County Public Schools Named a Best Communities for Music Education Five Years in a Row
The Best Communities for Music Education (BCME) Award is a signature program of The NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) Foundation that recognizes and celebrates school districts and schools for their support and commitment to music education and efforts to assure access to music for all students as part of a well-rounded education. Since the 2019-2020 school year, Broward County Public Schools has received this recognition for 5 consecutive years.
The All Broward County Honor Music Concert Series
The All Broward County Honor Music Concert Series is a 4-night event. It consists of Concert Bands, Orchestras, Choirs, and Jazz Bands. Broward County student musicians and their clinicians rehearse for several days as an ensemble and then hold their performance here at the Coral Springs Center for the Arts.
All performances are free, open to the public, and start at 7:00 PM. Tonight is the second performance in our series. The first performance was on January 30, 2025, by the All Broward County Honor Bands. Our second performance was held on February 6, 2025 by the All Broward County Honor Orchestras. The final performance in the series for the 2024-2025 school year be February 26, 2025 featuring the All Broward County Honor Jazz Bands.

We are excited to announce that we will be holding our first annual Elementary Music Showcase Concert on Thursday, April 3, 2025 at Charles W. Flanagan High School. Our special guest conductor for our showcase Orff ensemble will be Dr. Sandra Adorno, music professor at Florida International University.

All-State Music Ensembles
Every year, the Florida Music Education Association (FMEA) holds the All-State Music Event in Tampa, FL. It is a host to 23 All-State Ensembles featuring Florida's top Band, Orchestra, Chorus, Guitar, Orff, Digital Music and Popular Music students conducted by world-class conductors and teachers. It is attended by more than 10,000 people, including secondary music directors, elementary music teachers, music supervisors, college students, college music teachers, school administrators, K-12 students performing in the All-State ensembles, students and professional musicians performing with invited performing ensembles, exhibitors, and parents and family members of performing students.
We are proud to recognize and award our Broward Chorus, Orff, Popular Music Collective & Digital Music students who participated in the All-State Ensembles. These students will be recognized throughout the concert. Congratulations to these outstanding musicians.

Conductor Liana Salinas
Liana Salinas is a dynamic music educator and entrepreneur based in Miami, Florida. She serves as the Artistic Director of the Miami Children’s Chorus (MCC), an organization she has been a part of for 25 years. Having grown up in the chorus, she knows firsthand the power of choral singing and the beautiful community it fosters. In 2023, she proudly shared this message on national television during her interviews on The Kelly Clarkson Show. Under her leadership, MCC has built upon its 60-year legacy with a fresh approach that embraces contemporary styles and skills such as jazz and songwriting.
Mrs. Salinas is also the CEO and Founder of My Music Match, a company that connects students with teachers for private lessons in Miami, New York, and virtually all over the world. She understands that finding the right teacher can shape a child’s future. My Music Match also partners with schools to offer supportive classes for music programs and books musicians for live events and festivals.
A sought-after conductor, Mrs. Salinas has recently led the ACDA Eastern Region Middle School Honor Choir (2024), the Miami-Dade Superintendent’s Middle School Honor Choir (2024), and will conduct the ACDA Western Region Youth Unchanged Voices Honor Choir in 2026. She has commissioned works from esteemed composers, including Rollo Dilworth, Maria A. Ellis, Cristian Grases, Melissa Dunphy, and David Brunner. Additionally, she has had the honor of collaborating with renowned artists such as Manuel Turizo, Juan Luis Guerra, Juanes, Paquito D'Rivera, Willie Chirino, Emilio and Gloria Estefan.
By fostering a love for music, Mrs. Salinas empowers young singers to find their voices, ensuring that the joy of choralsinging continues to resonate for years to come.

Conductor Dr. Reid Masters
Acclaimed for his “infectious passion”, Dr. Reid Masters is the Minister of Music at First Presbyterian Church of Fort Lauderdale where he directs the Cathedral Choir & Kirk Singers. Previously, he served as the Assistant Director of Choral Activities at Kennesaw State University in Georgia where he directed the KSU Chamber Singers, University Chorale, Men’s Ensemble, and the Community & Alumni Choir in addition to teaching Conducting & Choral Literature. Dr. Masters was the Artistic Director of the New Jersey Chamber Singers for 11 years, which released a commercial album of Mozart’s Requiem with Affetto Records, distributed internationally by Naxos in 2018.
Dr. Masters is also the Co-founder and Assistant Director of the professional chamber choir Kinnara Ensemble, working alongside JD Burnett. He studied choral conducting with Joseph Flummerfelt, Andrew Megill, Joe Miller, and Patrick Gardner in addition to working with Helmuth Rilling. In addition to his substantial work with local Professional & Community Choirs, he actively works with local High School choirs, Honor Choirs, & District Choirs, and he is internationally active as a clinician, leading workshops and master classes for ensembles such as the Taichung Chamber Singers in Taiwan and the Highgrove Singers in the Bahamas.
As a countertenor, Dr. Masters has made solo appearances around NJ and NY and he has performed with some of the Northeast’s finest baroque ensembles such as the Brandywine Baroque Band and The Sebastians. In choral settings, he has sung with some of the most prestigious orchestras such as the New York Philharmonic under the direction of conductors such as Maestros Lorin Maazel, Kurt Mazur, Alan Gilbert, Nicholas McGegan, and Jaap van Zweden.
Dr. Masters was named a Rider scholar and graduated Summa cum Laude from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ with Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees in Sacred Music. He was awarded a Mortensen Fellowship and earned a Doctorate of Musical Arts degree in Choral Conducting from Mason Gross School of the Arts where he also directed the Rutgers University Choir and taught undergraduate conducting. Upon graduation, Dr. Masters received the Irene Alm Memorial Prize for his doctoral research on Heinrich Schütz and Hugo Distler.

2025 Superintendent's Advanced Placement Studio Art Exhibition
Broward County Public Schools and the Coral Springs Museum of Art are pleased to present the “2025 Superintendent's Advanced Placement Studio Art Exhibition!” The exhibition showcases original artwork of 2024-2025 high school Advanced Placement Studio Art students. The physical exhibition is on view at the Coral Springs Museum from January 16, 2025 to February 15, 2025.

Conductor Wesley Roy
Wesley Roy served as a public high and middle school teacher for ten years, where he taught choirs, music theory, private voice lessons, and musical theater. He has served on county and state boards for the Florida Vocal Association and the American Choral Directors Association, and has performed nationally and internationally with the Festival Singers of Florida. Mr. Roy is a firm advocate for furthering educational opportunities and accessibility for students and teachers with the ultimate goal of using our art for the service of others. His current work involves designing performance practice resources for teachers and studying the effects of social justice music in our ever-changing choral landscape.
Mr. Roy is currently working towards his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Choral Conducting at the University of Miami where he directs the Frost Symphonic Choir, teaches conducting, and organizes the annual high school honor choir. He also serves as the Assistant Conductor Fellow for the GRAMMY®-nominated professional ensemble Seraphic Fire. Prior to his work in schools, he received a Master of Music Education in Choral Conducting from Florida State University and a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Syracuse University. In his free time, he enjoys cuddling with his sweet little dachshund.
