DIRECTORS LETTER
Welcome to the 2023 Cypress Bay’s American Musical Theatre’s season. All Wednesday’s performances are at 5:00 pm, and the Thursday and Friday are at 7:00 pm. We start off with the Freshmen’s production of “Freaky Friday” which was taken from the 1976 film starring Jodie Foster. The plot revolves around a mother and daughter switching places. The play runs from February 15 – February 17. Next is “Legally Blonde”. The show tells the story Elle Woods, a sorority girl who enrolls at Harvard Law School to win back her ex-boyfriend, Warner. Throughout the production, very few characters have faith in Elle, but she manages to surprise them when she defies expectations. It runs from March 8 – 10. Finally is “Fame, the Musical” which was taken from the 1980 musical film of the same name. It follows the highs and lows of the class of New York City’s illustrious High School for the Performing Arts from their first year in 1980 to their graduation in 1984. It runs from April 12 – 14.
Our charity is Diabetes Research Institute at the University of Miami, and we ask for donations, much like Broadway Cares. Whatever you can spare; nothing is too little.
