Summer of 2018, after two seasons at neighbours Blackpool. Philliskirk started his career at his hometown club Oldham Athletic before signing a four-year contract with Chelsea in 2007. During this time, he spent time out on loan at Oxford United and Sheffield United before signing for the Blades in 2011. Philliskirk made over 40 appearances last year in the Coasters side and scored a memorable winner away at Solihull Moors in the playoff semi-final to set-up a playoff final with Salford City. 11. Jordan Williams Williams joined the Coasters following the expiration of his contract at Rochdale on a two-year deal, where he made 24 appearances in League One in the 2018/19 season. Rochdale signed Williams from Barrow back in June 2017, for a fee believed to be in the DAGGERS.CO.UK PAGE 07

AFC FYLDE region of £100k, after a season where he netted 12 goals in 42 appearances for the Bluebirds. 12. Luke Burke Burke started his career at Wigan Athletic aged 12, where he progressed through the age groups until he signed his first professional contract in July 2016. The Coasters secured a loan move of full-back on the final day of the 2017/18 summer transfer window. The 20year-old initially joined up with the Coasters until the end of January, however the deal was extended until the end of the season before he made the move permanent in the summer of 2019. 14. Tom Miller Fylde completed the signing of defender Tom Miller last month, joining the Coasters until the end of the season. Miller, 29, who was most recently at Bury, has a wealth of experience – clocking up just short of 100 Football League appearances for Carlisle United. Before his time at Carlisle, Miller spent four seasons at Lincoln City, playing 129 times and scoring on 11 occasions. 15. Dan Bradley Dan Bradley rejoined AFC Fylde in January 2019 signing a two-and-ahalf-year deal, following his departure to Kidderminster Harriers 18 months earlier. Bradley initially joined the Coasters back in 2016 from Alfreton Town for what was then a club record fee. Forming a formidable partnership in the Vanarama National League North with Danny Rowe, Bradley notched 18 goals himself, whilst proving a great foil for Rowe, who bagged a monstrous 47 himself. One of which was in the playoff eliminator against Harrogate Town to take the Coasters through to the semi-final. 16. Andy Taylor AFC Fylde signed defender Andy

Taylor on a short-term deal, after departing League Two side Oldham in the summer, having trained with AFC Fylde and impressing. After leaving Sheffield United in 2012 where he played 26 times in the Championship, Taylor spent four successful years in League One with Walsall, making a total of 159 appearances for the Saddlers. With over 300 league appearances, Taylor will be well remembered on the Fylde coast as Blackpool FC’s captain in their 2016/17 season, where they gained promotion to League One via the playoffs. 17. Mark Yeates Yeates has a wealth of experience in England, having clocked up well over 500 senior appearances, playing in the Premier League down to the National League. He enjoyed brilliant spells at Watford, Sheffield United, and Colchester United where he was part of the U’s side that were promoted to the Championship in 2006. Yeates, 34, enjoyed an incredible season with fellow National League playoff contenders Eastleigh last campaign, where he registered 26 assists in their league campaign before joining the Coasters on a one-year deal in the summer. 20. Tom Walker AFC Fylde announced the signing of Tom Walker from Salford City on January 8th, joining the Coasters on a two-and-a-half-year contract. The attacker began his career at Bolton Wanderers, making 18 appearances in the Championship. Walker joined Bury on loan in League One, before spells at Stockport County and FC United preceded a move to Salford City. He was part of the Ammies side that won promotion at Wembley at the Coasters expense, making appearances in League Two, before joining Stockport on loan prior to his Coasters switch.

21. Dan Lavercombe Lavercombe joined The Coasters on a one-year deal following the expiration of his contract at Wigan Athletic, who he joined back in January of 2016. His journey started back in his home city of Torquay, where he broke into the first team at just 18 years old. After this, he joined Wigan Athletic before rejoining Torquay on loan, where he made 25 appearances in total in the National League. 27. Nick Haughton Nick Haughton joined the club in October 2018 on a permanent deal for an undisclosed fee from Salford City. The creative midfielder kickstarted his career when he joined Fleetwood Town in 2014, making 40 appearances with the Cod Army before enjoying loan spells at Nantwich Town and Salford City. Haughton was ever-present in the Coasters side last season, picking up the Man of the Match award at Wembley Stadium in the FA Trophy final against Leyton Orient. 31. Sam Hornby AFC Fylde signed goalkeeper Sam Hornby on-loan from Bradford City. Hornby joined Bradford City in the summer on a free transfer from Port Vale, where he made 11 appearances in League 2. Hornby enjoyed loan spells with Brackley Town and Kidderminster Harriers whilst at Burton Albion, before making the switch to Port Vale in the summer of 2017. Alongside his 15 appearances for Vale, a loan switch to Chester in the National League materialised, where he gained important experience for the Seals, before being recalled. 33. Andy Kellet Former Bolton Wanderers youth product Andy Kellet came through the Trotters Academy making four appearances, before a permanent switch to Wigan. After 14 appearances for The Tics, he made the switch to Chesterfield in League Two, before joining Notts County. He joined the Coasters on a shortterm deal in December.

2008 – FA VASE WINNERS Kirkham & Wesham won the FA Vase at the first attempt in 2007/08. Mick Fuller’s side defeated Worsbrough Bridge 3-0, Brodsworth MW 4-3, Parkgate 5-0, West Auckland Town 3-0, Newcastle Benfield 5-2, Studley 3-0, Crowborough Athletic 2-0, Coventry Sphinx 1-0 and Needham Market 4-2 en route to the final. Two late goals from teenage substitute Matt Walwyn secured a dramatic 2-1 victory over Lowestoft Town watched by 19,537 at Wembley Stadium. Kirkham & Wesham began life PAGE 14 DAGGERS.CO.UK

in the North West Counties League First Division with a 5-0 win at home to Darwen and secured promotion as runners-up when they defeated Castleton Gabriels 3-1. 2009 – TITLE TRIUMPH The newly-named AFC Fylde won the North West Counties League Premier Division title at the first attempt in 2008/09. The Coasters won 33 of their 42 North West Counties League games and scored 122 goals, slamming six past Abbey Hey, Ashton Athletic and Runcorn Linnets as well as

five past Formby, New Mills and Winsford United. Mick Fuller’s side remained unbeaten at home and gained a record 104 points, pipping New Mills to the title on goal difference as they won promotion to the First Division (North) of the Northern Premier League. AFC Fylde lost their grip on the FA Vase after losing 2-1 at home to Needham Market in a fourth round replay. 2012 – RUNAWAY CHAMPIONS AFC Fylde stormed to the Northern Premier League First Division (North) title in 2011/12.

Ex-Republic of Ireland international goalkeeper Kelham O'Hanlon was dismissed as manager in November 2011 after a poor run of results and replaced by Dave Challinor. The Coasters were 16 points off the top when he arrived at the club but quickly surged up the table. They trounced Harrogate Railway Athletic 7-0, Clitheroe 6-2 and Ossett Town 5-0, clinching the title with a 1–0 win over Salford City at Kellamergh Park. AFC Fylde won 31 of their 42 Northern Premier League games and gained 99 points, finishing seven ahead of runners-up Curzon Ashton. 2013 – PROMOTION PLAY-OFFS AFC Fylde qualified for the Northern Premier League Premier Division play-offs in 2012/13. The Coasters lost only two of their opening 14 Northern Premier League games and reached the FA Cup first round proper, losing 4-1 to Accrington Stanley in front of 1,213 at Kellamergh Park. They won 4-0 against Kendal Town and Marine in consecutive matches over Christmas, then slammed five goals against Blyth Spartans and Eastwood Town. Michael Barnes, Adam Farrell and James Dean scored 45 goals between them as AFC Fylde qualified for the play-offs in fifth position. They lost 3-1 on penalties to Hednesford Town after a 3-3 draw in the semi-final. 2014 – PROMOTION WINNERS AFC Fylde won promotion to the Conference North in 2013/14. The Coasters lost just one of their opening 13 matches, hammering Worksop 6-1 and Droylsden 5-0 in consecutive games. Brad Barnes scored five goals in their 10-0 win in the return match at Droylsden and Dave Challinor’s side dropped only six points in a 17 match unbeaten run. Matt Blinkhorn was top scorer with 17 goals as they qualified for the Northern Premier League Premier Division play-offs in fifth place. AFC Fylde beat Worksop 3-1 in the semi-finals,

then Ashton 4-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in the final. AFC Fylde scored 109 goals as they gained 88 points, finishing six ahead of runners-up Kidderminster. 2018 – CONFERENCE PLAY-OFFS AFC Fylde qualified for the Conference National play-offs in 2017/18. The Coasters also slammed six goals past Havant & Waterlooville and Danny Rowe was top scorer with 27 goals as they qualified for the play-offs in fifth place. In the reverse of this fixture, the Daggers came out emphatic 6-1 winners at Victoria Road, but before this game, found themselves 5 points behind their opponents, having only lost once in the league in 2020. The hosts made a rapid start to proceedings, nearly finding themselves in front after the first minute when Lewis Walker met a header, which was too tame to bother Elliot Justham. The Daggers, on the other hand, were struggling to get a good hold of the ball and, in turn, were unable to create any real chances. The visitorsâ€™ first real show of intent came 18 minutes into the game, when Justham hit a long ball upfield to set Alex Reid on his way, who passed across to Matt Robinson, but his blocked effort eventually went over for a corner. Reid was continually the target for the Daggersâ€™ counter-attacks, but was struggling to stay onside with the Shots playing a high line, though he looked like he would be the key for the visitors to break the deadlock. With half an hour gone, there had been very little action to suggest that either side deserved to lead, with the tempo of the game ebbing and flowing. A goal might have been looking unlikely, but it nearly came for the Daggers out of nowhere when Reid received the ball on the edge of the box and struck, just missing the top left corner of the goal. No changes were made at the break, though it felt like a new Daggers side at the start of the second half, with the team playing with a much more positive attitude in possession. The same could also be said for the Shots, who were occasionally getting in behind the Dagenham backline, suggesting it would be a much more entertaining second half than the first. The game really came alive just before the hour mark, when Sam Deering sold three defenders, before playing through Mitch Brundle whose effort was blocked. Aldershot looked to counter swiftly, and were inches away from taking the lead had it not been for the outstretched arm of Justham. The game was becoming very end to end, with Daryl McMahon doing all he could to swing the game in the Daggers’ favour, having made all three subs by the 70th minute, including Myles Weston, Ben House and Chike Kandi. It was Kandi who came closest to getting the game’s first goal, with his effort going the wrong side of the post. With five minutes left on the clock, it was another substitute who looked to make a difference and this time it paid off, thanks to Myles Weston, who gathered the ball on the right. After travelling a long way with the ball, the ex-Ebbsfleet man was able to find a composed pass to Brundle in the box, who struck calmly to take the lead. The Daggers had a nervous last few minutes, but were able to see out a massive away win in what was a hardfought game in the end. My first appearance obviously didn’t go how I would have wanted it to go, but now I really feel like myself, having had a couple of weeks in training with all of the lads. “When I came on, I was literally only thinking about getting back to doing what I know I can do well, and that’s being positive and helping the team as much as I can. To get the assist for the winning goal, I was just over the moon to have helped out in such a telling way.” Weston went on to talk about his versatility as a player: “I can play in multiple positions; at Ebbsfleet this season I’ve played at both wing-back positions, striker, in the number 10 role, left-back, so I’ve played loads of positions, even just this season. In the system that Daryl has played most often during his time here though, I feel like either wing-back position is probably where I’m most comfortable and effective.” On the disappointment of picking up an injury early on in his Daggers debut, Myles said: “As soon as I picked up that little niggle I was just thinking ‘this ain’t my debut’, because the Dagenham & Redbridge fans hadn’t had a chance to see what I can really do, so I just focused on getting back into training to get fit again as quickly as possible. The upside now is that I’ve come back ready to get stuck in, with full confidence in my body, and registered an important assist, so it’s definitely a start.” The experienced wide-man netted himself a goal in a behind-closeddoors friendly last Tuesday, which

he said benefitted him hugely in the lead up to his return to National League football: “Playing in the friendly last week really helped me a lot, because whatever anyone says, there is a difference between your output in training and in a game, however small the difference may be. Only when you’re out there giving it 100% in a match is when you know you’ve got your confidence back in your body. Scoring a goal was good of course, but the main thing was the bigger picture, which is getting, and staying, fit. “In a selfish way, it’s also been a good thing that we’ve had a couple of games rearranged, because it’s allowed players like myself to continue working towards full match fitness, in time for the important run-in as we near the end of the season.” Myles then highlighted the good work going on behind the scenes at the Club, and his belief that the upcoming games can be successful ones for the Daggers: “This squad of players seems way better, to me, than the league

position indicates – and the work that the management and coaching team are putting in is definitely proving to be successful in terms of results that the team are picking up out on the pitch. “It’s positive that we’ve hit a bit of decent form recently, and we’re going to try to continue climbing a place at a time in the league, so that there’ll come a time when we don’t have to look over our shoulders, and we can just look forward at performing as well as we can and finishing as high up the table as possible.” Weston also praised the fans after their support at recent games: “To the fans, I would say that they should just be prepared for excitement! For me, knowing how Daryl is, I think it’s clear that this team would rather risk it all for three points rather than settling for one. The Bluebirds extended their lead at the top with a 2-1 win thanks to goals from Tom White and Patrick Brough either side of an equaliser from Alex Reid. Daryl McMahon made one change from the 2-0 home win over Solihull Moors, with goal-scorer Reid coming into the side for Luke Croll. There were early chances for both sides in the opening two minutes, Ben House getting past his man in the box before having his shot blocked, then Josh Kay had a strike at goal which Elliot Justham tipped over the bar. The home side did take the lead seven minutes into the match through Tom White, as the midfielder fired into the bottom corner from the edge of the area. The away side didn’t let the goal affect their play and there was a quick equaliser just three minutes later through Alex Reid. Mitch Brundle did extremely well to keep the ball in the Daggers’ possession and after a brilliant flick forward from Angelo Balanta, Reid found space on the left-hand side to fire a shot across Joel Dixon into the bottom right-hand corner. The Bluebirds were finding space over the top of the Daggers defence and Dior Angus ran onto a pass heading towards Justham, but Kenny Clark timed his tackle perfectly to stop the forward having a shot at goal. Angus timed his run well again to get in behind the defence, and Clark couldn’t get a touch of the ball, bringing down his man for a penalty to the home side in the 27th minute. John Rooney stepped up to take the penalty, but Justham saved to his left-hand side before Gordon cleared away from danger! The home side did take the lead a minute later. Following the goal, Barrow were in control of the game and came close to adding to their lead two minutes before half-time. Sam Hird’s volley smashed against the crossbar before the Daggers were able to clear their lines, which was the last real chance at goal before the end of the first half. The wind caused some problems for the east London side in the first half, but it worked in the away side's favour at the start of the second period, carrying the ball into the penalty area before Deering’s strike was deflected over for a corner. Andrew Eleftheriou was played in behind by House, but Lewis Hardcastle got back well to clear the ball before the full back was able to get a shot at goal. The chances were few and far between for both sides, with conditions taking their toll, but the Bluebirds had the chance for a third in the 74th minute. Angus’ flicked effort was saved by Justham before some great defending between Liam Gordon and Clark denied Connor Brown inside the area. With the Daggers looking to get back into the game, the conditions became extremely difficult for both sides to deal with. House tried to fire a cross into the box, but the ball blew back closer to him than any player inside the box. The referee blew time on the match with the Daggers having pushed the league leaders all the way, but ultimately falling to a 2-1 defeat away in Cumbria. Follow the signs to Elstree and go straight over two roundabouts; at the third roundabout take the second exit into Brook Road. Broughinge Road is first turning on the right, after the big car park. Dagenham & Redbridge ran out 2-0 winners over Solihull Moors as the east London side hosted the first ever ‘Daggers Celebrate Diversity Day’! The Daggers went into the game off the back of reaching the final of the BBC Essex Senior Cup, while Solihull went into the game occupying the last of the six play-off places. The proceedings started at quite a slow pace with neither side really showing any threat in the final third. However, by the tenth minute, Dagenham found themselves off the mark when an inviting ball from Sam Deering was met by Manny Onariase’s head, which was then headed in at the far post by Mitch Brundle. The visitors didn’t let that take them down, seeing more of the ball after the goal and starting to create more chances, including one from Jason Cowley which was headed just wide. The Daggers were still showing signs though that a second was coming, with Matt Robinson flashing an effort just wide of the mark. This was before Solihull nearly found their equaliser when Mitch Hancox struck a wonderful shot, which cannoned back off the crossbar. Solihull continued to show a presence in the final third, trying to create a decent effort on goal. Just before the halfway point, the Daggers doubled their lead when Ben House squared a perfect ball into the path of Angelo Balanta, who slotted home comfortably. tirelessly to retrieve possession. After the restart, Balanta attempted to repay House when he played through a ball on the counter, but it was too heavy for the Reading loanee to catch. The ever-reliable Elliot Justham was on hand with half an hour to go, keeping the Daggers two ahead when he pulled off an unbelievable save to deny the visitors from a set-piece. Wrexham have announced plans for a new 5,000 capacity all-seater stand at the Kop end of their Racecourse Stadium.The Wrexham Gateway Project would see the capacity increased to over 15,000. The plans, backed by the club, Wrexham County Borough Council, the Welsh Government and Glyndwr University were unveiled in July 2019. York City have said two of their players "were threatened with physical violence" after their National League North home defeat by Hereford on Tuesday 3rd March. The club said they are liaising with local police and have asked for any witnesses to "contact the club directly". His side had just lost an FA Trophy quarter-final. He’d said all the things you’d expect. Disappointed that his side had been below par, frustrated at the goals they’d conceded and rued the missed opportunity of a trip to Wembley. Then, after checking the assembled press had got what they needed and all dictaphones were off, he cheered, ‘I’m so glad we’re out!’ In truth, you could partly see his point. They were going for promotion, something the club desperately wanted and the additional games could have been a tipping point. But the Trophy has had a bit of a kicking in recent years. Managers moaning about fixture pile-ups, calls for it to become a midweek competition, there was even a spell when the final was moved to March in a bid to help those Step 1 clubs. Thankfully the FA have held their ground and moving the finals back to Wembley in May - as they have been in recent years since the inception of Non-League Finals Day - has restored the showpiece final to its rightful place. And it’s a competition that has thrown up some wonderful stories. Not least this season with the incredible run of Step 4 duo Halesowen Town and Aveley. Both caused upsets on their way to

the quarter-final, where Aveley finally bowed out in front of 500 travelling fans at Notts County. Manager Keith Rowland couldn’t have been prouder of his players and spoke about how it has helped their league form. Now their focus returns to winning promotion from the BetVictor Isthmian Division One North. For Halesowen the journey, remarkably, continues. An extratime win against Barnet keeps their dream alive and is conjuring memories of their famous past when they were a big Non-League hitter in the 70s and 80s. No one would have called the Yeltz reaching the final four. But 13 games later - including replays Paul Smith’s side are a two-legged semi-final away from reaching Wembley. opponent will be. National League South Concord Rangers saw their quarter-final with Step 3 Royston postponed at the weekend. Both those sides are also enjoying fantastic runs of their own. It’s been the year of the underdog in NonLeague’s top cup comp. On the face of it, all three will be thinking they’re unlikely to get a better chance of getting to the famous stadium. National League pair Harrogate Town and Notts County make up the other semi. But the unpredictability is what makes the football so exciting. One lucky club will be climbing the Wembley steps victorious not too long from now. Yes, there will be a knock-on effect with their league fixtures.
