3.2. At the weekend

Saturday is my favourite day. I am very busy during the week and I do not have much free time, so when the weekend comes I really like to relax and have a good time. In the morning I usually have to help my mother with the housework. I clean my room, water the flowers and then go shopping. When everything is ready, I can let loose and enjoy myself. I always do my homework on Friday so as to have more time to spare at the weekend.

On Saturday evening I usually visit my friends or invite them to my place. We sit over a cup of tea with some delicious cake and listen to music, carry on long discussions and sometimes dance. Once a month I go with my friends to the cinema, to the theatre or to a concert. I like having an evening out on Saturday. When I come back home, I usually watch television, do crossword puzzles or read magazines.

Sunday is a time for all the family. In the morning we go somewhere out of the city to get some fresh air. In the afternoon we often visit our grandparents and have a nice meal together. When the weather is good, we sit in the garden and have a barbecue. Then I take my dog for a walk or go jogging.

Sunday evening is quiet. It is time to get ready for Monday. I read a book or watch television for a while and I go to bed quite early. It is a pity that the weekend goes by so quickly.

3.3. A visit to the cinema Every week I go with my friends to the movies. We usually attend the film show at 5 o’clock in the afternoon. To be sure that we get tickets, we book seats in advance.

Then we meet in front of the cinema. Sometimes we quarrel about which film we should choose. Boys like interesting criminal films or thrillers while girls prefer romantic or psychological ones. However, when there is a comedy on, everyone is pleased.

We usually choose the films of well-known directors in which popular actors play.

In this way we may be sure that we do not waste our time. We also try to see the films which have been given awards. Unfortunately, there are also many mediocre or poor productions in the repertoire of our cinemas.

Recently I have watched a very interesting and moving film entitled „Forrest Gump”.

The film was the screening of a novel written by Winston Groom. The title role was played

by Tom Hanks, one of the best actors of our times who has won an Oscar for his acting.
