16TH ANNUAL LAS VEGAS GOLF CLASSIC
MAY
Dear Friends,

Because of you, the Coaches vs. Cancer Las Vegas Golf Classic keeps making a substantial impact on the fight against cancer. Yes, the event was once again the largest American Cancer Society golf event in the nation raising nearly $1.9 million in 2022. But the event has also become a catalyst of other efforts.
Within the past year, Coaches vs. Cancer launched our Set the Screen campaign, which was the mission focus of Suits And Sneakers Week in January 2023. The campaign directly addressed the 90% drop in cancer screenings during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly in underserved communities. Tragically, this drop is expected to result in thousands of preventable deaths.
Using our biggest platform of Suits And Sneakers Week, nearly 50 coaches around the nation teamed with a CEO in their respective market for the Set the Screen initiative. Together, the coaches and CEOs leveraged their influence to talk about cancer screening (targeting underserved communities), educated employees about screening, and raised funds to support the American Cancer Society’s screening initiatives. The campaign raised over $300K in its pilot year.
Much of the inspiration for Set the Screen came from relationships made with coaches and business leaders through the Las Vegas Golf Classic. And, as you may imagine, many of those participating in Set the Screen are a part of our Classic family.
So we’ve advanced to the 16th year of the Classic - as we like to say, we’ve made it to the Sweet 16. But we have a lot of work left to do to win the fight and help end cancer as we know it, for everyone. Thank you for competing with us.
