Woman killed after saving Rabbi in synagogue shooting in CA By Olivia Maranan May 2, 2019 During the end of Passover mass on Saturday at the Chabad of Poway in California, a 19-year-old shooter injured 3 people and killed 1 woman after she stepped between the shooter and the Rabbi. Lori Kaye, 60, was at the synagogue praying for her late mother when she saved the life of Rabbi Yisroel Goldstein. According to a doctor at the Palomar Medical Center, Goldstein suffered only defensive wounds to both index fingers. The Rabbi spoke the next day at a vigil about Kaye saying that she was "the example of kindness to the fullest extent. She was more about living than taking and she did it with such a smile.” A synagogue in Skokie held a night of prayer and unity Monday at 6:00 p.m. According to WGN9, t he Jewish United Fund of Metropolitan Chicago issued this statement. “...This sacred day of solemnity, a day meant to recall deceased loved ones, was shattered by a white supremacist’s Jewish-specific hate-fueled attack, forever altering how the members of Chabad of Poway and Jews everywhere will think about the last day of Passover...” Photo courtesy of CNN
