A Celebration of Artistic Excellence The 2024–25 season at the Hylton Performing Arts Center in Manassas, Virginia, promises a celebration of artistic excellence and embraces creativity, diversity, and shared arts experiences. The entire family will enjoy Disney’s Encanto: The Sing-Along Film Concert accompanied by a live band, then return for Cirque Kalabanté’s Afrique en Cirque, a multi-sensory extravaganza celebrating African culture. Theater enthusiasts will relish The Acting Company’s adaptation of Shakespeare’s The Comedy of Errors and be inspired by Broadway sensation Mandy Gonzalez’s tribute to Veterans.

Kick off the 2024–25 Hylton Center season with comedy the D.C.-area does best—politics!

Former cast members and the co-writer of the long-running, beloved Capitol Steps introduce their new musical parody ensemble, Capitol Fools, in an evening where no politician is safe and every absurdity gets its moment in the spotlight. The spirited, irreverent Fools are blazing new steps up a stairway of satire, holding up a mirror to goofiness across the political spectrum. Expect more bipartisan belly laughs as the Fools skewer the day’s news with witty song parodies, uproarious impressions, comical costume changes, and more.

Encanto: The Sing-Along Film Concert

Disney Concerts and AMP Worldwide Present Encanto: The Sing-Along Film Concert national tour. Encanto lovers of all ages can sing along with their favorite GRAMMY Awardwinning songs performed by a live band while watching the full film. Encanto: The SingAlong Film Concert will include all the music of the Academy Award-winning film, including iconic hits like “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” and “Surface Pressure.” Fans are encouraged to dress up as Mirabel, Luisa, Isabela, or any of their favorite characters from the film and to use their voices to transform the Hylton Center’s Merchant Hall into one big celebration of the Madrigal family. ppd ALL

Villalobos Brothers Celebrate Día de los Muertos early with Artist-in-Residence and the GRAMMY Award-winning Villalobos Brothers, who are redefining contemporary Mexican music while delivering positive messages of brotherhood, equity, and love. Drawing on their classical training from prestigious institutions nationwide, this lively trio of virtuoso fiddlers, singers, and songwriters blends Mexican folk music with Latin, jazz, rock, and classical, creating a fun-loving and cheerfully expressive sound that has delighted audiences across the U.S. and around the world. As a Hylton Center Artist-in-Residence, the Villalobos Brothers will also work with the community through classes and workshops during the week leading up to the performance. ppd ALL

Mandy Gonzalez in Concert

Join Mandy Gonzalez, whose voice “has a potency even the most revered divas would envy” (City Pulse), for an evening of Broadway songs, film scores, and music from her debut album, Fearless. Gonzalez starred on Broadway in Hamilton as Angelica Schuyler, as Elphaba in Wicked, and as Nina Rosario in Lin Manuel Miranda’s In the Heights. Miranda has called Gonzalez, “one of the greatest singers on earth” and penned her the song “Fearless,” based on her work with the #FearlessSquad movement.

The proud daughter of a Veteran, Gonzalez’s debut at the Hylton Center will also honor the Veterans in our community. ppd ALL

Cirque Kalabanté invites the whole family to Afrique en Cirque, a unique fusion of African arts and European circus traditions that makes for a multi-sensory extravaganza like no other.

With colorful costumes and scenery, daring acrobats and dancers perform gravity-defying feats accompanied by the pulsating rhythms of a live Afro jazz ensemble. Inspired by daily life in his native Guinea, multi-disciplinary artist and founder of Cirque Kalabanté, Yamoussa Bangoura, created Afrique en Cirque to celebrate the vitality, joy, and beauty of African culture. “Explosive drumming and dance routines, the group delivered mind-blowing acrobatic sequences with extraordinary precision” (Vice Magazine). ppd ALL

Welcome the “world’s reigning male chorus” (New Yorker) back in this rich and varied program of holiday wonders, including traditional carols as well as gospel numbers, in addition to music from around the world that spans centuries. American Festival Pops Orchestra Holiday Pops: Songs of the Season Peter Wilson, conductor The American Festival Pops Orchestra (AFPO) spreads musical goodwill and cheer in this annual audience favorite! Holiday Pops: Songs of the Season returns under the baton of Artistic Director and Conductor Peter Wilson, a former Marine violinist of The White House and a “brilliant artist” (Washington Post).

Seán Heely’s Celtic Christmas D.C.-based, award-winning Celtic fiddler, Gaelic singer, and harpist Seán Heely returns for a magical winter tour through the Scottish Highlands and across the rugged Irish coast.

Featuring Highland and Irish dancing and the MacMillan Pipe Band, the festive journey follows ancient Gaelic carols tucked in perfectly with lively Irish tunes and familiar Christmas melodies with a Celtic twist. A musical ambassador for Scottish music and culture, Heely won the Dan R. MacDonald Memorial Prize from the Gaelic Performing Arts’ Clan Donald Lands Trust in April 2023. Audiences are invited to bask in the warmth of the holidays in this jubilant evening of fiddle and bagpipes. ppd

The quartet made its Grand Ole Opry Debut in 2023 to a sold-out crowd where they were joined by Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood, Steve Earle, and Lauren Alaina, among others. JigJam includes Ireland’s County Offaly natives Jamie McKeogh (lead singer and guitar); Daithi Melia (5-string banjo and dobro); Tipperary-born Gavin Strappe (mandolin and tenor banjo); and St. Louis, Missouri’s own Kevin Buckley (fiddle). Recorded in front of a live audience, each two-hour episode features contemporary artists in genres ranging from roots, folk, blues, and country to indie rock, synth pop, world music, alternative, and beyond. American Festival Pops Orchestra Armed Forces Day Celebration Commemorate Armed Forces Day with a patriotic musical tribute performed by the American Festival Pops Orchestra (AFPO) in collaboration with George Mason University’s Veterans and the Arts Initiative, a nationally recognized program that is based at the Hylton Center. Under the baton of Peter Wilson, AFPO performs a stirring salute to the community’s Veterans. A former senior enlisted music advisor to The White House and Marine violinist for 30 years, Wilson retired in 2020 and was awarded the Legion of Merit. Mario infuses classic magic tricks and illusions with high-tech robotic innovation to create an assortment of homemade contraptions that do his comedic bidding. Based on the stories by Ruth Stiles Gannett Story adaptation by Jennifer and Landis Smith and Leslie Reidel Score by Charles Gilbert Nine-year-old Elmer Elevator is on a mission to rescue a baby dragon held captive on Wild Island. Celebrating the 75th anniversary of Ruth Stiles Gannett’s Newbery Honor-winning book My Father’s Dragon, Enchantment Theatre Company brings this story to life by blending original music, puppets, and creative scenic effects. “It fully captures the spirit of the beloved stories, the essence of childhood, and the imagination of the audience, both young and old” (Phindie). $15

Dylan Triplett is a blues and soul prodigy from St. Louis, Missouri, and was raised in a musical family. He began singing at age nine and has been performing professionally since late 2016. The Argentinian-born percussionist leads the Mason School of Music Latin American Ensemble.

Music, Dance, and Theater Presented by Local Arts Organizations

Explore a wintry dreamscape and usher in the holiday season. Kettle Run High School senior, Levi Pardo, is featured on trumpet in Leroy Anderson’s Trumpeter’s Lullaby.

Youngest audience members will appreciate Goodnight Moon, composed by American Eric Whitacre and sung by soprano and audience favorite, Christine Maxted.

Join the Manassas Chorale, its smaller ensemble, and the top choirs from multiple local high schools as they salute heroes and heroines from the past and present.

Princesses and Pirates Friday, May 30 at 7:30 p.m.

Take a musical journey with the Chorale, its Ensemble, Orchestra, and the Greater Manassas Children’s Choir (GMCC) as they celebrate the stories of Disney princesses and swash-buckling pirates through music. GMCC students in Grades 2–8 perform alongside adult singers in this exciting musical adventure.

The Chorale is joined by the Voices United Festival Choir and a guest clinician, along with an orchestra of talented musicians who, together, fill the hall with magnificent music.

Welcome the colorful and captivating artistry of the Marcolivia Duo. The award-winning violin and viola duo of Olivia Hajioff and Marc Ramirez will perform the evocative Romantic Fantasy for Violin, Viola, and Orchestra by Australian composer Arthur Benjamin, as well as Vivaldi’s Concerto for 2 Violins in A Minor.

Violinist Leonid Sushansky joins Maestro Villani and the MSO for Mendelssohn’s highly-regarded Violin Concerto in E Minor. At age 15, Sushansky debuted with the New York Philharmonic at the invitation of conductor Zubin Mehta. He is the Artistic Director of the National Chamber Ensemble and continues his distinguished career as a performer and teacher. The concert concludes with Respighi’s gorgeous and picturesque tone poem, Pines of Rome. MH Fantasies Saturday, May 3 at 7:30 p.m.

World touring concert pianist Catherine Lan has been praised

by Palm Beach Daily News as a pianist who “has a fluent technique, sensitive musicianship and a probing intellect.” Lan joins the MSO to perform Brahms’ grand and expressive Piano Concerto No. 1. She has appeared at prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall in New York, Victoria Hall in Singapore, and Kadriorg Palace in Tallinn (Estonia). A suite of brilliant music from French composer Georges Bizet’s masterpiece opera Carmen closes the concert and the MSO’s season. MH

Princess Aurora is gifted a curse of death at her christening by the evil Carabosse, but it is softened to a gift of blissful sleep where she can only be awakened by a prince and true love’s kiss. Prince William Little Theatre Ken Ludwig’s Baskerville: A Sherlock Holmes Mystery October 4–5, 11–12 at 8 p.m.

Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson must crack the mystery of “The Hound of the Baskervilles” before a family curse dooms its newest heir. Watch as these intrepid investigators try to escape a dazzling and dizzying web of clues, silly accents, disguises, and deceit.

Youth Discount Tickets Half-price tickets are available for youth through Grade 12 for all Hylton Presents performances. All patrons, regardless of age, require a ticket. We ensure performances are accessible to all patrons.

To request interpretation services, captioning, a sighted guide, and audio description, please contact the Ticket Office at least two weeks prior to the event, however, more advanced notice is appreciated. Large print programs, braille programs, and Assistive Listening Devices are available upon advance request for all performances and events. Please ask the Front of House or Ticket Office Team upon your arrival to access these services.

Accessible Seating/ Patrons with Mobility Disabilities All spaces have wheelchair and scooter accessible locations. Patrons can choose to remain in their wheelchairs or opt to transfer to seats. If a patron wishes to remain in their wheelchair, please contact the Ticket Office so a seat can be removed prior to arrival. Transfer wheelchairs are available upon request for transfer from lobby to theater seats only. Accessible seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Additional Tickets Discount*

Use our convenient plan to spread payments over several months. Please request a payment plan when ordering by phone or in person. The deadline to enroll in a payment plan is May 22. Payment plans must be charged to a credit card (VISA, MasterCard, or American Express) that must remain current until the final payment has been received. Payments will be divided into three equal parts. The first payment will be charged on May 22, the second payment will be charged on June 19, and the final payment will be charged on July 24. Tickets will not be distributed until the final payment has been received.

Subscribers may order additional tickets along with their subscription or throughout the season at a 15% discount by calling or visiting the Ticket Office. Seating will be assigned on a best-available basis. It is likely these seats will not be adjacent to the seats in your existing subscription.

Seating Priority: How Orders Are Filled Seating priority is based on the date a subscriber’s order is received at the Ticket Office. Friends of the Hylton Center members receive highest priority. Tickets are mailed to subscribers in late July.

Note: The Friends of the Hylton Center priority period begins two weeks prior to the general public on-sale date for subscriptions.

Ticket Exchanges*

Subscription Handling Charge All subscription orders are subject to a one-time $15 handling charge in lieu of individual ticket purchasing fees. The handling charge subsidizes the ticket delivery cost of the subscription packet and the subscriber benefits. This charge is applied to orders purchased online, over the phone, and in person.

Ensure Your Tickets Are Authentic The Hylton Center can only authenticate tickets purchased through the Hylton Center Ticket Office and through our website, HyltonCenter.org. Tickets.com is our current authorized ticket provider. *Applies to Hylton Presents, Hylton Family Series, Matinee Idylls, and American Roots Series events only when ordering by phone or in person. Arts Partner performances are not included.

Subscribers may exchange tickets without fees for another event in the same season.
