THE

MESSAGE FROM THE GENERAL MANAGER Dear Cypress Woods Members, Summer is in full swing as Member business slows down and maintenance projects begin. We have reviewed our hurricane preparedness plan and are busy implementing our action plans including, trimming of hedges and trees, storing items not used during the summer months, and training staff on pre and post hurricane procedures. Aerification begins in June so it will be a busy summer for Cisco and our maintenance staff. At the scheduled May Board Meeting, the Board approved the applicants for the Pickleball Sub Committee. This committee will be tasked with helping improve the pickleball experience for Cypress Woods Members and will report directly to the Rec Committee. They also approved making the tee box changes from last year permanent. June is the beginning of the budget process at Cypress Woods. Both the operational and reserve budget process require many months of work by staff and Members to complete. The management team prepare the first draft in June and present it to the Finance Committee in July. The Finance Committee then review the budget, going into great detail in each department, and make suggestions and modifications to ensure an accurate budget. The Finance Committee often requests several drafts of the budget before recommending their final budget to the Board at the Budget Workshop in September. The Board welcomes all Members to attend the Budget Workshop so they may be fully informed on how the budget was created, and also have the opportunity to ask questions of the Finance Committee. The Board then takes a month to review the budget before approving it at the October Board Meeting, in compliance with our governing documents. The Board and Communications Committee plan to send out a short Communications Survey later this summer. Questions will include demographics, facilities usage, and preferred communication methods. The survey will be emailed to all Members, but paper copies will be available for those who prefer to participate offline. We hope you take the time to participate as this data will help guide the Board when making future decisions for the club. While many Members have departed, we still have about 30% of our membership here enjoying the Club during the summer months. We have Wine Tastings, Wine Dinners, Member Socials, Cooking Classes, Trivia, Winning Wednesdays, and much more to keep the Members entertained and the staff busy. A big thank you to Pat Curcio who plays piano in the Grille Room on many Wednesday nights throughout the summer, making the Club the hottest ticket in town on Wednesdays! I wish you all a fun packed summer, See you at the Club soon!
