Heifer Station under the hammer this Friday, June 23

One of Orange’s best-known tourism destinations and vineyards, Heifer Station, will go under the hammer this Friday, June 23.

Up for auction is the entire 51.44ha (127 acres) property, 9 kilometres west of Orange, which includes the award-winning wine business and cellar door, 24ha (59 acres) vineyard, four-bedroom country homestead and two-bedroom luxury ‘B&B’ accommodation.

When current owners Phillip and Michelle Stivens bought the property in 2009, the vineyard had been long neglected. Convinced it was worth saving, the couple spent three years getting the vineyard back into shape.

Making their first vintage in 2012, they opened the cellar door in 2016, repurposing the century-old timber and corrugated iron wool shed on the property. In the years since, the cellar door grounds have been expanded and a second tasting room and function centre added.

Heifer Station has also hosted ‘Day on the Green’ music festival events, headlined by iconic Aussie rockers Cold Chisel in 2020 and Midnight Oil in 2022.

Selling agent Stewart Murphy of Elders Emms Mooney said it is a diverse offering that has attracted quite some interest.
