THE ARCHITECTURE TEAM
WHY US?
Good design doesn’t just happen.
It comes from the power of partnership with our clients.
Founded in 1981, our thoughtfully designed projects can be found along vibrant city streets, on university campuses, in state and local governments, in school districts, and wherever people come to gather.
At DAG Architects, we believe that the strongest testament to our commitment and delivery of services is the number of legacy clients who return to us time and again. At the heart of every project is our deep desire to deliver places that have a positive impact. We work hand in hand with our clients to meet the needs of multiple stakeholder groups, while guarding the project budget to provide outstanding value.
The DAG staff includes registered architects with varied expertise as well as licensed general contractors who can bring specific client-side insight to a project. This broad range of expertise provides immense resources and experience not often found under one roof. Our services include master planning, programming, feasibility studies, schematic design, design development, interior architecture, and construction administration and management. With more than 90 professionals on staff, our clients are assured of having a design firm capable of meeting the daily challenges of any project.
Roger Godwin, AIA,
LEED AP
Managing Principal
Roger attended Auburn University where he earned three degrees: Bachelor of Arts in Architecture, Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design and Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Design. After, Roger moved to Atlanta to work for one of the city’s largest and most successful architectural firms. He later formed an interior architectural firm which rapidly became successful and was ultimately sold it to Gensler.
Roger became a principal in DAG while maintaining his Atlanta-based interiors firm. Growing up in rural Alabama and working on his family’s farm, Roger gained great respect for space, light, nature, and hard work. A few years ago, he renovated the old homeplace and credits that experience with giving him a greater appreciation for the work the firm does. Roger is a member of the American Institute of Architects, serves on the GSA National Design Peer Review, and is a Senior Fellow in the Design Futures Council.
Larry Sweat, AIA Principal
Larry brings to DAG Architects a portfolio of design experience in thirty states. His team leadership skills have provided for many award-winning projects throughout his forty-three years of practice. Larry embraces a design philosophy that focuses on the project and its surrounding market, taking into account even the most subtle of market influences, which can often be overlooked. His goal on every project is to deliver maximum value to the client by providing design concepts that not only achieve an appropriate aesthetic but also contribute to the success of the client’s mission.
Previously, Larry served as the Design Principal for MSTSD, an Atlanta-based design firm. After 31 years, firm leadership decided to retire the firm. Larry joined DAG to lead the firm’s expansion into the Atlanta market. He has a distinct passion for projects that are designed for the end-user. Whether retail, healthcare, multifamily, institutional or mixed-use in nature, Larry seizes the opportunity to guide and shape the design effort so as to ultimately bring to market a building that is successful for both owners and the community.
