FOREWORD Hello friends of the Club, and welcome to this wintry, festive edition of the Club?s Newsletter - I hope that this finds you all well. Having had the privilege of reading through the pages of this newsletter ahead of writing my foreword I am struck by the excellent character and quality of the young people/players we have associated with this Club. Whether through their footballing or extra curricular activities and achievements, they are all thriving. This epitomises the essence of what the Club exists to facilitate. Well done everyone! My sincere thanks goes to all the volunteers across the club who continue to work hard all week long to ensure that the environment is right to deliver development, fun and football to all our players (250+!) across all ages. You all have a part to play in creating the right environment too and there is an excellent article which emphasises this from Mr Thornton. Please ensure that your Club continues to be a welcoming and friendly environment to players from home and away teams, spectators and coaches alike by conducting yourselves in an appropriate and respectful manner on the sidelines. Encourage, celebrate, cheer - but let the coaches coach their team and avoid: instructing players, aggression or hostility. Call out bad behaviors with my, the Club and the FA?s full support..? Report any concerns in confidence to the Clubs?CWO or me directly.

FOREWORD Speaking of your role, there are lots of ways to get involved with supporting the Club, as you will see, and we are seeking volunteers for a range of activities from U6 parent helper/coach to match day assistants. There are loads of opportunities for the younger Club members too through both our Referee training program or the County FA?s Youth Council. The community support witnessed in recent weeks has been excellent and I would like to send a personal, heartfelt thanks to all those associated with the Club that supported the Catterick Village Remembrance Day Parade. Winter is very much upon us and game time is likely to be squeezed as we fight the losing battle against the elements. The recent storms and freezing spell meant that we had to cancel football, which is always done with the safety and welfare of our players as the priority. We hope you will understand this and wholeheartedly support us. As I write this, the air is filled with Christmas songs and the kid?s joyous laughter, beckoning in the festive season, a time for family, selflessness and community spirit. What better example is there of this than the CVSA?s annual Santa Sleigh Ride, which I would implore you all to support for 5 minutes or 5 hours - whatever you can spare (details contained below). It just remains for me to wish you and your loved ones a very happy Christmas and a healthy and happy New Year. Thank you, James Maguire

WELFARE (SAFEGUARDING) The CWO ensures the club meets its responsibilities when running activities for children and young people. The CWO ensures the club personnel understand what their ?duty of care? towards children and young people means and entails on a day to day basis. Catterick Village Junior Football Club takes the safeguarding and welfare of everyone at the club seriously. We ask that if you have any concerns, questions or you see or hear anything please contact the Child Welfare Officer by phone or email who will be happy to arrange a convenient time to discuss the issue and take the necessary steps to resolve the matter.

WELFARE (SAFEGUARDING) Th e decision t o can cel a Gam e!! It's easy to criticise the decision to cancel a game, but before you do just take a second to think what has gone into making that decision first. 1 - Is it safe for everyone and is the forecast safe? 2 - Is it currently playable and what is the forecast? 3 - Is there a weather warning in place now or whilst the game is on? 4 - Will the pitch drain water or thaw frost in time? 5 - What's the temperature forecast now, overnight and during the game? 6 - What time is KO and how far are the opposition travelling to play the match? 7 - If it's a central venue, more people will be affected, is an earlier decision better? 8 - Will the damage caused from one game affect the pitch condition and cause subsequent postponements in the coming weeks? 9 - Are the venue allowing fixtures to take place? A lot of council pitches are closed by the council so the club may have no choice in the decision. Sometimes a decision to cancel is made at the last minute if there is a a belief that the game may genuinely be playable, other times an early decision will be made. All decisions are made with the available information at the time and the changing weather ?forecasts?. Often the decision is right, sometimes the decision can "in hindsight" appear wrong due to many factors: drainage, temperature, wind etc but always the decision is made in good faith; player safety and welfare is the priority! Many times we've personally made these decisions and know it's not an exact science. As coaches we still have work to do once a game is called off: notifying the opposition, referee, league and of course our own squads. We have been preparing all week for the game so would not wish for all that work to go to waste unnecessarily. It's easy to criticise the people making the decision, but remember that whilst you're sat at home warm, they have actually gone down to check the facility and made the decision with your child's safety their first thought.

WELFARE (SAFEGUARDING) Ch ar t er St an dar d & Tou ch lin e Beh aviou r ! A w r it e u p by Bob Th or n t on There has been a lot of publicity recently regarding behaviour at football matches both in the professional game and at grass roots level and proposals on how to deal with this. We are very fortunate to live in an area where we do not see some of the excesses that have been occurring nationally and hopefully the work that we do with the club, and in cooperation with the North Riding County FA, will ensure that we are all moving in the right direction to remove this blight from the game. It is essential that, as a club, we continue to ensure that all that take part from players, coaches, officials and spectators do so in a safe and enjoyable manner. Reading these articles recently made me reflect on how we are still debating this subject more than 20 years on from the FA Charter Standard which was introduced to encourage clubs to raise standards of coaching and the safety and well being for all those taking part in grass root football. There is no doubt that at that time there was room for a lot of improvement! For those that have been at the club some time they have probably heard some of this before but more recent members may be interested to know that as a club we were proud to be asked to be part of the national pilot scheme to discuss and take on the problems that were occurring at that time. This all came to fruition by the start of 2001 when the club were awarded with the Charter Standard Certificate at the National launch on 1st February 2001 at the Lancashire Football Association headquarters in Preston. One of only 50 junior football clubs in the whole of the country to do so. A very proud moment! The above photograph shows the presentation by Adam Crozier the FA Chief Executive, Jamie Redknapp ( then at Liverpool FC) and Clare Groves the event manager and of course yours truly!

WINTER TRAINING As the club has grown over the past few years we have had to source additional venues for holding our midweek winter training sessions. To provide these training sessions on the same night for all squads (as we always have in the past) we now operate these training sessions across 3 different sites, these being * Richmond School * Marne Barracks * Wavell Road A lot of time has gone into securing these additional sites so we ask that all members of CVJFC respect the rulings put in place by each of them. These include the following, * Ensuring we wear the correct footwear - if you are unsure then please speak to your coach * Arriving and Departing on time - this is critical for ensuring that all squads get the maximum amount of time to train during their allotted 1 hour time slot * Using the correct road system at the venues. We have been warned of cars using the exit side of the car park when entering Richmond School. This must stop * NO SM OKING or VAPING pitch side at any of the 3 facilities, as well as at Catterick Village Sports Fields. We are frequently being made aware of this issue and risk losing the venues if this continues to take place. Winter midweek training will take a break over the Christmas period, with the following dates being applicable to all three sites.

CLUB NEWS CVJFC Join Local Com m u n it y t o Pay t h eir Respect s On Remembrance Sunday (12th November), coaches and players along with families and friends joined the rest of the local community on Low Green to pay their respects to the fallen alongside regiments from Marne Barracks and RAF Leeming. With many personnel across the whole club and local community, either serving or with close ties to HM Armed Forces, this represented a poignant occasion to mark. CVJFC took part with the laying of a club wreath in what is now an annual tradition. Our thanks from the club to Ross Stevens (U10 Coach) who has organised our participation for the past couple of years. Pictured below is Ranulph from Ross's U10 squad who represented the club by attending the Church service and laying the wreath at the memorial. We would also like to express our thanks to all squads who postponed any fixtures for the day so members all had the opportunity to attend the parade.

CLUB NEWS Cor ey becom es ou r lat est qu alif ied r ef er ee f r om w it h in t h e clu bs player s. Congratulations to Corey Tunmore who has recently qualified as a referee for the North Riding County FA. Corey is a member of our U16/17 squad and joins both Jack Hankin and Harry Cooper as members of that particular squad who have now qualified as referees. We are extremely proud that we have now helped 3 members of the club progress to gain this qualification. Corey is now refereeing games on a regular basis for CVJFC and for other clubs within the local area. Refereeing is a great way for the members of the club to assist with their learning of the game whilst earning some money. If you are interested in doing the same then please speak to a member of the club who will help direct you towards the correct course. If you are aged 14+ and interested in becoming a referee for the club then please get in touch by emailing your details to in f o@cat t er ick villagejf c.n et so we can then share the next steps with you. Referees are vital for the game and without them there is no match. The club will provide you with matches to officiate once qualified across our different age groups.

CLUB NEWS CVJFC U17 Ref er ee join s t h e Nor t h Ridin g Cen t r e of Ref er ee Excellen ce As our club continues to support the North Riding County Football Association in providing the next generation of match officials, Jack Hankin from our U17 squad has recently joined the Centre of Referee Excellence. The CORE programme is designed to deliver specific and relevant training to ambitious, dedicated and talented referees who have the desired behaviours and attitude to succeed. The first of a programme of monthly training camps was held at Middlesbrough Body text FC's Riverside Stadium in September and Jack has undertaken additional training that includes application of the Laws of the Game, practical development sessions, leadership skills and mental resilience. Regular communication with his assigned referee coach provides Jack with all the support he needs as he develops and gains experience as a match official, and this has led to referee appointments at the Middlesbrough FC Academy and County Cup matches.

CVSA NEWS The Cat t er ick Village Spor t s Associat ion (CVSA) is a charitable body responsible for the management and maintenance of the Sports Fields and Pavilion in Catterick Village. The CVSA is made up of local junior and senior sports teams and volunteers from the local community. HISTORY Catterick Village Sports Association (CVSA) was formed over 20 years ago in 1996 when plans were first put together to replace the rotting old wooden huts that were used for the Youth Club and as changing rooms for the sports teams with a proper purpose built building. The sports field at that time was owned and maintained by the District Council who declared that as part of the agreement to let the building proceed that the future maintenance and upkeep of the ground would have to be through a nominated party within the village. This was originally the Parish Council with the Sports Association formed to manage the facility on their behalf. The Sports Association originally consisted of members of the Senior and Junior Football Clubs, the Cricket Club and representatives of the Parish Council. The responsibility and lease for the field was then transferred entirely to the Sports Association, who had become a registered charity, when the field was extended in 2009.

If you are interested in volunteering with the CVSA to help with the upkeep of the facility, please email details to

COMMERCIAL NEWS CVJFC w elcom es n ew Roses spon sor s The past 6 months has been an extremely busy period for all involved in getting the Roses section up and running. From the initial conversations in April, work started to create an all girls section at the club. This was up and running by June when we were approached by a group of ladies who asked about joining the Roses section and forming our first ever ladies team. As you will see in the upcoming squad write ups, the entire Roses section has been a huge success. With forming a new section within the club came the requirements to get the girls and ladies in match kits. This has brought the club a lot of new sponsors and we are grateful to each of them for their commitment to helping this new venture look the part from the very beginning. We welcome to the family the following businesses who have all supported the Roses section: Starling Bank (via Gift of Kit) Just Leasing PlasticBoxShop Pitman Training Securefit Creations Swale Scaffolding James Wallace Golf Mil-SMART Nova Aesthetics Three Little Birds The girls and ladies have also been involved with the design of their kits each step of the way. We hope you all agree that the kits look smart.

Roses

Gr ow t h , Developm en t , New Fr ien ds & Fu n ! From an idea that started with discussions at a Spanish tournament in April, to our first training sessions in June, we are incredibly proud of what has been achieved with our Roses in such a short period of time. With the full support of everyone at Catterick Village Football Club, our dedicated girls section has grown to the point where we have separated training into age appropriate sessions. Our U16 squad has increased in numbers to include 20 playing members, while we have 15 members making up our 11-14 year old group. Along with the club's backing we are grateful for the assistance of the North Riding FA who have been fully supportive in establishing the girls section and we were pleased to be granted Squad Girls status in July, providing us with access to further assistance, resources and equipment, and allowing us to provide access to non-competitive football for any girls aged 12-14 who want to give football a try. Our girls come from a variety of backgrounds in terms of football experience with some regularly turning out for their school teams, to those who had rarely kicked a ball before. With this in mind the coaching team has worked hard to ensure training sessions are designed to ensure development for all players regardless of experience and ability, while ensuring that the sessions are engaging and fun. Throughout the Summer and Autumn we have concentrated on developing both individual and team skills designed to improve ball control, spacial awareness and movement around the pitch.

This has involved activities that include passing, dribbling and shooting techniques, attack v defence scenarios, pass and move drills and fitness, along with throwing in the odd fun game or team building exercise to break up the session. Our approach appears to be the right one given the numbers of regular attendees at our training sessions. When we first started the process of establishing a girls section we re-designed the club badge to reflect what we hoped we could achieve and to provide the girls with an identity that they could be proud of. We therefore introduced the yellow rose to indicate "friendship" and we couldn't be happier with the way our girls have adopted our ethos, making new friends and talking regularly with each other in their own chat group. Since it's inception, we have also been working hard in the background to secure match and training kits for the girls squads and details of our new sponsors are covered in the Commercial Section of this newsletter. As we move into the new year we intend to schedule a number of friendly games for our squads as we continue our preparation for entry into a girls league in the 24/25 season. Our girls section is open to anyone who wishes to join us regardless of experience or ability and as we plan ahead with the development of competitive teams, we would welcome any new additions to our squads. Details of our winter training schedule are shown on the next page and for further information about the Roses or Squad Girls please email: r oses@cat t er ick villagejf c.n et A few thank you's to: Our new sponsors: Pitman Training, Just Leasing, Swale Scaffolding, Securefit Creations and The Plastic Box Shop Our Coaches & Helpers: Paul, Jack, Shaun, Libby, Emma & Louise Our Support: Daz, Ryan, James and the CVJFC family - we would not have achieved the early success we have had to date without the backing from all of you.

Cat t er ick Village Roses Ladies Team Kick Of f Th eir Fir st Season in t h e Nor t h Ridin g Wom en s Leagu e What started as a conversation and small vision, developed rapidly into a new team being constructed- CATTERICK VILLAGE ROSES LADIES. After some hard work behind the scenes from members of the Committee and tireless meetings, ideas, social media ?coffee chats?, we were able to put on a first ever training session for the new ladies setup. An unbelievable turnout of 20 players was a lot more than we anticipated and planned for!! Fast forward a few months and the team found themselves placed into the North Riding Women?s league, a strong and highly competitive league and not the league we had seen ourselves playing in as a brand new team! Ever the professionals, it was all taken well by the players who relished the challenge and were keen to try and compete with some good, well established teams. Working hard in training and friendlies throughout the summer, we found ourselves ready and chomping at the bit for our first game.

Roses - Ladi es

After a narrow loss in what was the teams first ever competitive match, and for some players a first match ever, the team could be so proud of where they had come from in such a short space of time. After a few more tight games, the team were finally able to record their first 3 points with a win at home! The ladies section has continued to grow, which is amazing to see and we now boast a squad of nearly 30 players. The commitment of each of them to training, matches and being open to learning something new for some of them is a pleasure to be a part of. We continue to develop ourselves each week week in training and the attitude shown by the players on match days, even when it?s not going the way they hoped, is an attribute they should be proud of and continue to have throughout the remainder of the season. The team can even look forward to hosting a major outfit in Middlesbrough Ladies U23 in the cup in the new year. This Ladies section has so much potential and I?m invested to see what will become of it. A big thank you to each supporter who braves the now cold Sundays to come and watch, it?s always a nice turnout and I?m sure the players get a lift when you're cheering them on. We would like to thank our sponsors, James Wallace Golf, MilSMART, NOVA Aesthetics and Two Little Birds for their support to the team. Also a big thank you to the Farmers Arms for being our Hosting venue for our after match social.

M id Table St ar t To New U17 Season After a year to remember for all of the boys we moved into the new season for the U17 league and kept the majority of the squad together which is fantastic to see, especially with some of the older players starting college/apprenticeships and the world of work. And now driving lessons too (stay off the roads everyone, we've seen how some of them shoot!!) After 8 games the team are sat 6th having won 5 of those games and suffering 3 defeats. Results have never been the main focus for this group of players but it is pleasing to see in some of the games where they have outplayed the opposition that this has been rewarded for them with a win. The recent away game at Ilkley highlighted what this group of players are capable of doing to teams. It has also been pleasing to see the reaction when we have gone behind in games. The heads haven't dropped. Instead the squad have rolled up their sleeves and tried to play themselves back into the game. The boys continue to work for each other and put the effort in on the training pitch which is great to see. One of these days they may believe us when we tell them that they are one of the better footballing teams in the league and they are capable of competing against anyone when they get the ball down and play football. It is also really pleasing to see the bond between the players continue to grow, which starts on a matchday with the way they all are in the dressing room. This is something implemented last

U16/ 17

season and has created a great vibe and atmosphere between the squad on our home match days, although the taste in music played (if you can call some of it music) is dodgy at times. We have a couple of games left this side of Christmas, as long as the weather doesn't stop these, before we move into a period of games each week in the new year. Finally, the coaches would like to congratulate Corey on becoming a qualified referee. He now joins both Jack and Harry from this squad of players, with all 3 of them now refereeing games within the club. Busy weekends for these lads now.

Det er m in ed U15 Squ ad expect in g u pt u r n in f or t u n es as pr epar at ion s f or t h e w in t er f ixt u r es con t in u e. This month has seen great progress within the U15 squad. With coach Rik away in Oman we have welcomed Martin into the coaching team. At the start of the month we travelled to Top of the League, Ripon City Panthers. We only had 10 available players but credit to the 10 that went down and gave a good account of themselves. The game was fairly even but with the opposition having the ability to freshen it up it wasn't to be. 2-0 down and then down to 9 after a player was sent off for a goal line clearance. But he was 'protecting his face' . With heavy legs and a player less it ended up 5-0 to the home team. Then of course the weather hindered much of the footballing schedule for the month. But on our next outing we set about putting into practice what we have been doing in training (when we could train). This time we welcomed 2nd in the league to the village. This time round we tried to set up a bit more positively and take it to the other team. In a scrappy first half we conceded 2 quite scrappy and unfortunate goals. Coming back for the 2nd half we went toe-2-toe with Beckwithshaw and the 2nd half ended in a stalemate, 0-2 at full-time. Our hunt for goals goes on but the performances are coming on. Coach Rik is due back from Oman soon so we'll be more than ready for the winter fixtures, weather permitting of course.

Training Days: Tuesday 19:00 - 20:00 at Marne Barracks Saturday 09:00 - 10:30 at Catterick Village Sports Field

U14 ?New Season New Ch allen ges? Our under 14s Squad are currently playing in the Harrogate and District A League after being promoted Last Season. This was confirmed after finishing in the Top 2 in the B Division and was a reward after an excellent Season of Football going Unbeaten at Home. This Promotion also started a new season, with different challenges against new Teams, new Players and has shown an increase in the pace, speed of the game and the standard of Football. This is a New Challenge for our Players which they are responding to and will further develop their understanding of the game and improve them as footballers.

?Toget h er n ess? We have 19 Players from Last Season registered and have another 3 new Players, with a good Training Squad who attend every session Tuesday and Saturdays. Although we have Players from 4-5 Different Schools, they all combine as one TEAM when Training and Playing for Catterick Village. This Togetherness and Team Work really shines through when the Squad is Together with ALL Players supporting each other and helping in Training and Matches.

?At t it u de, At t en dan ce, Ef f or t & ? ? ? ? ? Our Strength as a TEAM has always been achieved through hard work in training, teamwork in matches and by following our three Team Core Values. Attitude, Attendance and Effort. By following these core values, we have grown as a Team and everywhere we go and play we show these Values and represent our Players and Club in the best light. This Season has been extremely challenging as a Coach as the Standard of Football is much higher in this League BUT throughout this Season, I now believe we have added another Team Core Value to our Three making it Four. The Players have showed this throughout the Season and how ever tough the Matches have been we?ve always exhibited the new Fourth Team Core Value.

?Resilien ce? This is extremely rewarding as a coach to see the whole Squad not only improving as Football Players but also as people. Many of our Matches this Season have been Tough with some Draws and Loses but we have never, ever given up as a TEAM. We have shown Resilience and have fought for every Tackle, Shot, Save, Goal and Match. This Mentality of never ever giving up will help us in the rest of the Season and the Players Resilience will enable them to grow as People throughout the year helping them not only on the Football Field but in life.

U13 U13 Con t in u e t o sh ow Pr ogr ess The U13 squad has come a long way playing as a team and have gelled so well. As the squad continues to work on developing both collective and individual skills they have become a team that is very enjoyable to watch. The squad has played 5 games so far this season, winning 4 of them with only one loss. We are looking forward to seeing what they can achieve in the second half of the season. Jay Lowe

Ch allen gin g st ar t t o n ew season f or U12's The U12s have had a challenging start to the season with new faces in the team and a few outgoings too, they've all had to settle in at Secondary school which is a big step in their lives, however they are now starting to see the benefits of a settled squad. They continue to develop and challenge themselves week after week, playing in a new scheduled week where they now train Tuesdays and play Saturday's in the Richmondshire and Hambleton league followed by playing on a Sunday still in the Harrogate League. Some have found this rewarding and some have found this challenging.

U12 Most recently the team took some time out from league duties and was invited by their neighbours Catterick Garrison Football Centre to take part in 5 a side Competition. This proves to be very competitive, both team fielded 3 teams each. After the group stages it went straight to the semi finals where all three teams from the Garrison and one from the Village contested for the finals. Working out brilliantly where the final was one from each team with the overall winners being the Village A team winning on penalty shootout with Cooper saving a penalty and JJ with the decisive penalty to win our first silverwear, we will look to host a similar tournament in the new year. As always we continue to thank our Team and club sponsors for their continued support and a massive thank you to our dedicated parents for their continued support also.

Lot s of Tr an sit ion f or U11's At the end of last season, the squad and coaches knew they had some big challenges ahead of them. Not only losing 6 players from the squad but also the introduction of new rules, including offsides, no retreat, larger pitches, and moving from 7 to 9 a side. The coaches decided that once the last 2022/2023 league fixture had been completed, they would start the transition immediately across to the U11?s. During pre-season they started with an inter-club friendly against the current U12?s to help support this transition. This match was an immediate eye opener to what lay ahead. With the squad always keen to play ?proper football?, retain possession and play out from the back, the no retreat rule was starting to cause a few issues. It was clear there was a lot more work to do to get ready for the start of the new season in a new league. It was at this point that the squad was entered into their first ever tournament all the way up in Sunderland. The idea of the tournament was to gain experience, keep working on the new shape and bond as a new squad. With no recognised keeper, special thanks go to Ben and Ava for stepping up and rotating throughout the day. During the three group games the squad exceeded all expectations, playing some attractive football and dominating all three games. They were not always able to apply the finish to some great moves, but did finish the group unbeaten, having won 1 and drawing the other 2. Going into the quarter-final once again with no expectations other than to have fun and gain experience, the players were

U11 starting to grow in confidence. The result was decided via a penalty shoot-out, which unfortunately didn?t fall their way. The disappointment by the players was overshadowed by how proud the coaches and parents were of the whole squad. The start of the new season saw the squad play their first ever Sunday match in the Harrogate & District league against Wigton Moor. The squad have had some mixed results as they enter the unknown of a new league but continue to play the ?right way? and with a smile on their faces. The squad continue to train on a Tuesday evening, with additional development fixtures where possible on Saturdays. The squad were very fortunate to register no few than 7 new players at the start of the season, who have settled in seamlessly and look like they have been with the squad for several years.

Training Days: Tuesday 19:00 - 20:00 at Richmond School Saturday 09:00 - 10:30 at Catterick Village Sports Field

Un der 10 Pan t h er s The under 10 Panthers have enjoyed a very busy pre-season period. We had continued our weekly training sessions as well as entering numerous tournaments, where the boys gained some excellent experience playing against academy level teams. Regular local friendly fixtures allowed the team to practice new techniques ready for the season ahead. The management team have been busy in the summer transfer market, adding 2 new players to the Panthers ranks. We welcomed our new shot stopper Max and our speed machine David, both boys instantly settled and have been a great addition to our squad. The boys were extremely happy with the fund-raising total from their 5km sponsored run which were spoken about in the last newsletter. The boys are now particularly proud to wear their club tracksuits and training kits. We even had enough money left over for an end of season trip to Jump 360, which were fully deserved for all the boy?s efforts during last season.

U10 We have now advanced our training sessions where we are working on positive passing football. Our main learning objective for the next 3 months is to be comfortable with the ball at their feet and playing the right pass, whilst encouraging the boys to make their own choices. The key phrase we are working with is ?football intelligence?.

The boys have made an excellent start to their under 10 campaign. We have played 5 league games where we have been victorious in 4 and defeated in only 1.

The team had a pleasant surprise at a recent fixture at Richmond School where the home team were visited by the Prime minister Rishi Sunak. The PM couldn?t refuse the opportunity to have a photo with the mighty Panthers.

U9 Squ ad get t o gr ips w it h n ew playin g f or m at Both Under 9?s teams have enjoyed a great start to the season before the monsoon rainfall came in November!! They have adapted well to the new 7v7 format on the larger pitch and continue to improve week on week. The Panthers are playing in the Hambleton & Richmondshire Junior Football League and have had a few good wins with plenty of goals being scored throughout the team. The Jaguars are playing in the Harrogate & District Football League. Despite playing a year up against U10?s and having a tough couple of opening fixtures, the team have settled into the new league and have recorded some great wins. Some of the football has been great to watch as the boys quickly realised that they would need to play football around the bigger U10?s as they couldn?t just run through them! Training has been going great and it has been fantastic to see both teams putting the things we have been working on in training into the matches. Our passing & moving into space sessions are paying off and the boys are really starting to get in good positions which is resulting in some great football to watch. The attacking overload and shooting sessions are also proving successful as we are seeing a lot more goals being scored. Both teams are now looking nice and smart as we have recently received our new kit. We would like to thank our new sponsor RR Plumbing, Heating and Bathrooms who funded the new kit. If you need any plumbing, heating or bathroom undertaking, please get in touch with them for a quote on 07946 792954 or rrplumbingandheating@gmail.com

U9 On 5th November we undertook a sponsored 5km run to raise some money for the squad so we can buy some more clothing (tracksuits etc). The boys started out at The Station in Richmond, ran to Easby Abbey, did a few laps of the Abbey while doing some parkour as we went round and then back to the station for an ice cream and well-earned rest!

The squad managed to raise over £2,150 between them so there will be plenty of goodies beings ordered for everyone and any leftover funds will go towards an end of season trip (to be decided by the players). The prize for the most money raised by the players goes to Euan Reid who raised a fantastic £275!!! A great start to the season for both teams and we look forward to watching the teams continues to develop and enjoy their football for the rest of the season. Stu & John

A Gr ow in g Squ ad & Con t in u ed Developm en t After a delayed start to the season, the U8 have really taken a leap forward this season. Can we just give a shoutout to Guy and Danny for stepping in to train the players, it really helped the players to allow them not to have to miss football. And probably gave them a welcome break from Adam, Jack and Jason :). Continuing the hard work that was put in developing themselves last season and throughout the season the teams have really started to implement what they work on in training on a Tuesday to match days on a Saturday. Always looking at continued development we are now in a position that we can start to really focus on some of the more technical and tactical aspects of football which is a real testament to the hard work of each player. As an age group we are still growing and new players are continuously wanting to join. This has seen us grow to a squad of roughly 20 players and a new coach too. As we move into the new year, it will again see us go and play indoors for the first part of 2024 but this will no doubt provide the players with another new challenge I?ve no doubt they will take within their stride. Our thanks go out, as always to the parents and spectators who watch each week. They are always in high spirits and give real encouragement to the players, so thank you for that!! We would also like to thank our sponsors, The Performance Culture for their continued support.

U7 Cat t er ick Village Un der 7's Jagu ar s It?s been amazing coaching this group of players so far and it?s nice to finally be playing league matches for the first time. I know that they are all loving it and have taken to it so well, a lot of them I?ve coached at the under 6's and they moved up with me. There?s a few new faces amongst the team and it?s a pleasure that they?ve settled in so well and already become such a massive part of the team Weather hasn?t been the fairest to us as a team this season. We?ve played a total of 5 games out of 7, frustrating but the kids always come back and go form where they left off previously. The way every single child has come on in such a short space of time is brilliant. The friendly we played against rockets before the season started that we lost by a massive scoreline, we looked a bit all over the place and no one was talking to when we played them in the league just 6 weeks later and won 9-2 is a massive turn around and it just proves all of the hard work that everyone has put in and the bond we have as a group of players. The main focus is enjoyment and I know that everyone is enjoying the time on the pitch. All your smiles are what I turn up for and to see you enjoying your football makes it that much easier to enjoy the football you're playing. Love seeing the wide variety of goal scorers we have seen so far this season ie (Connie, Alfie HP Darcie and even a goal from our goalkeeper Toby that I can?t not mention) keep up the hard work guys and more and more will come, hopefully from Toby The scoring goalkeeper. A very big shout out to our sponsor BAYDALE control systems, the kids looks amazing in their kits and 3 quarter jackets. Appreciate all the work behind the scenes that Lee has done to

get this all sorted and get his credit card out (work one of course). Last of all I?d like to say a massive well done to someone who had a very nasty injury while he playing out with friends. Eli broke his collar bone. Missed every friendly and the first game of the season. When he returned we could tell he wasn?t his usual self and after a long chat together we got to the bottom of what was bothering him and he?s finally taken that worry off his shoulders and is playing the football that I know me and his parents love to see ripping it up at the front of the attack scoring goals like he does best, so massive well done for working as hard as you have to get back to where you were after such a nasty injury. UP THE VILLAGE and may the enjoyment and smiles continue.

Cat t er ick Village Un der 7's Pan t h er s It?s been a great start to the season for our U7 panthers. We?ve won one and lost 2, but considering it?s our first year in a competitive league I couldn?t be any prouder of the kids. Unlike many teams we have a lot of squad members which can sometimes be a challenge to get them playing as a team. But they?ve all listened to the coaches and we?re really starting to see them working as a unit. Most importantly they all seem to enjoy it and keep coming back for more which is all we can ask for.

In October as part of the Disney Shooting Stars Primary School Girls' Football Festival, U16 Roses players Charlotte, Lily-Mae and Lily-Ann were among the young sports leaders at Richmond School who led a key stage 1 football skills event designed with the use of Disney stories to develop fundamental movement skills and physical literacy with the use of a football. A cross country event held at Richmond School was attended by over 1000 primary school participants. The event was supported by young sports leaders in yrs 9 & 10, including Roses players Lily-Ann and Isla. With 35 primary schools taking part, the sports leaders were charged with starting the races, marshalling, and timing.

A double header for Richmond School girls squads against Tadcaster Grammar saw mixed success for the U13 and U15 teams. CVJFC U12 and Roses player, Olivia featured for the U13 in a 5-4 thriller win, while the U15 went down to a 4-3 defeat despite the efforts from Roses players Lily-Mae (2 goals) and Emmy.

Roses players Lily-Mae and Emmy recently secured places at a German language and football camp. Flying solo for the first time in October, the girls enjoyed a week in Hamburg as guests of St. Pauli football club. Throughout the week, the girls practiced their language skills while taking part in training sessions, stadium tour, swimming, tree trekking, shopping and taking in a home game at St. Pauli Students in years 7-11 at Richmond School recently took part in the Area Cross Country Team Championships. Coming away with an impressive 5 trophies from 8 categories, the winning Yr 10& 11 team included Roses players Lily-Mae and Lily-Ann., with Lily-Mae coming first in her race.

In November Richmond School's Netball team travelled to Queen Mary's School to take part in the U16 Hambleton & Richmondshire Area Netball Tournament. Through fantastic determination and teamwork, the Richmond team that included Roses players Charlotte and Emma came 5th overall in the tournament.

EVENTS NEWS Help San t a t ou r Cat t er ick Village We need as many members of the club as possible to help us tour the Village alongside Santa, raising money for the Catterick Village Sports Association. This event takes place on Sat u r day 23r d Decem ber , meeting at The Bay Horse in Catterick Village at 2:30pm to depart at approx 2:45pm. Feel free to join the naughty elves for a tipple prior to the event. If you would like to join in and be a naughty elf please let Jason or Daz know so we can ensure we have enough costumes on the day. The sleigh ride is split into 2 sections with a halfway stop at the pavilion at approx 5:30pm so if you can only do one half then that's fine. We tour the village with the kids collecting donations from the houses of Catterick Village. These donations go towards the upkeep of the pavilion and playing fields. The event has become a tradition in the Village now where the residents look forward to seeing santa whilst we blast out Christmas music. The event finishes at approx 8pm at The Bay Horse where we all have a drink before going home. We really need as many of the younger teams to attend as possible. The kids do love it so please do come along and help us raise as much as possible.
