This project is based on my thesis work, «Habillé Habité» which explores the links and parallels between clothes and architecture, in order to improve each by getting inspired by the qualities of the other. The project comes with a theory and many experiments you can find following the link below.
The project is a student accommodation, housing the Erasmus student of LOCI Tournai architecture school. It questions the relation of the dwelling and the season, as well as the control of the occupant and explore the contrast between fixed and mobile part of architecture. It takes place on top of the school master workshops, taking advantage of the existing structure and access, in order to offer a new space, new function with a panoramic view on the city.

In this school accommodation, intimacy, resident’s control and diversity are explored through various systems, such as the layers of privacy, materialised by windows and two systems of curtains. A first curtain is a thick one that stay close to the centre of the accomodation, creating hided spaces, while the other curtain is a thinner, transparent one, going from inside out, creating different quality of spaces. The ‘Bedrooms’ are actually solid wooden box on wheels, ultimate space of intimacy and appropriation. The combinations of those systems offers the inhabitants the possibility to create, individually as well as collectively, to control and modify their living space according to their needs, to the season or even to their will. The result is an always changing home, the architecture like a clothe; as a medium between the human and the world that surround him.

Those models are experiments coming along with the theory of «Habillé Habité». It explores quality of clothes brought to architecture, regarding techniques, structures, concepts or materials.

This is a project I realised during my Erasmus in Newcastle University. The demand was to build a deposit for the Boijimans contemporary art museum. I questioned what a deposit could be and considered the city streets as the city’s story deposit. I then materialised the map of those streets in a thick wall, made of the extrusion off the pedestrian zones. This map was then folded to create a tower matching the surroundings landscape. The map forming the tower is scaled 1/75, and the tower measure 75 meters, becoming a sort of measurement tool of the city . The art pieces are stored in massive drawers, in the thickness of the tower’s wall. The drawers are randomly opened to offer a different experience on every visit. The project is all about offering different perceptions, of the city, the deposit and the art pieces.

This is an infant and elementary school, based in Lyon, France. Learning is a game of contrasts, explored trough the school’s architecture. Freedom/limits, Opening/protection, Softness/ strength. The school is built on a sloppy ground, therefore, the circulation is imagined like a waterflow, climbing on itself to offer the kid the possibility to access every spaces without climbing stairs. The building is curvy like the image of a mother. It’s also a frontier, protecting from the public spaces, while opening on the view.

Community housing for five families. In the Willemau village, the dwelling is the extension of an old abandoned farm. The new part of the building is the projection of the geometry of the existing one. It keeps its distance, creating a long light shaft and avoid over righting the old farm. The ground floor holds the common part, and the higher it gets in the building, the more private it becomes.
