Rubbish bin horror in kids’ park

he body of an unknown woman was found in Joe Slovo Park, Milnerton on Monday, October 12. She had been murdered squashed into a rubbish bin, which was then left in a park where children play. The body of the woman, believed to be in her early 30s, was in two blankets and a carpet. The bin had burst open when it was thrown into the field next to Marconi Beam Primary School. The woman’s head, with her cut neck, popped out of the bin. Her facial skin had been peeled

off and her teeth were sticking out! Horrified children stood behind the school fence and stared at the body. None of the residents who gathered knew the woman or had any idea why she had been murdered. “We feel unsafe. We have kids who play in this park and we are shocked by this discovery,” said Chuma Mbilini (31), a mother of two young children. Another resident, Phumeza Ngqondela, said crime was on the rise in the area. “Thugs jump over our fences to steal

Dunoon man burnt to death in a shack fire that razed four shacks living up to a dozen residents displaced and destitute in Dunoon’s Siyahlala squatter camp. The fire started just before 9pm on Saturday, October 17. At the scene on Sunday morning October 18, among the charred debris was school text books. The family of the deceased man Mlamli Ncipha,32, had gathered in a near by shack still in shock and disbelief over the sudden death of Ncipha. Ncipha’s cousin Siyamthanda Tsomo,30, was visibly in tears.

“We are still in shock. We cant believe its him. After the fire was extinguished we were not sure if he was in the shack but someone said there is a body of Ncipha,” said Tsomo. She said her cousin had returned home on Saturday at about 8pm and just when he went into his shack a neighbour saw smoke coming out of Ncipha shack at which point they kicked the shack door open. But, she said, it was too late, efforts to extinguish the blaze were fruitless as it spread so readily in the shack killing Ncipha immediately. In the meantime other residents demolished adjoining shacks to

prevent the inferno from spreading further. She said water pressure in the squatter camp was very low sometimes water doesn’t come out, residents had to go to RDP houses situated on the periphery of squatter camp to beg water to douse the flames. “Its very sad,” she said. Another cousin Nontombeko Janda said they did not know what started the fire but it started in Ncipha’s shack even though he didn’t not have cooking utensil, he never cooked and was unemployed.

“We appeal to well wishers to help us with anything so we can burry Ncipha in the rural Eastern Cape in Nqamakwe,” said Janda. The City’s Fire and Rescue Services spokesman Theo Layne confirmed the fire incident saying up to a dozen people had been displaced and left destitute by the blaze that killed one person. “There was no other injuries. Cause of the fire is undetermined. The incident was handed over to the police for investigation,” said Layne.

On Wednesday September 30, a team of six abelungu from Mighty Men Western Cape and Ottochem visited Christine with a donation of 60 litres of hair and body shampoo. Mighty Men is a non-profit, nominational movement, while Ottochem manufactures detergents. “Christine could have lived in a luxurious life but she dumped it and took a step to serve the poor and

the needy. That touched my heart,” said the movement’s James McGowan. He said white always say you can’t go into the townships. “There’s a lot of stigma around here.” The factory’s managers, Reinhard and Etienne Otto said Christine’s selflessness inspired them. “For us it is blessing to be Dunoon. It’s a privilege to be here to see the need of the community. We are giving back and starting closer to home.” Councillor Lubabalo Makeleni said residents have been blessed by Christine’s arrival. “We hope many good things will happen with her blessing.”

Truck rams into 10 parked cars! A food delivery truck veered off Blaauwberg Road and slammed into 10 stationery cars at the MyCiti Bus Park and ride facility in Table View on Friday October 2. On their way to work, many motorists leave their cars in the park in order to save money and avoid daily traffic jams. They use MyCiti buses to and from work. On Friday, October 2, the unlucky owners returned to a horrific sight. The accident was so bad that the truck uprooted a traffic light pole and a video security surveillance camera before hitting the parked cars.

Provincial police said the accident happened during the morning rush hour shortly after eight. Police spokesman Frederick van Wyk said: “This office can confirm that a retail truck drove into stationery vehicles at the Blaauwberg intersection of Wood and Study roads. “The incident occurred at approximately 8:15am. The truck driver was taken to a nearby hospital.” When Isolabantu arrived at the scene, car owners were in disbelief and lost for words. An incident report has been compiled and no one has been arrested,” added Van Wyk.

Cape Town Stadium to host Chiefs PSL matches

n a bid to bring Premier Soccer League (PSL) matches at the doorstep of Capetonians, the City of Cape Town mayoral committee recommended to council to approve the hosting of three Kaizer Chiefs PSL matches at Cape Town Stadium. The committee recommended this on Tuesday October 20. “Kaizer Chiefs is one step closer to playing in Cape Town,” said Garreth Bloor, a mayoral committee member for tourism, events and economic development. Bloor said the city council will

consider the mayoral committee recommendations to approve an agreement for Stadium Management South Africa (SMSA) to host three Kaizer Chiefs PSL matches at the stadium. He said the financial model mutually agreed upon reduces the financial risk to the city. “We are pleased to have reached agreement with SMSA on a financial model that will benefit both parties and we look forward to a positive outcome in the final approval process,” he said. To this end, he said the finan-

cial model agreed upon is as follows: · SMSA will pay a negotiated rental of R5 000 per match · SMSA will carry the cost for the stadium direct services such as cleaning costs, specialised IT&S services, electrical and security services, among others, that will be required within the stadium · The City will carry the cost for all City-related services such as law enforcement, traffic services and cleansing that will be required outside of the stadium · The appearance fee of R1,5 million per match, will be

split on a 50/50 basis between the City and SMSA. This will amount to R750 000 each, per match, to be paid by the City and SMSA · SMSA has guaranteed an amount of R300 000 from secondary income streams such as hospitality suites, beverage sales and concessions · After the stadium direct costs and the appearance fee paid by both parties has been recouped from the revenue, the balance of the revenue will be shared equally between the City and SMSA Bloor said this is a one-year

30-YEAR-OLD Cape Town man flew into a jealousy rage shooting his estranged wife and while freeing the crime scene shot his cousin in the leg! The incident happened in Dunoon on Sunday, October 4. Western Cape provincial police confirmed. “Circumstances surrounding an attempted murder case are being investigated after a shooting incident in Du Noon where two people were shot and wounded,” said Lieutenant Colonel Andrè Traut, a spokesman for the police in the Western Cape. TwoNeighbours who witnessed the incident but refused to be named for their safety, said the man after shooting his ex wife was seen running out of the RDP house wielding shot guns in both hands. When cops arrived at the scene he pointed one

gun into his mouth at which point cops and neighbours sought cover and the suspect fled past them. But then when he was freeing his cousin dived onto him tussling with him but it nearly cost his life as he was shot in the leg. It was then that cops bust the trigger happy jealous ex husband. “It was like a scene out of an action movie,” said the neighbours. Paramedics took the shot ex wife and cousin to the hospital to seek medical attention. The neighbours told Isolabantu that they heard the gun man accusing the ex wife of being a slut! Traut said an attempted murder docket is being investigated. “The suspect, a 30 year old man was arrested and is still in detention,” said Traut.
