Letters from DNE Hello, District 33 Roosters! I am Jelitza Tapia, your District News Editor.

I just want to start off by saying how great the 2021 Grammy Awards Show was. We got to see many wonderful artists perform at the 2021 Grammys that night and even though the event was not the same as 2019, I still enjoyed watching it and I hope you guys feel the same way too! We got to see performances by Harry Styles, Billie Eilish, Megan Thee Stallion, Cardi B, Post Malone, and many more awesome artists.

The songs were endless that night. Beyoncé went home with home Four Grammy’s that evening but sadly Post Malone went home emptyhanded. Megan Thee Stallion and Billie Eilish made massive accomplishments that night. May I also add that Harry Edward Styles won Best Pop Solo Performance at the 2021 Grammys. Even though he did not win the most awards that night he still had a good performance and may I also say outfit. I would say overall the 2021 Grammys Award Show was another one to remember especially for the women that took the stage by storm that night. I hope that everyone had a lucky St. Patrick Day! If you see a penny pick it up and the rest of your day you’ll have good luck, but in the pandemic please do not go around picking up pennies or anything off the ground that did not belong to you in the first place. Even though things are picking back up, schools are opening, in Texas everything is open, and restaurants are opening up again we as a community can still do our part for keeping our towns safe. Every day that goes by, we are one step closer than where we were yesterday. Just hold on and we will get through it together. 1 out of 4 adults has been given one dose of the vaccine, so basically, we are already 25% the way there. March is known for St.Patrick’s Day so of course, this month’s newsletter will be St.Patrick’s Day-themed. In D33’s newsletter, this month will have our usual Club Service Activity Highlights, March SOSP, and a page inspired by our LTG elect Julio Gutierrez. This month’s newsletter was delightful to make as always and I appreciate everyone who contributed to the newsletter this month. Please share the newsletter with your fellow Key Club members and to anyone who you think would be interested in joining our Key Club team! Remember Roosters, be safe, be careful, and always wear a mask.

LTG Farewell Happy March D33 Roosters!!

I hope you are doing well and staying safe. It’s crazy to think that we have already been in quarantine for one whole year! I hope you all made your quarantine experience worthwhile by taking up a new hobby, being more productive, or helping your parents. As we continue through this pandemic I want to remind and encourage all of you to remain positive and find the motivation to look towards your future endeavors!

I am writing to you because this is my final month as your Lt. Governor, but let’s leave this on a positive note and reflect on the successes of our term! It has been my great pleasure and honor to have been able to serve all of you! Even though my term has come to an end, I will still be here supporting the clubs and guiding your new Lt. Governor (Julio Gutierrez) for the 2021-2022 term!! I hope you all give him the opportunity to get to know you all just like you gave me. I have no doubt that Julio will continue strengthening the key club ohana by setting more challenging goals and introducing fresh ideas in this rebuilding phase.

For me, this virtual term was very challenging but also very rewarding. As the Division 33 Lt. Governor, I grew as a person and as a leader. Meeting students from Kern county gave me the opportunity to build new friendships, gain a new perspective about the key club organization and Kiwanis family. When I took on the role of Lt. Governor, I quickly learned the position had been vacant for three years.

Even though I did not know much about Key Club beyond the club level I made it my mission to focus on rebuilding and forging strong communication. During my term, I was able to reconnect the active clubs in our division, but don’t stop there!

Please continue bonding with D33 clubs and introducing new members to Key Club.

Overall, my term as an LTG came with many obstacles, but I took them as positive challenges to continue improving our division. I want the next generation of service leaders to continue learning about the importance of serving with compassion and positivity. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve your clubs and always accepting my guidance!

DLT Reflection Maai Lozano: As Fundraising Coordinator, I was able to collaborate with many key club members, and Kiwanis members to be able to help make the fundraiser such as the art auction a success. I enjoyed being able to meet new people and be creative with the fundraisers. I am very thankful to have been a part of an amazing group of people, whom I was able to get to know better.

When it comes to my favorite division service activity, there are so many great events that I was glad to be a part of, but I would have to say that my favorite one was the Links for Life. Being able to write letters to amazing women who are fighting for themselves day in and day out was truly an honor. A piece of advice that I would give to the next DLT team is to not be shy and show the leadership skills that you have! It is okay to ask for help, that is why you are a team but have FUN!

Monthly Challenge Go outside and enjoy the simple things in life like appreciating the things "teens" take for granted, such as still being able to be a kid.

Club Service Activities South Bakersfield Key Club participated in the Division Origami Service hosted by Service Coordinator Juana Melgoza.

This activity was very successful and we made a huge amount of origami's for the children at Memorial Hospital.

On March 10, the Wonderful College Prep Academy (WCPA) Key Club held a meeting to discuss fundraising ideas. The funds raised would be used to purchase graduation memorabilia for the seniors that have taken a large part in the promotion of the WCPA Key Club at the division level. The people who would receive the memorabilia include officers, advisors, and active members as they should all be rewarded for the extra work they did to make this club function.

Arvin’s first service project in our first year was spending Valentine's Day with Arvin’s nursing home. We have made it a tradition but could not go to their party due to COVID so we decided to make them Valentine Day Cards to keep the tradition alive.

The Key Club family came together to congratulate first-time mothers by making cute cards and offering them any type of parenting advice. They gathered information from a credible website to help the first-time moms out and to wish them the best of life.

Old Business In the month of February, D33 had held a February DCM, Kiwanas DCM, LTG election, and Lt. Governor Training. In our February DCM D33 discussed club service activity highlights, the March Service Activity (get well soon cards), and the planning on the division fundraiser for our upcoming merch! The February DCM also contributed to the speaking about improving D33's activity on our social media and unconnected our former LTG elect Julio G. The Kiwanas meeting introduced their ideas and opinions on the upcoming merch and informed members of Key Club and Kiwanas what their look forward to and what they are expecting in the next term. Julio Gutierrez won D33's LTG election. To become our new LTG, Julio had to answer a variety of Key Club-related questions. Only people from the DLT "staff" could join and anyone else who was invited to participate.
