• Sports Special sections of The Observer are printed periodically and include content directed at a specific audience or occasion. Please see the publication schedule for a list of tentatively scheduled special sections. More sections may be announced throughout the year and will be disclosed on The Observer’s business portal at observer.case.edu/ about/advertising.

Clients may request their advertisement(s) appear on a specific page or in a particular section of The Observer. All requests are subject to evaluation by the business and editorial staff; requests are not guaranteed to be granted.

The layout of the entirety on The Observer will remain consistent with the layout presentation used in the year 2012 – 2013 The Observer is a four column paper. Each column measures 2.375”, with a .167” gutter between each column. The following is a column-inch representation:

• 1 column inch • 2 column inches • 3 column inches • 4 column inches

The standard advertisement sizes are listed above.

To keep the integrity of the publication, advertisements are never accepted for the front page of the publication and are only available for the second and last page on rare occasion at the discretion of the editorial and business staff.

Open Rate for CWRU departments and local businesses: $9.00 per column inch

The Observer’s General Guidelines General Guidelines

Ads can be produced by The Observer’s award-winning design staff for a $100 surcharge. Please submit requests for design at least one week prior before your targeted run date. We cannot guarantee timely production of late submissions.

Payment for advertisements is due within 30 days of the invoice’s date. Failure to pay an invoice on time will result in a 10 percent surcharge on the unpaid invoice. This surcharge will occur for every month the invoice is unpaid, beginning on the 31st day of the invoice.

The Observer will happily bill CWRU speedtype numbers. If you are an internal client, please submit a speedtype number with your advertising request.

Please add $100 for color on any size page.

Online Advertising:

Advertising on The Observer’s website may be bundled with print advertisements or sold separately.

Online ads are billed at a flat rate of $150 per week.

National Business

National businesses should contact our national advertising partner, MediaMate for processing of advertisement requests. Please email Marie Pierce at mpierce@mymediamate. com.

Classified Ads:

Placement of a classified ad includes placement both in print and online at The Observer’s online classified board.

Ads are $15 for the first two lines of 25 words or less $5 for each additional line.

Bundled Ads

Ads purchases in a bundled package may be available at a discount to those advertising. Please contact the business department for information on bundle packs available.
