Marcus D. Wiley: To Be Enjoyed Ali Siddiq, Causing Laughter With Your Morning Cup of Coffee All Across the Nation

apturing the hearts of listeners across the country with his charismatic comedy, Marcus D. Wiley serves as the latest installment of Christian entertainment that cuts to the funny bone. His rapidly growing acclaim was bolstered after securing a coveted spot on the syndicated Yolanda Adam’s Morning Show as the co-host. Marcus has taken clean comedy to the upper echelon of entertainment.

Wooing the masses, Wiley’s widespread appeal is contemporary enough to entice the fashion-savvy and culturally conscious Generation Xs, Ys, and Zs, but traditional enough to melt the matriarchs as he recounts Mama’s mandates. Grammy award winner Yolanda Adams states he is a comedic genius. His delivery is smooth but yet made of steel. That’s because Marcus has a message to deliver along with making you laugh. The most exciting thing about attending Marcus’ stand-up show is, you are guaranteed to laugh and leave the show with a message on life: how to be a better you, how to better your relationship with not only God, but with the people around you, how to make a good life out of what you have and the importance of communication, just to name a few topics.

Marcus D. Wiley is a premiere entertainer whose class of comedy surpasses the status quo. Deeply rooted in old-time religion he offers a contemporary flair on Christian living. Wiley is best known for his masterful composure of music that moves your heart and truths that stir your soul with a signature style laced in laughter.

Wiley began his stand-up comedy career in September 2002. His clean comedy approach caught the attention of FourTime Grammy Award Winner Yolanda Adams and she offered him a spot as her co host on her highly acclaimed radio show, The Yolanda Adams Morning Show.

He can be heard week day mornings at 6 am in over fifty-two markets across the country. He received major notoriety for his standup comedy tours for his popular DVD series “Pretty Women Never Get Married, The Devil Ain’t The Only One Busy, When The Church Met The Club, How To Live Holy When You’re Horny, Comedy Is Sexy and Acting Married.

Wiley is a graduate of Texas Southern University (TSU) with a Bachelor Degree in Communication and Master Degree in Telecommunications. Along with traveling the world many days out the year doing stand-up and the Yolanda Adams Morning Show, he is a professor at his alma mater, TSU. Because Wiley displays the same captivating charisma on stage in the classroom, his classes tend to fill up immediately. He believes that every day you should laugh.

His goal is to someday make it to the ‘big screen,” but for now he is concentrating on creating a platform for his brand of comedy.

Contrary to popular belief his repertoire does not only encompass the Christian and gospel genre, but he performs “Clean ‘Edgy’ Comedy.” He wants “church folks to also come to the arena” to experience his brand of comedy. Wiley is currently on tour with the Radio One Family Comedy Tour, conducting the “Relax Your Pastor Tour,” and hosting comedy revivals across the nation as a part of his strategy to build his brand. This allows him to be exposed to parts of the country that have had limited exposure to style of comedy.

Eventually he plans on developing a mentoring program for young comedians to compliment his work as a professor at Texas State University. Prison ministry is another facet of his community outreach.

It was bought to his attention that few young black males visit the prisoners to share their gifts and talents and he decided to remedy that situation by sharing his comedic genius in the penitentiary.

When the Yolanda Adams Morning show left Houston, people were wondering what happened to Wiley. He states, “I’m still here and on the air. Life is good and I am still enjoying the ride.” When asked about his beloved Houston, he declared, “Houston is the greatest city in the world to live in. People here are not enamored by stars and they can live here freely. Growing up I had the best that Houston has to offer.

I had a wholesome upbringing. The only thing I don’t like is the heat. Outside it gets as hot as hell. Houston is a training ground for hell.”

Hilariously speaking, Wiley invited Bishop Secular to join us in the interview.

When asked what he thought about ABC’s Scandal and it’s major character “Olivia Pope,” the bishop had much to say. “The ladies love it, but they don’t want it to happen to them. Here we have a woman sleeping with a married man and it’s okay with women everywhere. When it comes back home, they hate it. Even on the soap operas, Victor Newman has slept with everybody on the show and even my mother and my wife still love him.

The line-up included Grammy award winner, Jill Scott and former Gap Band lead vocalist, Charlie Wilson.

Moreover, Ali has been seen on countless television shows and comedy specials including season two of Bill Bellamy’s - “Who’s Got Jokes?” He’s also been a guest on “Washington Watch” with host and CNN Analyst Roland Martin, both airing on TV One. Major television exposure first came to Ali on BET’s “Comic View” which has featured him on four consecutive seasons. He appeared as a finalist on NBC Universal “Stand Up for Diversity” and was featured on the 2008 season finale of HBO’s “Def Comedy Jam” and BET’s “One Mic Stand.” Ali has also added commercial actor to his many professional credits with his current involvement in the Midtown Bail Bonds radio ad campaign.

In addition to commanding attention on stages across the U.S., Ali is cosmopolitan and has taken his talent international. Ali’s comedic approach is undeniably captivating. After discovering his calling, Siddiq sought ways to showcase his new found talent. During this time, he caught the attention of the owner of Jus Joking Comedy Cafe’, in Houston, Texas. There he emerged as a weekly featured stand-up.

This opportunity allowed him to hone his craft, perfect his comedic storytelling skills, brand his name and catch the interest of some of the most talented comedians in the country. Through dedication, hard work and his relentless grind, Ali parlayed that opportunity to establish himself and climb the comedy ranks. He’s made great strides since those early days at Jus Joking. He has toured and worked with some of comedy’s premier talent including: D.L. Hughley, Bill Bellamy, Cedric the Entertainer, Katt Williams, Eddie Griffin, J. Siddiq also finds time to give back to raise awareness to very important issues; with his participation in annual events such as “The Jive Turkey Comedy Jam.” The most recent Jive Turkey Jam collected canned goods for the North Texas Food Bank. He was also invited to be the keynote speaker for the 2012 Texas Southern University Freshman Orientation. During the 2012 election cycle he contributed his talent to the Texas League of Young Voters Educational Fund which produced the “Vote For Your DAYUM Self” comedy show.

Ali demonstrates a wide range of comedic ability which is evident through his own personal imprint on comedy. A style of delivery he brands as educational funny or informative humor. “At my show audiences are guaranteed to learn something as well as laugh,” explains Siddiq. Ali aspires to further develop his writing ability. He plans to become a part of the writer’s guild writing material for other comedians and for television. This writing process has him constantly working out new material and fresh ideas working diverse mainstream comedy rooms and venues. Siddiq received a writer’s credit on Showtime’s “Chocolate Sundaes” and Showtime presents: “Bill Bellamy: Crazy, Sexy, Dirty.” Ali has further explored writing through work on a personal project entitled “Affirmative Action.”

On the horizon, Ali hopes to continue to provoke laughter and thought while continuing pursuits for future consideration for casting and development opportunities.

BLAME – The Comic Harrison Guy,

lame The Comic has been in the comedy business since mid 2002. He likes to think of himself as the most known unknown. This comic’s name can be read in two ways: Blame the Comic or “Blame” (v.) the Comic, which is exactly what he wants you to do because you never really know where this comic is coming from.

A native Houstonian, Blame is not only a jokester, but a college graduate from the University of Houston (2006).

It took only eight years and $30,000 for him to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Communications Media Production

and a minor in English to discover that he wanted to be a comic. He experienced early success in his career with an appearance on B.E.T’s hit comedy competition show, “Coming to the Stage” (2004) and winning several national comedy competitions, including The Kings and Queens of Comedy competition (2004), Las Vegas Comedy Festival Regional winner for the college category where he performed at the Stardust Hotel.

Blame has also given back to his community by hosting the fashion and music benefit for “Keep a Child Alive Foundation.” He also was featured in a television commercial for the foundation along with Houston mayor Bill White and other notable Houstonians. Proceeds helped to provide food and medicine for African children suffering from HIV and AIDS. Those unfamiliar with this Houstonbased comic may ask: “Why should I book Blame for an event.” He will tell you that: “All I want to do is deliver that positive cry of the soul which is laughter, and have my audience escape reality for the moment as they laugh in total bliss and gut wrenching humor.”Although it might seem cliché, “Blame” wants you to live, laugh, love, and then laugh some more. And at the end of the night, if you’ve enjoyed the experience, you’re only left with one thing to do and that is…“Blame” the Comic.

Dave Lawson, Loving the Game of Comedy!

D

ave Lawson started comedy at the Hip Hop Comedy Stop in Houston, approximately 15 years ago, but was “just playing for the love of the game” until about seven years ago when he finally became serious with the art of comedy.

He has recently opened for “Dave Chappelle’s Block Party” tour and he regularly opens for Steve Harvey and “Nephew Tommy” during their brief stints from their radio show. He has also performed stand-up on BET’s “Comic View” and Bill Bellamy’s “Who’s Got Jokes?” Look for him soon, as one of the headliners for the FOUR MICs COMEDY TOUR, which features four of the best comedians in Texas.

He’s Mr. Dave Lawson, a product of the north side of Houston, TX. His comedy hero is the incomparable Richard Pryor.

The Maestro of Urban Souls

H

arrison has captivated audiences across the nation through his inspirational and unique works of passion and beauty. He is constantly cultivating his rare style and vision of the craft, which is sought after by other artists, directors, choreographers, dance companies and educational institutions. Harrison Guy a native of La Marque, TX, began his dance training at Ruth Elgin Studios in La Marque, TX and continued his studies at Prairie View A&M University under the artistic direction of Kenneth Epting and Paula Williams. He received full scholarships to study at Energy Source Dance in Murfreesboro, TN and Houston Metropolitan Dance Center.

He then studied dance at Sam Houston State University. He has had the privilege of working with a host of teachers and choreographers; among them are Troy Powell, Kirby Reed, Melanie Pearson, Milton Myers, Earl Mosely, Tracy Inman, Toni Pierce, Chuck Davis, Kevin-Iega Jeff, Bill Evans, Matthew Rushing, Nathan Trice, Gary Abbot, and Cornelius Carter.

Harrison has performed with Classic Dance Ensemble in a variety of lead roles at Prairie View A & M University.

He has also worked with Dallas Black Dance Company (Dallas); ODC Dance Company (San Francisco) Deeply Rooted Dance Theater (Chicago) Mr. Guy has also served at Prairie View as an Artist in Residence and an Adjunct Professor. He has also performed with Dorrell Martin’s Dance Fusion, The Ailey School’s Summer Sizzler, and is a founding member of Exclamation Dance Company where he danced for five years.

In 2004 he debuted the Urban Souls Dance Company at the city wide dance festival. Since the inaugural performance

he has lead Urban Souls to win the dance Houston award, and best artistic achievement honors in both 2005 and 2006. In 2008 Dance Houston presented USDC with two awards; Best Choreography and The Audience Pick Award. Urban Souls was also awarded best choreography at the Houston Black Dance Festival in 2008. April is Jazz Appreciation Month!

I

n 1988 Congress declared jazz a national treasure and out of that declaration came Jazz Appreciation Month (JAM), a program originated by renowned Producer Quincy Jones and the Smithsonian Institute to create a nationwide celebration of jazz in April of every year.

You may ask, what is Jazz Appreciation Month or JAM? The concept is simple; designate a month for an annual and national public spotlight on Jazz. JAM is intended to draw public attention to the glories of Jazz as both an historical and living treasure. The idea is to encourage musicians, concert halls, schools, museums, libraries, and public broadcasters to offer special programs on jazz. Throughout the country you will find musical performances, historical jazz stories, and rare films. This April people around the world can learn how jazz has transformed America and has been a global inspiration.

The Smithsonian’s focus for 2013 is the Spirit and Rhythms of Jazz; captured

in beats that have traveled through the African Diaspora and a spirit of freedom that has impassioned slave and free born, immigrant and migrant since America’s founding.

JAM is intended to stimulate the current jazz scene on local levels and encourage people of all ages to participate in jazz--to study the music, attend concerts, read books about jazz, listen to jazz radio and recordings, and to support jazz wherever you can find it! Here in Houston, the long running “MONDAY NIGHT JAZZ JAM” was started in part by Lionel Hampton in 1950 along with bassist Johnny Williams and his wife Vi Williams who is still alive and recently celebrated her 90th birthday. Monday night was traditionally the night barbers, beauticians, and musicians were off and could enjoy themselves without having to work the next day. It became a tradition here in Houston to strut your musical skills At “MONDAY NIGHT JAZZ JAM.” Today T.R. Reed continues to carry the torch of “MONDAY NIGHT JAZZ JAM” in memory of his wife Carol Sanders, a well know jazz vocalist. T.R. Reed in his tireless effort to keep the Houston Jazz scene alive received the prestigious honor from the Smithsonian Institute through the Museum of American History recognizing Houston’s “MONDAY NIGHT JAZZ

JAM” as one of the official jazz events that occurs around the country!

The venue for this entertainment platform is none other than Phil n’ Dereks, an African American owned jazz spot located in Houston’s prestigious River Oaks. Every Monday night the quaint Creole cottage is transformed into a jazz listening room. The weekly house jazz ensemble is comprised of some of the most sought after jazz musicians in Houston and worldwide! Nelson Mills, Robert Sanders, Milton Comeaux, Carl Lott III, and Dr. Lex Vault, together they form the bebop band called “Straight No Chaser.” This band hosts musicians and vocalist that come from all over the world just to get a chance to sit in and jam with the band.

Hanging above the heads of the band is a 10 foot screen that runs vintage black and white film footage of history’s most famous black musicians like a young Sammy Davis Jr. as a tap dancer, Lena Horne and Billie Holiday to name a few.

Lionel Hampton’s Smithsonian story has an unmistakable vibe. His image on the 2013 JAM poster is created from artwork by Frederick J. Brown, who also happens to share the same birth date with Houston’s T.R. Reed. The artwork is on permanent display at the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery.

On April 30, Jazz appreciation month will conclude when jazz pianist Herbie Hancock (UNESCO’s Goodwill Cultural Ambassador) launches International Jazz Day. “On International Jazz Day, jazz is celebrated, studied, and performed around the world for 24 hours straight.

The evening will conclude with a concert in the Republic of Turkey at Istanbul’s famed Hagia Irene. FORT BEND COUNTY LINKS: SIXTEEN YEARS OF SISTERHOOD AND SERVICE The Fort Bend County Chapter of the Links, Incorporated has a strong and rich record of service in Fort Bend and surrounding areas. The group first organized as Southwestern Ladies of Equipoise; they were officially chartered as the Fort Bend County Chapter of the Links, Incorporated on March 2, 1996. From the inception of the chapter, members have worked tirelessly, through hundreds of programs and initiatives, to improve lives and communities.

IN OUR COMMUNITY The Chapter’s first outreach initiative was a service program for students at Powell Point Elementary School in Kendleton, Texas. This program was done to improve the lives of students in their respective community under the Chapter’s past program theme: WHISPER (Women Helping Impact Lives through Sustained Projects, Ethically and Responsibly through Sustained Service).

In 2004, the Chapter was selected

by Habitat for Humanity as one of 12 women’s organizations nationally to

partner with Lowe’s for the first “Women Build” in Fort Bend County. This effort culminated in over 2000 volunteer hours from participants and the completion of a well-constructed, affordable home for Christine Jones and her three children in Richmond, Texas.

The Chapter sponsored Project ERNEST (Early Right Nutrition Everyday Staying Tight): Linking for a Healthy Start, a partnership with HEB that addressed the prevention of hypertension, high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, and cancer in the African American community.

The goal was to elevate the importance of healthier eating habits and exercise in order to lengthen and improve the quality of individual lives.

The Chapter and local partners sponsored health fairs, including a wide range of screenings and immunizations; hosted a weekly Walk in the Park; distributed educational materials that addressed prostate and breast cancer, heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, and sickle cell disease; and participated in the UNCF Walk-a-thon in support of this program.

The Linkages to Life: Organ Tissue and Bone Marrow Donation Awareness Program-- a partnership between The Links, Incorporated and Roche– encouraged African Americans to become organ donors. The Fort Bend Chapter made annual presentations at a local church to highlight the critical need and to provide educational information.

The Chapters’ commitment to youth was evident at Fort Bend’s Edgar Glover Elementary School. The Chapter

implemented Project Walking Feet: Make Health a Habit, which taught children the importance of exercise and included a poster art competition where students depicted healthy living. In addition to annually providing school supplies and uniform donations, the Chapter also sponsored a visit to the school by a nationally acclaimed author/illustrator, Pat Cummins. Moreover, the group hosted its inaugural Oratorical Contest for elementary and middle school students in Fort Bend Independent School District schools.

Students benefited as a result of their mentorship of a female community service organization at Thurgood Marshall High School. The Chapter hosted a retreat for the young ladies focusing on “life choices” and community volunteerism as a means toward building positive self-esteem. The students then implemented strategies learned during the retreat by taking a proactive role in coordinating activities for the observance of the fiftieth anniversary of Brown vs. Board of Education, and the school’s first “Mix It Up Day”-- a national event promoting diversity and tolerance.

Advocating cultural arts is also a priority of the organization. For years, the Chapter provided financial assistance to The Inner City Nutcracker— a production that allows children with little or no dance experience to audition for minor roles in the performance. The Chapter provided tickets as reward incentives for students to attend the performance through its elementary school partnerships. The

The Links has demonstrated caring and commitment during times of crisis. The Chapter provided support to families displaced by Hurricane Katrina by donating funds and much needed household and personal items.

The Links worked to strengthen linkages globally, particularly on the African continent, by sponsoring international outreach initiatives. In the past, chapters nationwide contributed financially towards the building of water wells and the making of quilts for the children of AIDS victims in Africa. The World Health Organization aligned with The Links for the Safe Motherhood Initiative. As active participants in the campaign, the Fort

Bend Chapter purchased “Mama Kits” to support sterile baby deliveries for mothers and combat the problem of neonatal mortality.

The Chapter participated in the School-In-A-Box program. Through the contributions of local Links chapters and friends, books and educational supplies were sent to the Caribbean and Africa.

The Chapters’ linkage to the communities continues through partnership programs such as: EA Jones and Missouri City Middle Schools – mentoring, book donations; Missouri City Middle School – donations for school supplies and uniforms, Childhood Obesity Grant recipient, Zumba, Poster Art Contest; Community Voter Registration; Dress for Success; and Career Day at local schools.

Commuters Come Together

For Food, Fun, and Music during “Fresh Air Friday” in Downtown Houston Provided by MWH Public Relations

early 2,000 downtown workers and visitors stepped out of their office buildings as well as the tunnels beneath the streets. They took part in this year’s Fresh Air Friday event from the HoustonGalveston Area Council.

The event’s participants had the opportunity to sample the menus of Frenchy’s Chicken, Birraporetti’s, Dessert Gallery, Which Wich, and other restaurants, while listening to the sounds of the live band Zydeco Dots. Additional supporters included the Houston Dynamo, Sugar Land Skeeters, and Houston’s MIX 96-5. It all took place at Jones Plaza on Friday, March 22nd.

Fresh Air Friday is part of the HoustonGalveston Area Council’s Clean Air Action Program, which promotes awareness of ground-level ozone pollution, ozone watches and ozone warnings in the eightcounty non-attainment region.

Clean Air Action encourages pollutionreduction strategies such as riding sharing, using mass transit, alternative forms of transportation and proper vehicle maintenance, since cars and trucks are major sources of ozone pollution in our region.

Event contributors shared many of their personal solutions during their visit. In addition to providing relief from Houston’s

traffic congestion issues, commuters noted that their solutions help to cut down on gas emissions. Walkers and pedestrians brought up the added benefits of exercise along with breathing cleaner air. Clinic staff from Kelsey-Seybold was on hand to provide free health screenings of blood pressure, body fat, and other factors affected by travel.

The Houston-Galveston Area Council, or H-GAC holds Fresh Air Friday every year, and its organizers were pleased with this year’s success. They credit the warm sunny weather as well as the hard work of their staff and sponsors with the favorable turn out. H-GAC has many suggestions for commuters interested in learning habits for cutting their travel time while improving their overall health. n March 23, 2013, The Board of Directors as well as Founder, President and CEO of My Legacy Foundation, Inc., Ms. Crystal L. Perkins held a community introduction to the organization at the SHAPE Community Center in the 3rd Ward district of Houston. This year, My Legacy Foundation partnered with Yellowstone Academy.

Yellowstone Academy serves children from families living in extreme poverty with a program designed to provide the resources they need to reach their full potential. With the help of local and national sponsors, My Legacy Foundation was able to offer fifteen (15) program scholarships to students attending the school. My Legacy Foundation, Inc. accepted 20 young girls for the 2013-2014 sessions! The foundation is a ten-month program created for girls ages 8-18.

In addition to the community introduction, My Legacy Foundation, Inc. and its founder were presented with recognition from the office of Mayor Annise D. Parker and the city of Houston for its tireless dedication to the young girls of our community. The foundation helps to improve their lives through education, self-motivation and empowerment. They received an official mayoral proclamation, declaring February 21, 2013 as My Legacy Foundation, Inc. Day! My Legacy Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization designed specifically to support young girls in Houston, TX and surrounding areas. The mission of My Legacy is to create positive change in the lives of young girls, helping them to overcome personal barriers to reach their full potential.

This mission is accomplished by offering motivational seminars and speeches, various workshops, high levels of arts exposure, empowerment coaching, and assisting the young ladies in becoming strong leaders and academically minded. program, where each participant is paired with a professional mentor to guide her through the program. The program is not only for young girls, as My Legacy Foundation also offers free STARR and TAKS test tutoring for both young girls and boys from 2nd – 12th grades. Tutoring is done individually and scheduled on an as needed basis.

My Legacy Foundation, Inc. was founded by Crystal L. Perkins in December, 2010. Ms. Perkins is a native of Baton Rouge, La, and relocated to the city of Houston in 2008. She is also a graduate of Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge. She has been an active volunteer for over 10 years, and has volunteered for numerous organizations such as Junior Achievement - Houston, Big BrothersBig Sisters Houston, Junior League of Louisiana, Brook Hollow Baptist Church Volunteer organization, Houston, TX, Project Medishare, Miami - Save Haiti, Volunteer - Washington, DC, and many more. Greater Houston Youth Track Club Wins Big at the National Indoor Championship

They traveled to Birmingham, met new friends from all of the United States, were able to visit the Civil Rights Museum and learn a little more about history, they had fun, and they demonstrated what I coach to them every day, The Art of Speed.”

GHTC is now getting prepared for the start of the Youth Summer Track season here in Houston. The season starts March 30th and ends the first week in August with the Summer Junior Olympics. Youth Summer Track is a sport that is enjoyed by over 10,000 kids nationwide. reater Houston Youth Track Club (GHTC), under the direction of Keith Stubblefield, represented the city of Houston in the Amateur Athletics Union (AAU), National Indoor Track meet on March 15-17th in Birmingham, Alabama. The athletes competed in every age division, from seven years on up to 18.

They brought back to Houston with them 32 medals from 1st place to 8th over all in many of the indoor competition events.

Along with the 32 medals, they also brought home 5 meet record holders, and 1 national record breaker.

Madison Woodfork, age 9, was the first of the meet record holders, earning the Gold medal, in the 1500 meter Race walk.

Her bigger brother Trevion Woodfork, age 13, earned the Gold in the 800 meter race. Bryson Stubblefield, age 11, raced to the finish, and received the Gold in the 55 meter sprint. Sean Smith, Khalil Hager, Cameron Chretien, and Santana Wilson, represented the 9 and 10 year old boys on the 4x400 meter relay, and placed first, also

securing the Gold and meet record.

Jalen Davis, age 8, not only did he earn the Gold in the 200 meter dash, but he also broke the National Record, with a time of 31.69 seconds. Davis also secured the Silver, placing 2nd in the 400 meters. When asked, how did he feel about being a record holder, Davis replied, “I love track, and I have been practicing hard, winning was the easy part.” Davis’ parents, Belinda and Galen, states, “We are Greater Houston proud of our new National Champion.” Davis has ran track for three years now, and has always been one of the youngest on the team, now he knows what it feels like to be a Gold medalist.

Our youngest athlete to compete, Tyson Stubblefield, age 7, placed 3rd in the 800m run. Donnie Smith, age 12, who is a veteran Race Walker, also placed 3rd in his division for the 1500m Race walk.

Kentrell Singleton, age 11, brought home the bronze medal in the 55m run. Sarah Roberson, proved to be a strong little 10 year old, finishing 2nd in the shot put.

Jeremy Miles, age 8, finished 5th overall in the 55meter run, Ziyon Roberson, age 8 finished 5th place in the Long Jump, and Quentin Roberson finished 7th place overall in the Long jump for the 11 year

to lose weight or stay in shape. There is also the Adult Running Club; these members participate in community awareness events, marathons, and master competitions. GHTC has partnered up with, First Lady Michelle Obama, in her “Let’s Move” campaign, encouraging communities to get active. Stubblefield believes that with these 3 core programs, Track and field competition, @my pace, and the Adult Running Club, the entire family can get involved. GHTC has 4 local training locations in Cypress/Katy, Atascocita/Humble, Alief, and Southwest Houston.

GHTC is a non-profit agency, and encourage any donations or charitable gifts.

Stubblefield states, “the biggest challenge we have had as the Director of this club, is finding a way to financially cover all kids who would like to run and participate, but whose families do not have the extra funds to afford the cost of membership, travel, and much needed supplies or equipment.”
