Meet Chris Bromley’s pride and joy - an original, unrestored, 1979 AMC (American Motors Corporation) Concord 2 door sedan. The car was bought new in Texas USA in 1979 then was traded back to the dealer in 2006 who had it on display as it was in such good condition. A collector in Sydney bought it, imported it, and then put it in storage with his other cars for a few years. Chris said, “I purchased it from him about 4 years ago. It is a beautiful car to drive and runs a 258 ci straight six-cylinder engine through a torque flight three speed auto transmission. It has power steering, (left hand drive), air conditioning, velour trim and a half Landau vinyl top, and of course, white wall tyres. It goes on lots of outings around the Orange area and is registered with The Orange District Antique Motor Club who have an active social vintage and veteran car following.”

Specialty Paint Repairs is described as a prestige auto body repair centre. What sets you apart from other in your line of work ? We tend to do more high-end vehicles; we have staff that
are trained in those areas. We have the BMW approval, so the boys have to go down to Melbourne to do their training and BMW audit us every twelve months to make sure we comply. A lot of other places don’t have to jump over those hurdles. Is there such a big difference in the paint work of high-end vehicles? There definitely is, also in the products that we have to use to comply with the manufacturers. So we need to make sure that we use the correct paints and genuine parts that they ask us to use.
Do you only work on high-end vehicles? We do smash repairs, all painting services, normal automotive painting, a few other bits and pieces, if someone wants something painted — we’ve even done a little bit of furniture here and there. What is the main cause of vehicles ending up in your workshop? Kangaroos probably make up for 60 or 70 per cent of our work. I’ve probably got about five vehicles here at the moment that are due to kangaroos.

Variety Bash stops by Mullion Creek Public School….and the kids loved it! The students of Mullion Creek Public School will be able enhance and develop their learning opportunities thanks to the Variety NSW Bash coming to their village. More than 100 Variety Bash cars visited the school on Friday May 25, bringing with them the chance to give kids in Mullion Creek a fair go. “The school has a strong technology program and
students will be using the grant from the Variety Bash to provide opportunities to extend their knowledge with additional iPads, laptops, robots and educational software, building on their current technology and coding skills”, School Principal Sally Beer said. The donation is part of $50,000 worth of grants the Variety Bash will give to regional NSW schools during
the event to help ensure kids, no matter where they live, don’t miss out. This year’s event started on Sunday 20 May at Foreshore Park Newcastle, and and headed to Nundle, Glen Innes, Tulloona, Narrabri, Eumungerie, Forbes, Euabalong West, Griffith, Caragabal, Orange, Mullion Creek, Mudgee along the way, before finishing at Foreshore
Park on Saturday 26 May with a Family Fun Day. On day six of the week-long adventure the Variety Bash crews were treated to breakfast by the school P&C, where they met the kids to see firsthand the difference their fundraising makes. “All our Bashers have a fantastic time on the Bash and the highlights from the trip are always seeing the
kids’ faces who we have helped along the way,” Variety NSW Regional Director Jason Bourke said. “All of the funds raised will provide grants to help give Aussie kids a fair go. This might be a new wheelchair for a child with a disability, a scholarship to help a child facing financial hardship achieve their sporting dream, or even nappies for a family doing it tough”.
