Rise-N-Shine Post

Volume 1 | Issue 8 | April 2021

To my fellow Key Club members and Kiwanians, Hello everyone! My name is Julio Gutierrez, and I will be serving as your Division 33 Lieutenant Governor for the 2021-2022 term. My home club is at Wonderful College Prep Academy in Delano, California. I am a junior there, but my term will continue into my senior year. Sadly many extracurriculars have been delayed or outright canceled due to the pandemic, so Key Club is my only extracurricular activity at the moment. Some extracurriculars I used to be involved in are basketball, chess club, gaming club, and ASB. I have been part of Key Club since sophomore year. During this period, I have served as an honorary member, an active club member, and a club level committee chairman. Overall, I have learned the importance of networking to find opportunities, and I am now applying that knowledge on the division level to try and open new opportunities for the division. After looking at the information from Division 33, I want to continue the communication and restructuring during this term, while putting an emphasis on member recruitment. As a former key club officer from Division 33, I have seen the improvement in the last year on my club level, and I hope to find new ways to improve the division even further this year. Some ideas I have are filling new DLT positions, creating a division website, and starting up more in-person activities as the pandemic clears up. In closing, I am very excited to see what we can do together during this term to continue the improvement of Division 33, and I look forward to restarting in-person activities. There is a bright future ahead of us. By continuing to work together, we can grow to reach new heights on the club, division, and individual level. I am here to serve the servers, so feel free to contact me about any necessities, questions, or even suggestions. Key Club has taught us all we can make a difference.

Cock-A-Doodle-Dooing into Service,

Julio Gutierrez Division 33 2021-2022 Lieutenant Governor

After selecting the type of travel you are using you will reach an advert along with a stopwatch, distance tracker, speed tracker, and finish button. The app DOES NOT REQUIRE the phone to be on and in the app to track the time or distance. Feel free to leave your phone in your pocket turned off. It will stop your session when you finish, or when your phone dies due to a lack of battery. If a session is less than 0.10 mi, equal to 528 ft., the session will not be tracked or donated for by the app. Accidentally clicking the finish button is fine, it will track as you are in that screen, but you may press continue to return to the if you don't want to risk accidentally pressing the final finish button. Take a screenshot before clicking the final finish button to verify times and distances. Click done and you will be back on the homescreen with a new total steps.

When D33 was still in the month of March, we were able to accomplish a few activities and a couple of club meetings. Division 33 had events such as the March DCM, Kiwanis DCM, March of Dimes, and DCON Highlights through March. D33's March DCM was held on the 20th and started at 3pm then ended around 4pm. In the March DCM, D33 discussed old Business, New Business, Division Service/Fundraiser, Club Elections, LTG Retirement, DLT Reports, Club Reports, Club Service Activity of the Year, SOSP, DCON 2021, Monthly and Yearly Recognition. The Kiwanis DCM was about congratulating prior officers and ltg's for their work in the 2020-2021 term. The Kiwanis DCM also gave other members general information about keeping up with the well being of the Kiwanis clubs. The March of Dimes was a card activity brought up by Juana M. The March of Dimes was event for Key Club members to join over zoom to make cards for soon to be Mothers. The event was very heart warming. DCON, hosted by the California-Nevada-Hawaii District of Key Club International, celebrated the hard-work of all the members and officers. It also provided new training to the 2021-2022 term officers and held elections for the District Board.
