About
Dianne Reese was born and raised in Catawba County, North Carolina. She spent her early adult life caring for her family. At the ripe old age of forty-nine, she decided to enroll at Catawba Valley Community College. Her chosen field of study was Photographic Technology, and in May, 2020 will have earned an A.A.S in Science. During the course of her studies, Reese has been published in a magazine, had an online publication, and displayed work in several exhibits. She loves photographing landscapes, historical sites, and anything outside the norm.
Rose
This portfolio is based on a poem by Tupac Shakur titled, “The Rose that Grew from Concrete”. It is a story about a rose that, despite the odds against it, grew from a crack in the concrete. This interpertation is very similar. It is about a girl that grew up in a bad neighborhood and made bad choices. She “grew from the concrete” and turned her life around. This is the story of Rose.

Photo Cubism
This portfolio showcases my newfound obsession, photo cubism. It is based on the cubism approach invented by Pablo Picaso and Georges Barque. In 1907-1908, the pair brought together different views of subjects (usually objects or figures) together in the same picture. This resulted in paintings that appeared fragmented and abstracted. Photo cubism is different in the fact that one subject is fragmented to get the cubism effect. Creating a photo cubism is time consuming, but the rewards are well worth it. Enjoy!
