The Gelato Collection is made by the rug artisans in a small village outside Varanasi in India called Daniyalpur. Rug weaving is often the bloodline to the small communities and still is considered a cottage industry in many parts of India and Nepal. But what drew us to Daniyalpur is the pride and the integrity that is evident in every design in Gelato Collection.
The heart of Ma rugs has always been to build a bridge between this century’s old eastern tradition and Western fashion. By supporting the rug artisans in Daniyalpur, the Gelato Collection allows us to share the same pride and integrity in every rug exclusively hand crafted and introduced by Ma .

Ma Rugs is proud to work with some of the most skilled weaving artisans in the world who are passionate about their craft and take great pride in their work.
We travel the world to source the nest materials, dyes and yarn to create rugs that are truly works of art and a labor of love, from the selection of the raw materials to the nal knot. Our weaving artisans carefully hand-card and spin the yarn, and then knot it by hand, row by row. A process that takes days of patience and dedication, but it results in a rug that is incredibly soft, durable, and beautiful.
The designs of our rugs are often inspired by ancient cultures, enduring heritage and timeless traditions of both modern and indigenous weaving communities. That is where our weavers draw their creativity to express their feelings and emotions in the rugs they create. Each rug is a unique and one-of-a-kind piece of art.
