Letter From DNE Hello, District 33, Roosters! I am Jelitza Tapia, your District News Editor. To anyone who celebrates Christmas, Merry Christmas! And to anyone who celebrates, Kwanzaa, Happy Kwanzaa. And to anyone that celebrates Hanukkah, Happy Hanukkah! If you do not celebrate any of those Holidays, then have a Happy soon to be New Years! Speaking of New Years', I am pleased to know that 2020 is coming to an end and that 2021 is just around the corner. I cannot believe what a year it has been. 2019 I could have never known what 2020 had in store. Well, probably not any toilet paper. Many crazy events have happened this year, like Covid, everything closing down, the presidential election, and much more. I am also sure there are still more events to come to finish off this miserable year. Even though a lot of wild things have happened this year, we can still make this Christmas awesome. Christmas is a time of joy, spending time with family, and most importantly, spirit. This is why we can’t let the last moments of 2020 drag our Christmas spirits down. We have to remember the good times we have had over this year and how we can make the new year even better. Also, I know this is the season for Finals! If you did your finals before Christmas break, then awesome. If your finals are after Christmas break, then you better start preparing. I know it still feels like you have time but don’t worry. They will be here before you know it. I also know finals can be pretty stressful, so during the break take the time to chill and relax with your family. Even though Thanksgiving has passed. Make sure to be grateful for what you have because I know a lot of us, including me, took a lot of things for granted. It’s sad to think that it took a worldwide pandemic to show us that. Especially when many of us did overlook a whole lot of what we had. This is why we need to stop and be grateful for what we have and whom we have to spend the rest of the year. One thing I'm sure of is that many people are thankful for Black Friday because I know I was. I bought some great presents for my family this year to show them how much I appreciate them. Now it is time to talk about December's newsletter. For this month, of course, I did a Christmas-themed newsletter. The newsletter will contain old business, new business, and information about the December SOSP. As always I am very proud of this month’s newsletter and very happy with the way it turned out. I hope you guys feel the same and if you liked it please share it with your fellow D33 members! Remember Roosters, be safe, be careful, and always wear a mask.
CLUB Service Activity Highlights Wonderful’s Tree Decorating Service Activity Highlights Wonderful decorating trees in a local park to spread the Christmas cheer. I hear that even though they were a small group they had tons of fun.
December SOSP Our Service Focus For The Month Of December
For the month of December, our service focus is to provide basic needs to those who need them.
Fundraising + Event
Baked goods are a staple during the holiday season. This means it's a great time to host a bake sale. Funds can be donated to a charity or cause of your voice, or can be put to making care packages. It's a awareness of the cause you are fundraising for and to let buyers know about it.
Coat Drive Toys and Cars
IDEAS Bake sale Gift Wrapping Have extra coats laying around? Did you outgrow that warm, fleece zip-up jacket? No worries, host a coat drive. Have members donate hoodies. This is an awesome way for members to clear out their closet and all coats can be donated to your homeless shelter or orphanage
Old Business For D33's old business we have November's and December's DCM. For November's DCM we talked about our plans for the Division Art Auction and when the club's dues were due. At the Division's December DCM we again talked about future sign-ups and dates for the Art Auction. We also discussed December's SOSP, candidate training conference, and upcoming events.
New Business ~January DCM: 23rd @ 1pm 2021 ~Art Social: January 19th, 2021 ~On-Time Dues Update: February 1st 2021
Due to Covid, Key Club International has extended on-time dues. Please make sure to get dues done. Please don’t wait until the last minute. If you need any help in sending the invoice please reach out to your club advisors or the Lt. Governor. It is very important to register all of our Key Club members and also meet one of our Division 33 goals: On-Time Dues!
Please make sure to contact the Fundraising Coordinator (Maai Lozano) if you would like to donate an art creation of your own for the auction. You can ask her about the details and share your artwork idea!
