Commercial Portfolio
I enrolled in the photography program at Catawba Valley Community College (CVCC) because I thought it would be a fun class to embrace something that I enjoyed doing. I quickly learned there was a huge difference in being an amateur photographer versus a professionally educated photographer. There is lighting, patterns, shapes, rules of third and composition. While attending CVCC, I have been given the opportunity to explore different parts of photography, portrait, commercial, documentary and photojournalism, while working in a well-equipped studio with lighting, props and everything a photographer needs to create a portfolio. In this collection of work, I have focused on the commercial side of still lifes. Still lifes are one of the first subject’s artists created in the Middle Ages. One advantage of still lives is that the objects are inanimate and allows the artist a lot of freedom to experiment with the arrangement of the elements within the composition.
