Each year, these local arts organizations present a vibrant program of performing arts on the stages of the Hylton Center. Officially known as Arts Partners, these outstanding organizations are based here in Prince William County and the City of Manassas, and are evidence of the extraordinary talents and resources that exist in our area.

HANDEL’S MESSIAH & THE NUTCRACKER: CLARA’S CHRISTMAS

Sunday, December 12 at 3:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The Nutcracker: Clara’s Christmas is an original and inspiring interpretation of the traditional ballet, The Nutcracker, and weaves the true meaning of Christmas into the classic story of Clara, the Nutcracker, and the Land of Sweets just in time for the holidays. Original choreography by Robert and Robin Sturm.

THOUGHTS OF SPRING: MIXED PROGRAM

Sunday, April 10 at 3:30 p.m. A lively and thought-provoking mixed program, Asaph’s Director, Daniel Faudree, creates an artistic offering that combines the light-hearted with the heartfelt as an old favorite is brought back to life while bringing new and exciting works to the stage.

April 16, 17, 23, 24 at 3 p.m. A precocious young orphan’s luck changes when she is chosen to spend time as a guest at the home of wealthy businessman Oliver Warbucks. Annie charms her way into the hearts of his household staff, and even the gruff “Daddy Warbucks” can’t help but learn to love this little girl. PRINCE WILLIAM LITTLE THEATRE

DIAL “M” FOR MURDER

October 8-9; 15-16 at 8 p.m. October 10 and 17 at 2 p.m. Set in the early 1950’s in London, England, tennis pro Tony Wendice marries beautiful Margot, who has exactly what Tony loves: beauty and money. The suspenseful plot thickens as Tony schemes to murder his wife for her money, and an American mystery writer, plus a cool, inquisitive investigator enter the picture.

A CHRISTMAS CAROL

(TOURING VERSION) December 10 and 17 at 8 p.m. December 11 and 18 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. December 12 and 19 at 2 p.m. The classic story of the mean-spirited, miserly Ebenezer Scrooge comes to life in this cautionary tale about money and happiness. One cold Christmas Eve, Scrooge finds himself alone and visited by three spirits who show him his last chance to escape a horrible fate. The touring version of this holiday classic retains much of the flavor of the original, longer adaptation. At the close of this performance, be prepared to sing along to Prince William Little Theatre’s Choral Christmas Card.

SISTER ACT

March 11 and 18 at 8 p.m. March 12 and 19 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. March 13 and 20 at 2 p.m. This feel-good musical comedy smash based on the hit 1992 film has audiences jumping to their feet! When disco diva Deloris Van Cartier witnesses a murder, she is placed in protective custody where she is the least likely to be found: a convent! Filled with gospel music and outrageous dancing, this moving story, performed by a cast of amazing women of all ages, pays tribute to the universal power of friendship.

YOUTH ORCHESTRAS OF PRINCE WILLIAM

Applications for the 2021–2022 season are now being accepted. New instrumentalists and experienced musicians alike are welcome. New this season: eligibility for the most advanced ensemble has been raised to age 21. Auditions are by invitation only and based on written applications which are due by July 31. BACK TO THE CLASSICS

Saturday, October 23 at 7:30 p.m. The Manassas Symphony Orchestra (MSO) returns to Merchant Hall with a program featuring classical music royalty. With a few months left in Beethoven’s 250th anniversary year, the MSO celebrates with acclaimed violinist, Emil Chudnovsky, performing Beethoven’s extraordinary Violin Concerto in D Major. Chudnovsky has been hailed by The Washington Post as having “Virtuosity…, showmanship, [and] artistry.” The concert closes with the music of Beethoven’s teacher, Haydn, in the delightful Symphony No. 92 in G Major (“Oxford”).

FAMILY CONCERT: COLOR AND LIGHT

Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 3:30 p.m. The Manassas Symphony Orchestra’s (MSO) annual family concert tradition continues with an exploration of musical colors and features Fairfax High School junior flute soloist, Irina Lin, performing Charles Griffes’ Poem. Audiences will also enjoy the world premiere of Virginia composer Jonathan Romeo’s Light, a musical portrait of the magnificent power of the human spirit. The concert closes with the MSO’s exclusive, colorful Music and Light Show Spectacular!

AMADEUS!

Saturday, March 5 at 7:30 p.m. Brian Woods, praised for his thoughtful and dynamic performances, joins the Manassas Symphony Orchestra for an all-things-Mozart concert to perform Mozart’s Piano Concerto in A Major. Tchaikovsky’s homage Suite No. 4 (“Mozartiana”) opens the concert, and Mozart’s engaging Symphony No. 38 (“Prague”) caps the evening.

REFLECTION AND HOPE

Saturday, May 7 at 7:30 p.m. Colgan High School senior Angelina Seamster has been playing cello with the Manassas Symphony Orchestra since the 8th grade. Miss Seamster returns as a guest soloist to perform Haydn’s Cello Concerto No. 1 in C Major. The orchestra closes the concert and its 2021–2022 season with Beethoven’s own favorite— Symphony No. 8 in F Major.

MANASSAS BALLET THEATRE

DRACULA

October 15-16 at 7:30 p.m. October 17 at 3 p.m. Streaming begins Oct. 30 Manassas Ballet Theatre (MBT) presents Dracula, a dramatic and seductive production that transports the audience to Transylvania after dark. The Kim Reynolds Band accompanies MBT live on stage for a multi-layered, spellbinding performance.

THE NUTCRACKER

December 16–18 at 7:30 p.m. December 18–19; 21-23 at 3 p.m. Streaming begins December 24 Sweet Clara, naughty Fritz, dancing dolls, Drosselmeyer, and the Nutcracker Prince embark on a dreamy journey of fantasy and sweets. With stunning sets and costumes, MBT’s international company dancers, plus an ensemble cast and live musical accompaniment by the Manassas Ballet Theatre Orchestra, create magic for all ages.

GAITE PARISIENNE & MORE!

March 11-12 at 7:30 p.m. March 13 at 3 p.m. Streaming begins March 26 Set to the back drop of a popular Parisian club, vibrant characters of the day gather for a night of dancing and romance. The program opens with fresh, original choreography by veteran company members—a season highlight! Includes live musical accompaniment by the Manassas Ballet Theatre Orchestra.

May 20–21 at 7:30 p.m. May 21- 22 at 3 p.m. Streaming begins June 4 The magic of Cinderella closes out Manassas Ballet Theatre’s (MBT) 2021-2022 season. This fairytale ballet celebrates one of the most famous happily ever after stories ever told. A lush production set to the musical score of Sergei Prokofiev and performed live by the Manassas Ballet Theatre Orchestra brings Cinderella’s story to life in an enchanting ballet experience for all ages!

Saturday, October 9 at 7:30 p.m. Join the 100-voice Chorale, its smaller Ensemble, and the top choirs from select local high schools as they celebrate popular tunes from the 1920s, as well as favorite stage and screen melodies of 2020.

Saturday, December 11 at 7:30 p.m. Get into the spirit of the season with the full Chorale and its 20-piece live orchestra in this popular concert of festive carols and popular holiday songs the whole family will enjoy!

WONDER, LOVE AND PRAISE

Saturday, March 19 at 7:30 p.m. The Chorale joins forces with the Voices United Workshop Choir, a guest clinician, and a lively orchestra to “raise the roof” in this annual concert of sacred music that includes toetapping spirituals, beautiful melodies, and stunning arrangements.

YESTERDAY, TODAY AND TOMORROW

Friday, June 3 at 7:30 p.m. Take a musical journey with the Chorale, its smaller ensemble, orchestra, and the Greater Manassas Children’s Choir for an evening of music that features “time” as a central theme (songs include “Yesterday,” “Today,” and “Tomorrow.”) Student singers in Grades 2-8 join adults in this moving performance that closes Manassas Chorale’s 28th season.

Free Parking!

Parking

Convenient, free parking is available for all Hylton Center events in the lot adjacent to the Hylton Center with ample wheelchair accessible parking in the lot near the main entrance. There is a passenger drop-off area directly in front of the main entrance.

Visiting the Ticket Office

Purchasing or exchanging a ticket? The Hylton Center Ticket Office is open Tuesday—Saturday 10 a.m.—6 p.m. and 2 hours prior to all performances.

Performance Times

The Hylton Center strives to start all performances on time. Please allow extra time to reach the venue and to check in and be seated. Patrons arriving after the start of a performance will be seated at the discretion of house management and as dictated by artists’ requirements. Most performances will have an intermission.

Cancelations

Extraordinary circumstances, such as weather or public health concerns, may cause an event to be canceled, or rescheduled. Change alerts are emailed to all ticket holders and posted on our website.

Youth Discount Tickets

Half-price tickets are available for children and youth through Grade 12 for all Hylton Presents events. (No discounts are available for the Leslie Odom, Jr. performance.) Children through Grade 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Students Grades 9–12 may attend without an adult, but must have a valid student ID.

Pre and Post-Performance Discussions ppd

Some performances are accompanied by a lively forum led by local experts or the artists themselves. Discussions are sponsored by the Friends of the Hylton Center and format will vary in fall 2021. The pre-performance discussions begin one hour prior to the performance start time, and are designed to provide a deeper understanding of the forthcoming performance. They are free to ticket holders.
