No Longer on Mute was developed during COVID-19 lockdowns in 2021 as a way of giving a voice to young people living in Greater Bendigo.
The title comes from the familiar experience of talking while being in an online forum, but finding that the microphone was still on mute.
In August and September 2021 young people were asked to submit a piece of text, up to 50 words; there was no set theme or genre.
From December 2021 the works that follow in this booklet were exhibited in Pennyweight Walk Open Air Gallery.
The works come from 93 people aged 3 to 25 living across the Greater Bendigo region.
We thank them for sharing these words. We hope that people reading what has been shared are moved, inspired and entertained.
We wish these writers the very best, and look forward to them continuing to be NO LONGER ON MUTE
