DNE MESSAGE : What’s up Blue Turtles ! Phew ! Exams and the stress of school are over for now and we get to relax for a little bit for Thanksgiving. I hope you all take this time to destress ! Personally I’ve been incredibly busy with tests and homework and I’m really relieved we finally get a break, I can’t imagine how it is for those who have college apps (you’ll do great, I believe in you). Even with these outside factors that make us all busy, I’m so proud of you all for also completing service hours. It’s amazing to see the amount of hours you are completing, not only with school, but also with the pandemic and I could not be happier to serve and just be apart of Division 10 South in general ( you guys should be proud too)! As it gets colder, I hope you guys are taking care of your health as well, and please stay safe ! Especially if you are going out...wear a mask !

LTG MESSAGE : What’s up Blue Turtles ! I hope that you all are doing well as we face the busy season of exams and college applications! I’m truly amazed by the wonderful progress we have made and can’t wait to see how much as we swim through the second half of our term! We had a busy October, and we have equally exciting months ahead of us! I was so glad to see so many of you present at RTC and participate in our service projects! I hope they were great experiences for you all. For future events, keep an eye out for a division Key Leader workshop, Candidate Training Conference (CTC), and more! We also made amazing progress towards our division goals this month! As a division, we are now 50% towards our service hour goal and 25% towards our fundraising goal! Thank you all for your effort and devoted commitment towards Key Club, we appreciate it so much! I also hope that you all are taking care of yourselves! Remember to take breaks, relax, drink water, and sleep! And, as always, feel free to reach out to me if you need anything. Thank you for being the best division ever

On October 24th, Region 13 held its Harry Potter RTC! With all of the Region 13 LTGs hosting this RTC, this event had an amazing turnout ! The event started with an icebreaker in which members had to guess the Harry Potter reference of emoji combinations. Then our LTG, Jerica Fang, presented Key Club 101 to the region in order to settle in those who may to new to the club. Throughout the event, members when to various workshops, and in between workshops, the LTGs would give presentations and read Lovebox submissions. Additionally, this RTC was held in conjunction with each division’s DCMs.
On October 30th, Division 10 South held a fundraiser at Onezo SoCal. This not only help fundraise for the division, but also let members earn some of their fall rally requirement points. It was very successful, with many turning up to support !

Hey There Lovely Turtles! My name is Qin Chen, and I am a senior at Mark Keppel High School and serve as the Member Recognition Coordinator of this Key Club term 2020-2021! My responsibilities specific to being MRC consists of recognizing outstanding turtles every month during the division’s month DCMs through nomination forms, certificates, and awards and working with our Division Lieutenant Governor, Jerica Fang, and members of the Division Judging Committee to judge all contests within the division level such as “Advisor of the Year” and “Most Improved Club”. In terms of the division board, my responsibilities are shared with other board members.
From participating in fundraisers and DCMs to giving presentations at conferences and planning DCMs, I take part in it all! To me, Key Club is a gigantic network of so many different opportunities.Although I joined Key Club pretty late into my junior year, Key Club has honestly opened so many unimaginable doors that I honestly wouldn’t even have known about if I had not joined this club. Attending, participating, and contributing to so many different events and conferences allowed me to not only develop better leadership skills but also to form connections with other people who are as passionate about just wanting to be a good leader and making this world a better place as I am. Joining this club was honestly one of my best decisions ever, and If I learned anything during my time in Key Club, it is that it is never too late to do anything as long as you give it your all!

WILSON EVENTS In the month of October, Wilson key clubbers participated in atlas go! It is pretty similar to charity miles, but instead we run to plant trees! Every mile we ran, they will plant about 0.40 trees. In total, our club was able to plant a total 50 trees by running 163.85 miles in a month! This service is a great way to keep our members active and safe while helping out the planet! Another service event that we did was Bean Bean Bean! It’s a website where key clubbers (or anyone) can answer trivia questions and raise “beans.” Depending on the amount of beans collected, they will donate to charity and help out the less fortunate. A great way to keep our members entertained while helping out their community!

SAN GARIEL EVENTS During the month of October, San Gabriel Key Club promoted the Pause For service event. In these rapidly changing times, we thought that being able to destress and focus our attention away from our phones was important. Whether it be used for homework, studying, relaxing, or for other tasks, members turned off their phones from a range of 10 to 60 minutes and concentrated on planting trees. Each tree, equal to about a total of XXX minutes paused, was worth 1 service hour for a maximum of 4 hours. Each successful pause earns the members digital currency to buy boosts. Also, there is a once .

once-per-day “bet” that doubles the amount of currency— if the pause is successful. Longer pauses mean more currency. Being able to impact the environment around the world and help the nonprofit organization associated with this cause was definitely a good feeling!

MARK KEPPEL EVENTS During the month of October, Mark Keppel Key Club members came together on our club discord to create infographics about PTP. This event paved the way towards spreading more awareness on the cause and to let others know what our PTP mission was. We wanted to provide proper training and education to pediatric trauma and injury prevention to our followers on our club social media. Throughout the month, 5 one hour sessions were held and members got to make their infographics together virtually. At the end of the service, more than 40 PTP infographics were created and many were posted on our club instagram.

The infographics included information on how many families are affected by pediatric trauma in the United States each year and how members can donate to help the cause. In the end, our PTP infographics helped to gain more attention and understanding on a program that Key Club sincerely values.

GABRIELINO EVENTS During this spooky month, a new turtle joined the nest! On October 22, Gabrielino Key Club announced that applications were open for their freshman officer position. Applications were open to all freshmans regardless of their experience with Key Club. The freshmen representative position offered incoming students to gain experience in leadership and service. The representative spread the word about Key club throughout all grade levels and garner interest from their fellow uninitiated, underclassmen. Applicants submitted a form before moving onto interviews through zoom. After much difficult deliberation, officers welcomed Deanna Astrada onto .

their home board on October 31, just in time for Halloween. She exhibited the spirit, the diligence, and the enthusiasm of a model key clubber, as well as the humility. As she eloquently stated, “We don’t come into Key Club perfect[...] and that’s okay.” We couldn’t be more proud of the dedicated and passionate community we’ve cultivated at Gabrielino.

ALHAMBRA EVENTS On October 24th, our club officers and members attended Harry Potter RTC. At the event, we learned so much about what KEY Club has to offer. From workshops about scholarships to conversations about how to deal with losing, we all learned so much. Despite it being a regional event with over 500 participants, many of our members had a great time bonding with other key clubbers across the region.

The Alhambra Key Club had a clothing drive on October 25th, 2020. Not only was this an opportunity for our members to earn their service hours, but a great way to help those in need! All the donations received were donated to the salvation army. As part of the division’s October service, our club participated in the Charity Miles Challenge. Our club completed over 800 miles, all of which turned into charity! Who knew walking and staying fit could turn into money that would be donated to help advocate for the protection of children’s rights as well as expand their opportunities so they can reach their full potential.
