While an increase of stress hormones is normal and even healthy during pregnancy, too much cortisol can pose an increased risk not only to your partner, but because it diffuses across the placenta, high levels of cortisol can also prove problematic for the baby as well.

So one of the BEST and most valuable ways that you can contribute during pregnancy is to do everything you can to create as much harmony and relaxation for your partner (and baby) as possible.

• Find ways to help out around the house (without being asked!)

• Be present, and not just for the appointments and checkups… be there emotionally as well. Listen. Talk. Connect. Console.

• Run a bath, light some candles, give massages.
