MESSAGE FROM THE GENERAL MANAGER Dear Cypress Woods Members, As a reminder, voting for the Master Board will close at 4pm on Thursday March 23rd. Members are welcome to watch the vote count which will take place in the Dining Room at 10am Friday March 24th . Voting for the Amenities Masterplan closes at 10am on Monday March 27th. By now, you should have received your paper ballots through the mail, or an email from Beckerballot if you are voting online. If you are voting online and have not received your voting packet, please check your spam/junk folder before reaching out to the Administration staff for assistance. If you did not receive your ballot or have any questions about the voting process, please reach out to the administration staff and we will assist you. The incoming Master Board will appoint new committees in April. If you would like to serve on a committee, please submit an application and your resume, along with the committee you would like to serve on, to the Administration Office by 4pm on Monday April 3rd. Applications are available on the club website or in the Administration Office. To be considered, members must be willing to attend all committee meetings throughout the year either in person or online. First Assistant Golf Professional Connor Baldwin will be leaving Cypress Woods in March after five great years of service. Connor has accepted a position as Head Golf Professional at a private club in Georgia. He has been a valuable part of the Cypress Woods team during his tenure, and will be remembered for his hard work, great golf lessons, and of course his sharp wit! We wish Connor and his wife Kelly the very best as they embark on a new adventure together in Georgia. See you at the Club soon.

Dear Members, I hope everyone is having a great season and enjoying your time here at the club! It has been a busy couple of months, filled with lots of tournaments and fun. March brings a busy tournament schedule. Here are some upcoming events to mark on your calendar not only to play in but also to be aware of when trying to schedule tee times. Championship week begins March 21st & 22nd where we have our Club Championship and Presidents Cups. This year we are introducing a new division for our men with the Super Senior division. This division will be played from the 4/5 combo tees with eligibility of 75 years of age and older. The Mixed Club Championship will be on March 26th, where we introduced a more successful and friendlier format! The format is 2 Better Ball of 2 stableford so if you happen to stumble on one hole, this won’t take you out of the tournament or even get you kicked out of your bed that night either!! Please come join us for these great events! If you have any questions, as always, please let myself or my staff know! We look forward to seeing everyone come out to play! Lastly, I would like to give a final thank you to our Lead Assistant Connor Baldwin for the great 6 seasons he has brought to our club. CYPRESS WOODS MAINTENANCE
Cypress Woods Membership, The golf course maintenance team is currently working on high-traffic, or compacted areas, spraying out pine straw beds. We are also fertilizing greens to get them prepared for the growing season. Once the greens have been fertilized, we will go to the tee boxes, fairways, and rough next. It is important to time these applications correctly as we will likely see a few more cold mornings, and we do not want to set it back. With Bermuda coming out of the transition period, we must be patient and ready. All turf areas look healthy as we focus on having a great year. Our equipment manager has been busy working on our tractors and mowing equipment in the shop. We use this time of year to service all our equipment and ensure we have quality functioning mowers going into the growing season. 2

The greens are coming out of the winter in good shape. Any weak spots will be addressed with topdressing and fertilizer as needed. We will start our yearly maintenance program to ensure the best playing surface possible for everyone. We are still working on completing winter projects this month, so please be patient if we are working in your way. Please remember to follow all cart path rulings to avoid excessive damage due to cart traffic. Finally, please remember to fix ball marks and divots. Sincerely,

DINING FROM FOOD & BEVERAGE Hello Cypress Woods Family, Marching into March! Kicking the month off with Tru Blu (Larry D and Juliette) Band for the Member Social on Thursday the 2nd. Tunes on the Terrace this month will feature Aura, Saturday the 4th and Lisa George, Saturday the 25th. A limited menu will be available for both Saturday evenings. Bingo will be held on Monday the 6th, and Trivia on Monday the 20th. Chef Gina will be creating a buffet for these games for dinner before they begin. For the Thursday Themed Dinners this month, we will have Carvers Night on the 9th, Pasta Night on the 16th, Lobster Fest on the 23rd, and don’t forget about St. Patrick’s Day on Friday the 17th! Come celebrate by enjoying an Irish inspired buffet with live entertainment by Alan Bradford, singing Irish and a variety of music. Please remember to reserve your Fresh Maine Lobster by Saturday March 18th. Get your floral shirts and dresses ready for a Luau on the Tennis Courts Saturday March 11th! Clubhouse Dress Code Proper attire is to be worn in accordance with the dress code for the particular areas of the Clubhouse. GRILLE ROOM & PATIO LUNCH/DINNER GENTLEMEN: Collared shirts, 1” mock collared golf shirts, slacks, Bermuda style shorts, and plain denim are acceptable. Men are required to remove their hats and tuck their golf shirts. Golf shoes are permitted. LADIES: Blouses or shirts, with or without sleeves. Bermuda length shorts, Capri pants, skirts, slacks, dresses, or plain denim. NO denim shorts, cargo shorts/pants exterior pockets on the legs, tank tops, tee shirts, tube tops, frayed or tattered clothing, bathing attire, or athletic wear. DINING ROOM LUNCH Same as Grille Room, but no denim or golf shoes permitted. DINING CHEF’S CORNER Sherry Maple Vinaigrette INGREDIENTS • 2.5 TBSP White Balsamic Vinegar • 1 TSP Apple Cider Vinegar • 1 TSP Honey • 1 TSP Dijon Mustard • 1.5 TBSP Sherry Wine • 1 Each Egg Yolks • 1.25 Cups Canola Oil • 1 Pinch Kosher Salt • 1 TSP Chopped Fresh Garlic • ½ TBSP Chopped Cilantro or Parsley • ½ Cup Maple Syrup
DIRECTIONS 1.
In 8qt Cambro place all ingredients except oil and maple syrup.
2. Using large stick blender. Blend ingredients. 3. While blending slowly add oil then maple syrup. 4. Ready for use, be sure to cover label and date product.
CHEF’S FUN FACT Cypress Woods only uses 100% real Maple Syrup! The American maple-syrup industry can be traced back to the 17th century, when farmers began to tap the trees on their properties for a sweetener that was, at the time, cheaper than sugar. All the world’s maple syrup production only comes from North America with about 80% from Canada, the season typically runs from late winter through early spring. Sap usually starts to run after the trees thaw and temperature is around 40 degrees. It takes about 40 gallons of sap to make one gallon of maple syrup because sap is about 98% water. The actual maple syrup industry has grown some 10% in each of the past four years, with market conditions and demand, I am currently paying $93 a gallon.

FINANCIAL FOCUS FROM THE CONTROLLER We hope all our members are having a wonderful season thus far. We know our staff is working hard to make every experience a great experience. And that’s the key, great personnel leads to a great member experience. In the Human Resources department our focus is on recruiting and retaining the best candidates for the job, but in today’s labor market, this is easier said than done. So how does Cypress Woods maintain such incredible staff year round? It all starts at the top. Our management team is one of a kind, and the staff remind us of that every day. Most of the department heads have been with the club longer than five years, some as many as 18. With the club’s mission statement and vision ingrained in the managements approach, our team is able to stay effective and efficient year in and year out. This type of continuity does not stop with management. 38 staff members have been with the club for more than 5 years, 15 employees more than ten years, and we even have 8 people that have been here more than 15 years. While this is certainly indicative of how wonderful our members are, we can also look to the benefits we offer as a contributor to such retention. Full time staff are offered an excellent package, which includes healthcare (with minimal employee premium contributions), dental, vision, and even life insurance. We have also implemented a new social media platform for this season for all staff members. This provides a place for team members to acknowledge each other or give monetary incentives to one another (at no cost to the employee) It is also a great tool for management to praise staff publicly, and hand out larger bonuses when deserved. The employee can then redeem their points for anything from visa gift cards to amazon or restaurant gift certificates. The club’s benefits help to solidify Cypress Woods as one of the best clubs to work for in SW FL. Thank you,

Jaquelino Trejo – Building Maintenance Technician Jaquelino joined us in October of 2022 just after Hurricane Ian. He helped us recover from the hurricane and continues to maintain and enhance our facilities daily. Jaquelino has worked in maintenance for over 16 years with a background in carpentry and says he loves his job. He enjoys trying new restaurants throughout the SWFL area and has been playing soccer in Naples for over 10 years. Jaquelino is most thankful for his family and the time he is able to spend with them. We are happy to have him here with us!

Pickleball – Activity at the pickleball courts is at a high level with all 12 courts in use on a regular basis for the am round robin and beginner programs. Weekday attendance is 60-70 players. There is plenty of open court time in the afternoon and evening for players who want to play in an unstructured environment. Inter-Club pickleball play continues. Check the Courtside Bulletin Board to see when CW Teams play and stop by the courts and watch our Cypress Woods Teams in action. Match results are also posted on the bulletin board. CW teams are put together each week by Team Captains from available players 50+ years of age at the 3.0 and 3.5 play level. Team Captains are Beth Uphoff for Mixed 3.5, Steve Parenteau for Men’s 3.0, Patti Price for Women’s 3.0, Sandy Coots for the Women’s 3.5 and Patti Price and Monte Mohler for the mixed 3.0 Team. Round robin play is scheduled for Mon - Fri, 8:30 – 12:00 am and Wednesday Eve 5:30 – 8:00 pm. Players at all skill levels are invited to play round robin. Match play will be arranged for all levels. The two southwest courts are available for open play Tues – Thurs 8:30 – 10:30 on a first come first serve basis unless these courts are needed for a round robin group of more than 36 players. Players using these “open” courts are not obligated to participate in round robin play. Instruction for beginner pickleball players is provided at no charge on Mondays beginning at 9 am. If you plan to attend an instruction session, send an email to Barb Wendt <barbjwendt@gmail.com>. Beginners – Many of you who have received beginner instruction have expressed reluctance to participate in regular round robin play. To address this concern, temporary courts have been set up on the tennis courts for beginner play. Just show up on the temporary courts for play at the beginner level. Players on these courts will receive instruction and coaching by an advanced player. Members are reminded that balls are available in the pickleball chest at the courts for play at anytime there is no Club event scheduled. A key for the chest can be obtained at the Pro Shop. Paddles are also available at the Pro Shop for those wanting to play but do not have paddles. You will need your Membership card to get the paddles and/or key. Bocce – The Sunday Mixer at 4:00 pm is underway. This event is for all levels of play. Show up and play. Toby Johnson or his designee will be host and coordinator. Let Toby know if you would like other events scheduled <tobyjohnson@yahoo.com>. Bocce sets are available for play at any time when there is no Club event. Equipment is in the chest at the Courts. A key to the chest is available at the Pro Shop. Tennis – The west tennis court is available for open play on a first come first serve basis. When playing on an open court please limit play time to 2 hours. Members with interest in a ladder list send your name and play level to Jim Helle < hellejim@gmail.com>. General – Rules and etiquette are posted at the courts - Please read and comply. Guest players must be registered to play tennis or pickleball before playing. To register guests, the sponsor member shall send an email to <accounting@cypresswoodsgolf.com> stating member’s number, the date of play, number of the guests (max is 3) and whether for tennis or pickleball. A guest fee of $5 per guest will be charged to the Member’s account. Members are on an honor system to register guests. Guests must be accompanied by the sponsor member at the courts. Proper attire is required on the courts – i.e. shorts/skorts/skirts and shirts must be worn. A tennis shoe or court shoe is required. Court time can be reserved when there is no Club event scheduled. See the Courtside Bulletin Board for reservation instructions and scheduled events. Pool – Hours are 7 a.m. - Dusk daily. Poolside service is available from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. All purchases must be made with a Club member present. To ensure all users have an enjoyable experience at our pool complex, please note and follow all posted Pool, Club and Spa Rules. Fitness Center – Open 24 hours daily. Members and their guests will enjoy a better organized and more user-friendly layout. When a member of Cypress Woods passes away, a notice is added to the TV in the foyer. In order to protect the privacy of our members and their families, The Club only sends a club wide email with an obituary when the family of the deceased requests we do so.
Rental News
The Cypress Woods Golf & Country Club Master Association Clubhouse Administrative Office requires a completed Rental Application (all questions answered, all signatures required), a copy of the Lease Agreement between Owner and Tenant, and a $275.00 Application Fee submitted at least 30 days before lease start date, otherwise a $100.00 rush processing fee must be added to the $275.00 application fee for those turned in less than 30 days before start date. If opting for the Membership Transfer, please provide that form accompanied by a $300.00 Transfer Fee. Checks can be separate or combined and should be made payable to “Cypress Woods.” Please note that the Membership Transfer includes Golf, access to the Fitness Center, Clubhouse Pool & Spa, tennis and pickleball courts and a merchandise discount in the Pro Shop. Additionally, presenting your Member ID Card in The Grille Room &/or Dining Room helps the Owner toward the owner’s $600 annual Food Minimum. It is important to note that seasonal/part-time tenants DO NOT have member account charging privileges-they must use a credit card and pay as they go; however, they must present their membership card when paying so that the owner receives credit for the tenants’ food and soft beverage consumption. When the Owner allows a Membership Transfer, the owner relinquishes their rights to the amenities mentioned above. There is a 30 day / one (1) month minimum for rentals - shorter stays are not allowed. Annual full-time tenant Lease Renewals to the same property require no additional fees, but do require submission of a new Rental Application and updated copy of the Renewal Lease at least 30 days before expiration date. If time lapses, another $275.00 application fee will be required. Please review the House & Ground Rules available on our website or pick up a copy in the Clubhouse Administrative Office. Owners are asked to please keep a copy in their unit for their Tenants. It is important to note that our Bylaws dictate that Tenants are not allowed to have any type of pets. Vehicles require parking stickers or hang tags to avoid being ticketed and/or towed. If you have any questions, contact us in the Clubhouse Administrative Office at 239-593-3392 or email office@cypresswoodsgolf.com.*If you are posting your rental on VRBO or other rental sites, please clearly state a 30 day minimum rental period and No Pets.
Messages to Members
• Our Covenants require owners to notify the Administrative Office ten (10) days in advance if you are having visitors stay at your place in your absence. • If you are an owner that rents your unit out, please share important email blasts with your tenants. Since these emails come from the Cypress Woods website, which is for owners only, renters do not receive them. The only means of communicating with renters, is via the owner. Space is a commodity and is available for photos of Club members attending Club events, as well as Milestone Events (i.e. 50th Wedding Anniversary, 90th birthday...if you aren’t sure ask us). Submissions are due by the 10th of the month prior to the publication. Please email your items to office@cypresswoodsgolf.com (include names and captions with your photos).
