remarkable year!

A MESSAGE FROM OUR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Dear CWC Los Angeles Families,

Congratulations on another incredible school year.

As I reflect on this year, I keep coming back to our CWC Core Values: Excellence, Community, Diversity, Authenticity, and Change. Together, we brought each of them to life this year.

Excellence was evident in the growth of our students When you look back at where your child started the year and where they are now, the progress is remarkable From the books they read and discussed through the new Fishtank curriculum to the academic growth reflected in their assessments, our students showed what is possible through hard work, curiosity, and creativity.

Community showed up in countless ways. Every school day, you got your children to school, helping us strengthen attendance across the region and ensuring students had access to meaningful learning opportunities

You also supported our schools through volunteering, fundraising, attending events, and sharing CWC with friends and neighbors. Your partnership makes our schools stronger.

Diversity remains one of our greatest strengths. We stood alongside our immigrant families as they navigated uncertainty and fear, working to ensure our schools are safe, welcoming spaces for all We also celebrated the richness of our community through events like the AAHPI Night Market, Black Futures, Nuestras Raices, FestivALL and so many more

Authenticity guides us as we continue to build and reinvest in a strong partnership with our educators. After 18 months of thoughtful collaboration, we are ending the school year with a tentative agreement that reflects both the tremendous value of our teachers and our shared commitment to the long-term sustainability of our schools

And through it all, we embraced Change together. Whether your family joined CWC for the first time, supported the opening of a new building, added a new grade to a campus, or navigated the loss of a beloved community member, we faced each moment together and took care of each other.

Thank you all for your trust, partnership, advocacy, and unwavering support of our students, staff, and schools And to our graduates: congratulations! We know you will carry the lessons, values, and experiences you gained at CWC into your next chapter, and we cannot wait to see the ways you will lead, contribute, and become changemakers in your new schools and communities

I hope you and your family have a joyful, restful summer

With gratitude, Melissa
