ACTS OF SERVICE THROUGH THE ALUMNI COUNCIL

Under the leadership of President John Houde MED’92, the Alumni Council has spent the past 18 months refreshing the structure of the council through the renewal of its bylaws, building out affinity programming with student affinity group leaders, and forging a path to enhance meaningful connections between alumni and students. Through this work, we’ve redeveloped the following Alumni Council committees:

Alumni Affinity Group—serves as the council’s leaders to each of the identified active affinity groups. They encourage and develop programming that engages all alumni and students and ensures the Alumni Council represents and provides value for all constituents.

Leadership Annual Giving—strives to actively increase participation of alumni in annual giving, and leadership giving program the Health Leaders Circle.

Student and Alumni Engagement—helps facilitate opportunities for direct interaction between students and alumni, to provide advising, networking, and mentoring to individual students or to student groups and organizations. Alumni Recognition—leads the Alumni Awards Program to recognize and honor former classmates, peers, and other worthy alumni.

We’ve also developed a Student

and Alumni Engagement Chair

in the Geisel student government. Michael Hoggard ’22 has spent the past year working closely with the Alumni Engagement team and student government leadership to help organize and curate programming across several of the committees. Initiatives include Heritage Month programming, specialty mixers for students, residents, and alumni, and ensuring the alumni office is responding to and supporting the variety of needs the student government identifies. Through these acts of service and mentorship, alumni continue to engage and support the medical school and the next generation of healthcare leaders. Alumni engagement and volunteers are critical to the Geisel and DartmouthHitchcock communities.
