Mena Freeman was born in Tyler, TX, number 8 of 10 children to a father who was a Methodist minister and a loving mother. She moved to Los Angeles immediately after graduating from John Tyler High School. Freeman went to college at California State University at Los Angeles where she studied American History and Humanities. She worked in the real estate business in Southern California for 15 years perfecting her professional skills. During this time, she managed a title company in Pasadena, CA. Freeman moved back to Dallas, TX to be closer to family and began a career in the financial planning industry at Edward Jones Investments. In 2005 she began working for Metlife/Dallas and after obtaining the honor of “Superstarter of the year in 2006, she was asked to move to Houston in 2007 to hire, teach and develop agents. Freeman managed a team of planners at Metlife Houston until 2012. One of her mentees became the Houston Chapter of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors new agent of the year. She has lived in Houston, Texas over five years now and is currently with a top insurance company. Her only daughter was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in September 2009. As a result, she is an active member of the Multiple Sclerosis Society Lone Star Chapter. She is also a member of the National Association of Business Women and was most recently honored by The Steed Society as one of the Top 25 Women of Houston, Texas. Recently Freeman aligned herself with The Guardian Wealth Design Group in the Galleria area as a financial planner and mentor. Freeman is frequently invited to speak with various groups and organizations regarding insurance, retirement planning and investments because of her vast years of experience and considerable success in the financial industry. Her passion is speaking to and helping women. As a divorced caretaker of an adult daughter with disabilities, she has firsthand knowledge of how important it is for women make themselves a priority. Her speaking platform promotes the necessity for women to take care of their finances, their family and their future.
