MESSAGE FROM THE GENERAL MANAGER Dear Cypress Woods Members, Thank you to the 646 Members who took the time to cast your votes on the Amenities Masterplan. The project was rejected by a margin of 437 to 208, which means there will be no expansion of amenities and no assessment. The Board will take some time to reflect on the vote over the coming months before determining the next course of action for the Club. Welcome new Board Members Heather Perras and Mary Romano, and congratulations to Phil Oreste, Linda Kantor, Don Simard, and Mike Latimer on their reelection. Don Simard has been elected President, Bev Ricketts as Vice President, Diane Tache will remain as Treasurer, and Mike Latimer was elected Secretary. Thank you to Armund Janto and Frankie Romano who both depart the Board after 6 years of service. Both men have served the Club well and we thank them for all the time and effort that have put in to the Club though their three terms. If you would like to serve on a committee, please fill out an application and drop it to the Administration Office by Friday April 7th. The Board will review all committee applications and appoint the committee members by mid-April. A full list of committees and their responsibilities may be found on the club website under Member Central. Finally, safe travels to those of you heading to your northern homes this month. It has been a tremendously busy season, and we hope you enjoyed your time in Naples this winter. To our year rounders, we look forward to a fun summer of early morning golf and less traffic! Hello Members! As we move into April, it’s hard to believe we are winding down another season here at the club. With many members packing up to head north for the summer, others look forward to reciprocal season and the chance to try out many of the private clubs in the area. Clubs will soon begin to make reciprocal agreements for the months of May through October. At the end of April, a list of the clubs we will be reciprocating with will be available online and in the Pro Shop. As reciprocal season begins, please remember that we are not only representing ourselves when golfing at other clubs, but we are also representing Cypress Woods, its staff, and all its members. With that understanding, we ask that you please be polite and courteous when playing other clubs as we are their guests for the day. With the end of season also comes the time to clear out your credit books before they expire. Credit books will be expired on May 22nd, so please come into the pro shop and use your credits. Remember, members always receive 20% off in the shop so come in and get those items that you have been eyeing! To help you spend those credits, we will be holding an end of season sale sometime this month, so watch for the sale announcement! We will be returning to our Summer shotguns, Thursday-Monday at 8:30 a.m. There will be straight tee times on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. With summer comes our yearly scheduled maintenance. Here are the dates the golf course will be closed for aerification. During these closures, the Pro Shop will be open from 7:00am to 12:00pm for your convenience. Please see below for the dates the course will be closed.

CYPRESS WOODS MAINTENANCE
Dear Members, April is here and so is the warmer weather! Greens are recovering from cold nights and humid days, and the Tees and Fairways are starting to prosper. We have been spraying multiple fertilizer applications on these areas and others that need it. This process will help get our Bermuda grass off to a great summer start. Once the Greens start to grow, we will begin vertical mowing to promote lateral growth and help with thatch layers. You may have noticed small holes punched in the greens if you have played recently, this practice helps with water movement/ management as well as thatch control. In the growing season, we will continue to do this periodically as needed, but the holes will cover in 2-3 days and will not affect the ball roll. This process is 2

I would like to thank everyone who participated in the Club Championships and Presidents Cups. We had a great turnout followed up by some great golf! A big congratulations to all our winners! This years overall Men’s Club Champion is Blair Swiler and our overall Ladies Club Champion is Eddy Doucette! Also, I would like to welcome our new Lead Assistant Golf Professional, Sam Tolleson, to Cypress Woods. Sam will be replacing Connor and is joining us from Streamsong. Hole in One by Carl Olla on Hole #5 required in order to provide the best putting surface possible. As for the rest of the course, Fairways are being mowed twice a week along with Tees and Approaches. The Rough is being cut once a week, and native areas are mowed as needed. This will be our summer mowing schedule unless a change is required. All Bermuda grass has had a heavy Spring application of fertilizer. Towards the middle of May, we will begin our Plant Growth Regulator (PGRs) applications. These applications will help keep the fairways and other areas full and dense without having too much growth and grass clippings everywhere. Please continue to repair ball marks and fill divots. ON THE GREENS FROM THE CWLNHGA April 2023 The Cypress Woods Ladies Nine Hole Golf Association welcomes women 9-hole golfers, where we can explore Friendships, Golf Education, and (sometimes) Lunch! We are 96 members strong and are a supportive group for anyone interested in a friendly, social atmosphere of golfing fun. In addition to weekly games, we are invited to Invitationals which has become a popular option for 9-Hole members to play at area golf courses, meet other like-minded women, and enjoy a fun format of Contests, Lunch, and Prizes. On May 2, we are inviting other Collier/Lee clubs to Cypress Woods for KISS, our summer version of an Invitational; however, it is pared down to a scramble—sort of an easy meet and greet for the summer season. KISS means Keep it Simple Summer. Lunch will be served in the dining room after golf. CWLNHGA April Highlights: April 4, Par 3 Tournament--All holes adjusted to Par 3’s; April 11, Green Bonus, Move your ball one club length closer on the green. No Scores Posted. Season Ends. Tuesday morning golf continues throughout the off season. Nonmembers may join us for non-league play after May 1st, to see how easy it is to fit in with us. Call the Pro Shop to schedule yourself to play with the 9-hole Ladies group this summer. You will just Love us! Consider joining our league in October 2023 when we resume League play.

CWLGA sponsored the annual Cancer Alliance of Naples (CAN) Tournament on February 21, 2023. The day included golf, luncheon, elaborate raffle, silent auction, and prizes. A total of $22,038 was donated to CAN as a result. CWLGA has been supporting CAN for over a decade, contributing well over $100,000 prior to the 2023 event. We would like to express our gratitude to all the Members, Hole sponsors and Realtors and local establishments who contributed so generously. We could not have done it without you! Hello Cypress Woods Family, As we wind down another successful season, we want to thank all the Members for their continued support at the clubhouse. April and May mark the transition of our “seasonal hours” of operation to the “off season” hours for Dining. April features the End of Season Party on Saturday April 1st and the Motown Girls will be the entertainment! This event will be very popular, and it will be held on the tennis courts. This event is members only, sorry no guests. April Member Social is Thursday the 6th and the entertainment is Omar Baker. Member Social for May will be on Wednesday, May the 3rd (Socials move for the summer months to the first Wednesdays of the month). Easter Sunday will fall on April 9th and don’t forget to make your reservations as it fills up very quickly. The last Bingo of the season is scheduled for April 3rd. Tuesday Baby Back Rib Night continues through the end of April and then starting in May the Club will be closed on Tuesday night. Rib Night will be Thursday night starting in May until the end of September. We will be offering another Carvers Night on Thursday April 20th and BBQ Night on Thursday April 13th. Starting in May, dinners will be offered Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday nights. Chef will feature weekly lunch specials throughout the summertime, so make sure to stop by after golfing to enjoy lunch and a drink! The Annual Derby Day Party is on Saturday May 6th. For all the mothers to celebrate their special day, chef will be putting out a delicious brunch spread on Sunday May 14th. Please see the “Dining Hours” that are attached and May calendar for all the schedule changes, no Tuesday, or Saturday Nights. Winning Wednesdays returns starting in May!! Woohoo! Get ready to win some prizes. Friday remains Fish Fry Night, and Sunday closes at 3:00. Just a reminder, our very popular Sunday Breakfast Buffet continues all year long. We recommend reservations as we do fill up. Other friendly reminders: No cell phones in any of the Dining areas, No dogs allowed in club areas, No smoking at the club or at the pool. DINING CHEF’S CORNER Cypress Amaretto French Toast Batter INGREDIENTS • 8 Cracked Eggs • ¼ cup Granulated Sugar • 1 cup Heavy Cream 36% • ½ Tbsp Cinnamon • ½ tsp Vanilla • 3 Tbsp Amaretto (Disaronno)
DIRECTIONS 1.
Add ingredients in medium mixing bowl.

French Toast a Brief History
You may assume that French toast was invented in France; however, the history of the popular breakfast dish is still up in the air. It is considered to originate during medieval times as a battering process frequently used to make stale loaves of bread more appetizing. It was popular in England during the Middle Ages and was called “suppe dorate”. In more modern times the French created a similar dish called “tostees dorees”. Then there’s the myth of an innkeeper in Albany, New York, named Joseph French. In 1724 he advertised the little Golden brown treats as “French Toast,” because he reportedly had not learned to use apostrophes. In France, the dish is called pain perdu, meaning “lost bread,” because the meal recycles stale or lost bread. The irony seems to be that its origins really are not truly known and even the Germans claim to have been the first to create recipes called “German Toast” and then the English During WWI changed it to “French Toast” to disrespect the Kaiser Leader.

FINANCIAL FOCUS FROM THE CONTROLLER
As a lot of you are beginning to head north for the summer, I would like to thank all the members for making this year the club's most active season to date. Please be safe in your travels, and I look forward to seeing you all return soon!! Each year Cypress Woods engages with a CPA firm that performs an in-depth audit of the club's financial statements in accordance with industry standards. In January the club sends the prior year’s financial statements to the firm, which reviews the information and prepares for their onsite visit in mid-February. In March our audit committee meets with the auditors who present their opinion on the financial statements. I'm happy to report that our 2022 financial statements were given a clean opinion with no material misstatements found. Not only do the auditors explain

Our Head Golf Professional, Chris Phillips, welcomes new Lead Assistant Golf Professional, Sam Tolleson! Hello Cypress Woods Members, I'm Sam Tolleson. I am an enthusiastic and passionate Golf Professional. I grew up in the Atlanta, Georgia area and spent the first 16 years of my life there until I moved to Nashville, Tennessee. I'm a proud graduate of Eastern Kentucky University, where I earned my B.B.A

This year’s report shows that food and beverage sales increased almost $400,000 from 2021; golf sales increased over $200,000 from 2021. Compared to Florida trends, Cypress Woods has been able to maintain much greater payroll ratios, freeing up operating cash to subsidize cost of goods sold in the food and beverage department, thus allowing us to maintain favorable menu pricing. Pickleball - Activity at the pickleball courts continues at a high level for the am round robin program. The average weekday attendance at the courts has been 50+ players. There is plenty of open court time in the afternoon and evening for players who want to play in an unstructured environment. Check the courtside bulletin The pickleball leagues raised $4,200 for Hurricane Ian board to see Club events, open court time Disaster Relief for the American Red Cross Foundation! and court time reservation instructions. Inter-Club pickleball play concluded 0n 3/16. Match results and finish place are posted on the Courtside Bulletin Board. Thank you Team Captains Beth Uphoff for Mixed 3.5, Gary Faguy and Steve Parenteau for Men’s 3.0, Sandy Coots for the Women’s 3.5, Patti Price for Women 3.0 and Monte Mohler and Patti Price for Mixed 3.0 for another great Season. Inter-Club competition will continue through the Spring, Summer and Fall Seasons. Players interested in competing at the 2.5 and 3.0 levels should contact Craig Sipich or Monte Mohler. Instruction for beginner pickleball players is provided at no charge on Mondays beginning at 9 am. If you plan to attend an instruction session, send an email to Barb Wendt <barbjwendt@gmail.com>. Beginners - Many of you who have received beginner instruction have expressed reluctance to participate in regular round robin play. To address this concern, temporary courts have been set up on the east tennis court for beginner play. Just show up on the temporary courts for play at the beginner level. Players on these courts will receive instruction and coaching by an advanced player. Paddles and balls are available for play at the Pro Shop. You will need to present your membership card to checkout these items. Bocce - The “end of Season” round robin tournament to determine the 2 person team champs will be conducted 4/2 beginning at 3:00 pm. To play, check in with Toby Johnson by 2:30 pm. The Sunday Mixer at 4:00 pm continues. This event is for all levels of play. Show up and play. Toby Johnson or his designee will be host and coordinator. Bocce sets are available for play at any time when there is no Club event. Equipment is in the chest at the Courts. A key to the chest is available at the Pro Shop. Tennis - There is no scheduled tennis activity. The west court is available for open play on a first come – first serve basis. Limit play to 2 hours when playing on open court time. General - Rules and etiquette are posted at the courts - Please read and comply. Guest players must be registered to play tennis or pickleball before playing. To register guests, the sponsor member shall send an email to <accounting@cypresswoodsgolf.com> stating member’s number, the date of play, number of the guests (max is 3) and whether for tennis or pickleball. A guest fee of $5 per guest will be charged to the Member’s account. Members are on an honor system to register guests. Guests must be accompanied by the Member at the courts. Proper attire is required on the courts – i.e. shorts/skorts/skirts and shirts must be worn. A tennis shoe or court shoe is required. Court time can be reserved when there is no Club event scheduled. See the Courtside Bulletin Board for reservation instructions and scheduled events. Pool - Hours are 7 a.m. - Dusk daily. Poolside service is available from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. All purchases must be made with a Club member present. To ensure all users have an enjoyable experience at our pool complex, please note and follow all posted Pool, Club and Spa Rules. Fitness Center - Open 24 hours daily. Members and their guests will enjoy a better organized and more user-friendly layout. The Cypress Woods Golf & Country Club Master Association Clubhouse Administrative Office requires a completed Rental Application (all questions answered, all signatures required), a copy of the Lease Agreement between Owner and Tenant, and a $275.00 Application Fee submitted at least 30 days before lease start date, otherwise a $100.00 rush processing fee must be added to the $275.00 application fee for those turned in less than 30 days before start date. If opting for the Membership Transfer, please provide that form accompanied by a $300.00 Transfer Fee. Checks can be separate or combined and should be made payable to “Cypress Woods.” Please note that the Membership Transfer includes Golf, access to the Fitness Center, Clubhouse Pool & Spa, tennis and pickleball courts and a merchandise discount in the Pro Shop. Additionally, presenting your Member ID Card in The Grille Room &/or Dining Room helps the Owner toward the owner’s $600 annual Food Minimum. It is important to note that seasonal/part-time tenants DO NOT have member account charging privileges-they must use a credit card and pay as they go; however, they must present their membership card when paying so that the owner receives credit for the tenants’ food and soft beverage consumption. When the Owner allows a Membership Transfer, the owner relinquishes their rights to the amenities mentioned above. There is a 30 day / one (1) month minimum for rentals - shorter stays are not allowed. Annual full-time tenant Lease Renewals to the same property require no additional fees, but do require submission of a new Rental Application and updated copy of the Renewal Lease at least 30 days before expiration date. If time lapses, another $275.00 application fee will be required. Please review the House & Ground Rules available on our website or pick up a copy in the Clubhouse Administrative Office. Owners are asked to please keep a copy in their unit for their Tenants. It is important to note that our Bylaws dictate that Tenants are not allowed to have any type of pets. Vehicles require parking stickers or hang tags to avoid being ticketed and/or towed. • Our Covenants require owners to notify the Administrative Office ten (10) days in advance if you are having visitors stay at your place in your absence. • If you are an owner that rents your unit out, please share important email blasts with your tenants. Since these emails come from the Cypress Woods website, which is for owners only, renters do not receive them. The only means of communicating with renters, is via the owner. Thank you to our members who have contributed articles and photos. Space is a commodity and is available for photos of Club members attending Club events, as well as Milestone Events (i.e. 50th Wedding Anniversary, 90th birthday...if you aren’t sure ask us).
