A CHALLENGE AND A HALF FOR CAI

Congratulations to Cai Newell Jones from the YGC Service who recently completed the London Marathon.

Cai who works as a Technical Assistant was raising money for MACS, a cause close to his heart. MACS is a charity that supports children and adults born without eyes or with underdeveloped eyes. Hari, Cai’s son was born in April 2021 with microphthalmia, and MACS has been a great comfort to Cai and his family during a very challenging time.

Cai said: “Running the London Marathon 2024 was an unforgettable experience. It is clearly a huge occasion in London because the race from the start line all the way to the finish was one big party for the crowd, this had a huge influence on the runners and encouraged us forward

Two events stay in the mind The first was running pass Cutty Sark - the alignment of the track and the noise of the crowd created a certain feeling as if you were taking part in a Grand Prix! The second was half way in to the race, after running through some fairly ordinary streets, turning a corner and seeing the impressive structure of Tower Bridge in front of you.

It was a great feeling of pride to reach the finish line. After months of hard work preparing for the marathon, I had managed to achieve it and have been able to raise so much money for the amazing charity MACS which is very close to my heart.

It’s still possible for staff to contribute by following this link: Marathon Llundain Cai

Thank you so much for all the support and the contributions, I am extremely grateful for your generosity.”
