Molong’s sweet HIDDEN GEM
Good lolly shops are hard to come by but there lies a hidden gem in Molong called, Sweetness Café and Lolly Shop and it’ s sure to bring back a few memories. Owner of the Shop Mike bought it three years ago and he has now transformed it into a retro styled dining and lolly shop experience. “I never thought I would own a lolly shop, but I always wanted a café. “We are just trying to bring something different to Molong. The kids go crazy over the lollies and seeing their face is just great!” said Mike. As you walk into Sweetness Café and Lolly

Shop you will not only find rows of lollies but red booths, records on the wall, vinyl and old memorabilia. “It is great to see when people come in that they are taken back to memories of them going into old restaurants. We even serve our milkshakes in the old glasses. “It is like the good old days, you just don’t get as much for a dollar anymore,” said Mike. Sweetness Café and Lolly Shop is certainly different, and Mike says it is all about creating a relaxed atmosphere. “We are now offering live music as there is nothing else like it in Molong. You can go to the
pub, but a lot of people don’t want to do that. “We have Smith and Jones coming back in August and we are starting Open Mic nights. A lot of the young ones can’t get a chance, so it is a good opportunity for them. We will try to have them every second Saturday. It is all plug in, so they just need to bring their guitar and away they go. “You can come out and do poetry, you can come do anything,” said Mike. Sweetness Café and Lolly Shop have a range of food on offer and some of the menu items are just a bit different. “We also create a lot of our own stuff. I have
just created a hamburger and we didn’t know how it would go. It has peanut butter, bacon, banana, lettuce, honey and they are going off,” said Mike. When it comes down to it there is nothing quite like the look on a kid face when they see all the lollies says Mike. “The kids are the best. You can’t sort of say to them though that when you lock up we will lock you in here because they would just love that,” laughed Mike. Sweetness My Lolly Shop is open everyday from 8-4.30pm, located at 12 bank Street Molong. Why not head along this weekend.
