About The Observer
About Us
The Observer is the weekly campus newspaper of Case Western Reserve University. Established in 1969, it exists to report news affecting and/or involving students, and provide an editorial forum for the university community. The Observer is distributed in campus buildings, residence halls and many University Circle establishments.
The Observer has been recognized by the Associated Collegiate Press at both the regional and national levels. Most recently, a print edition of The Observer placed ninth in “Best of Show” at the Spring 2018 Midwinter Convention. The Observer’s print publication and website placed ninth in “Best of Show” at the Spring 2016 National Convention as well. At the Spring 2015 “Best of the Midwest Conference,” the paper took home eight awards and finished first in the top publication website category.
Requests
Advertising with The Observer connects you with more than 12,000 undergraduate, graduate and professional students, as well as more than 6,000 staff members, plus families and friends. Clients may request that their advertisements appear on specific pages within the print publication or in one of the following sections: News, Arts and Entertainment or Sports. We work hard to fulfill all requests but cannot guarentee requested placement. Ads cannot be placed in the Opinion section. Online advertising at observer.case.edu is available year-round.
All requests for advertising can be submitted via e-mail to observer@case.edu. Please note that print advertising requests must be placed by Tuesday at 11:59 p.m. for placement in that Friday’s issue.

Our homepage averages 30,000 page views per month during the academic year. A reader spends about an average of 1.5 minutes on our homepage. The most popular stories each week get around 1,000 to 2,000 page views, and an average story gets about 100 page views. http://observer.case.edu observer@case.edu Online advertising at observer.case.edu is available year-round. Ads will be displayed on our homepage’s sidebar and on the footer of stories. It costs $150 for a week of advertising, for a slot that is shared with up to three total advertisers.
