HELLO EVERYONE... WELCOME TO ALL THE MEMBERS OF OUR CYGNUS COMMUNITY This is the first Autumn letter, which will develop across the year, into a termly bulletin that will celebrate the work taking place within the schools, across our organisation. From the launch in Spring 2024, The Cygnus Magazine will be a platform for all of our schools to share their achievements and celebrate our community life.
This chapter of our trust journey began with two affiliated primary schools in Dartford, Kent operating under the Cygnus Academies Trust name; Manor Community Primary School and Westgate Primary School. Today we proudly stand as a trust comprising of eight schools; across Tonbridge, Dartford and South East London.

This year we celebrate the eight-year anniversary of Cygnus Academies Trust and widening our impact across early years settings, primary schools and the education sector.
Autumn 2023 The journey of Cygnus Academies Trust has surpassed the initial goals set when it was founded in 2016, by David Lloyd and the Trust board. The vision was to provide a community-focused, highperforming group of schools in Dartford, as well as use the trust’s sponsor status to support other school settings in the local area. They not only succeeded but went further by growing the trust to where we are now. We will continue to build on their shoulders. I am truly grateful to all our dedicated colleagues who have played instrumental roles in the success of our schools and partnerships already. I hope that they share the pride in our achievements so far. From improving results, to sporting achievements and enriching trips, a renewed commitment to the arts, physical and mental health, outdoor learning and creativity, and our exciting new strategic partnerships, we have a powerful story to share over this academic year.
Our journey continues with much more in store.
This includes every child and young person eligible for free school meals in the last six years or with no recourse to public funds, and all children and young people who are careexperienced.
This summer our founder David Lloyd retired as CEO from our organisation and as the new member and CEO of Cygnus Academies Trust, I am thrilled to embark on this next chapter together with our children, each of our schools and our communities. One of my highlights from the this term already, has been the opportunity to meet the remarkable individuals across all our schools, shared services teams and governance, who make our organisation truly special. The year ahead is brimming with new ambition. Most importantly we have our unwavering commitment- to ensure we realise ambition for all our children and young people, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds.
It is this group of pupils for whom we can make the biggest difference over the coming years, and it will be this mission, to realise ambition for our children, schools and communities, which will propel us forward. .
