On behalf of the Board of Trustees and the rest of the CYA staffers, thank you for your continuous support to our mission of evangelizing and training young people in our campuses. As we look at the next three years in CYA, we aspire to move forward in three areas in our work: (1) to grow in evangelization, (2) to have more young, passionate disciples, and (3) to become more vision-driven.
The year 2019 has been a year of starting and solidifying. We have identified some focus areas such as: implementing Action Group Leaders Training for small discussion groups and transitioning CYA graduates into meaningful work through participation and service with other professionals of our community.
Starting New Groups Though not particularly part of our original plans, we witnessed and helped in the creation of CYA After 6 (CA6) and the unexpected emergence of a new CYA unit at the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay (CYA UERM) where CYA is officially accredited. We also started STEP, a Staff Training and Exposure Program, which allows new CYA staffers from provincial chapters and youth workers from other communities to have an initial immersion and experience of our CYA culture and training programs.
Solidifying Christian Discipleship We praise God for the opportunity to raise more young passionate disciples through our series of talks, formation and training households, and small groups (also known as Action Groups). In 2019, a total of 136 students (86 in Manila, 50 in other provinces) have experienced living in households. We also praise God for the more than doubled number of students who have gone through our Christian Life Series and Christian Growth Series, allowing more young people to begin and renew their personal relationship with Jesus. We also celebrate an encouraging increase of young people desiring to be discipled through their Action Groups.
Moving Forward in 2020 As we aspire to evangelize more young men and women, we have identified other opportunities for students to make an initial commitment to Christ not only through our high impact events, but also through one-on-one conversations and hub gatherings. We are also increasing our efforts to connect with community children and smoothen the transition between CYA and our university districts in Ang Ligaya ng Panginoon community. Additionally, seeing the need to train more leaders, we will be establishing a comprehensive training program for all our staff levels. We have also refined our training plan for Action Group Leaders to ensure better accountability and discipleship among students. Aiming to reach more youth, we also hope to establish and open our 10th school in Metro Manila, strengthen CYA After 6 and revamp our CYA website.
Invitation to CYA @ 40 2020 is an exciting year for us as we celebrate 40 years of God’s faithfulness to CYA! We ask for your prayers as CYA will celebrate through its various key events leading up to CYA’s 40th Anniversary and Grand Alumni Homecoming in November. You are invited to celebrate with us! Student leaders are given opportunities to pass on what they have learned and to raise up other students to be leaders like them through leading prayer meetings, Action Groups, and service teams.
I really never had any idea what it was like to have a personal relationship with God. CLS changed all of that for me. Understanding God and learning more about Him allowed me to fall in love deeper with my faith, and now my conviction to follow His will is as strong as ever. ntering into college, it was clear to me that my goal was to be successful, so I could help my countrymen. The idea of being in the service of the people was instilled in me early on, and I knew that being able to support in any capacity gave me fulfillment. But at one moment, I asked myself, “is my desire to serve really for the people or for my own satisfaction?” When I came to CYA, I thought that maybe serving people came with just being good-natured. This kept me asking, “where does being good-natured come from?” It was during these times that I feared that my intentions in serving others might have been tainted with the pride of knowing that I am needed. I came to CYA thinking that I can depend on myself alone, and that I am enough to get things done. Eventually, as I became more involved in CYA, I realized that it is only through the grace of the Lord that we can be humbled and we are able to fully surrender to His call to serve. I realized that it is only through Him that my work can bear fruit. A heart set apart by the Lord is a life set apart for His people. Being a part of CYA is a life experience that helped me to realign my perspective with the Lord’s. I learned not only to dream high for myself but also dream deep - to know why we aspire for a goal and to lay the foundations of these dreams in Christ.
A heart set apart by the Lord is a life set apart for His people. My deepest conviction about my decision to be a full-time missionary for CYA was because I know the Lord loves me. I want to respond to His call because of my great love for the Lord and my desire to be obedient to His will. The feeling I get every time I imagine His great love for us is overwhelming. A New CYA Unit for Medical Students
C
YA Med is a unit that started as former CYA members in their medical studies initiated review and tutorial sessions followed by fellowship or prayer together. Starting as a small support group with members from medical schools like UP Manila, UST, UERM, and PLM, this regular time together gave the group of brothers and sisters a vision to start a community of medical students with CYA-UERM (University of the East Ramon Magsaysay) as its leading unit. A group of 10-20 med students get together for regular prayer meetings, inspirational talks, Mass before exams, fellowship and even study and prayer nights!

But having the avenue to be filled with joy, remember hope, and be rooted in faith which is what CYA brings, surely makes it worthwhile. CYA After 6 C
YA After 6 (CA6) is a new initiative for recent university graduates and young professionals envisioning themselves to be movers and shakers of today's society by forming youth who can be active witnesses of Christ wherever they go! Since July 2019, CA6 has been holding regular events and initiatives to bring young people together from different CYA hubs. KKBBH truly lives on beyond college!
