Red Hawk Red Wine Label
Design Objective The objective was to create a new co-branded wine label “Red Hawk Red of CVCC and Catawba Farms. The label needed to express the partnership between the Alumni Association of CVCC and Catawba Farms, and create the marketing for the new brand. This project was a collaborative effort with Amber Cornell.
Design Brief The design for this wine label is the two feathers of a peacock and hawk crossing each other, which stands for the collaboration of the Alumni Association of Catawba Valley Community College (CVCC) and Catawba Farms. Both feathers are illustrated in Adobe Illustrator, following an artistic style. The peacock feather is created by paint brush strokes and detailed by hand-drawing to make it look smoother and enhance the artistic feeling. A script font and serif font are chosen for the wine label. The script font is going along with the shape of the two feathers creating grace and softness; while the san serif font is playing a role in creating a formal look and professionalism for the design. Black, red, gold, and cream are the color palette for this label. Red is picked from the CVCC official color palette to show more about the cooperation between the various elements.

City Harvest Food Desert
Design Objective City Harvest is a new initiative in Southeast Raleigh that exists to help address the issues related to “Urban Food Deserts. The objective was to create the branding that marked them as a helpful non-profit organization in the community and to design multiple advertising and marketing pieces such as brochures, posters, and more to spread their missions widely to the community.
Design Brief The logo and branding are a combination of modern and organic styles. The logo mark is a representation of donating food to the community. The sans serif font was used with the logo mark to bring a modern and simple look to the entire design. Orange and dark magenta were used as the main tones for the advertising pieces. They feature colors that are common to vegetables that contribute to the purposes of the organization as well as grab the visual attention of viewers. All the pictures used on the brochure and poster were placed in a circle shape. This design technique creates movement and matches the organic vibes suggested by the color theme.

NeoCuisine App
Design Objective The objective was to design an app by using Adobe XD that was not currently on the market and had unique features. The app needed to reach its target market, to be visually pleasing, and to make it easy for users to navigate. The interface should be creative and clean to get user interest, explore user experience, and invite user testing.
Design Brief NeoCuisine is designed to share the cooking experience of Asian food coming from five countries: Vietnam, China, Thailand, Korea and Japan. NeoCuisine has a useful and interesting feature called “Food Story” which mentions each food’s information based on Asian cultural aspects. The technology features a communication platform that allows people to follow others’ posts and make comments. Green was selected as the main color to convey the organic aspects of fresh vegetables that make up the primary contents of Asian dishes. The logo mark is the bowl of noodles with vegetables, representing a common food of Asia. A sans serif font is used to reflect the appearance and match with the organic style. Ideations such as thumbnails, storyboard, personas, and roughs were used to build the final app.

Bubble Bar
Design Objective The project objective was to create a full concept for the logo and branding for a new sweet shop that brings the branding and its product closer to people. The design needed to be fun, engaging, and grab the attention of the viewers. It also needed to be creative, unique, and professional for the company’s branding. An additional goal was to create a micro-site by using Adobe XD to build Bubble Bar’s event.
Design Brief Bubble Bar is a bubble milk tea brand, which serves all flavors of bubble milk tea. The logo mark is the cup of bubble tea in the middle of bubbles. The logotype, personally conceived and created by me, is considered the unique part of the logo and branding of Bubble Bar. The typeface is inspired from the bubbles, creating a bold and lively look. Orange, light blue, and light mint are the colors chosen for the color palette of Bubble Bar from the Pantone book. They have a high contrast when placed together, but do help each other pop-up by contrasting them in that way. The colors reflect the playful, cheerful, colorful and happy vibes that motivate people to try the brand. The micro-site is created in Adobe XD to build the Bubble Bar’s fall event as promotional materials for the sweet shop company.

Primazal
Design Objective The design objective was to create a pharmaceutical brand that is new to the market. Branding should reflect a strong logo–appropriate to the industry–while also keeping the target audience in mind. Other objectives include a trade show booth and a digital marketing campaign for an upcoming trade show.
Design Brief Primazal is a prescription medication that helps treat patients suffering from hypothyroidism and certain types of goiters. To introduce the brand into the industry, I used a limited color palette based on the pill’s colors, duo tone imagery, and a clean logo to emphasize the brand. The logo mark is designed based on the levothyroxine pill shape. The blue pill in the middle of two orange circle pieces stands for the balance hormone that Primazal will bring back into the treatment. This also creates the balance for the logo design as well. The logotype utilizes the typeface I created for the brand in lowercase letterforms.

Social Issue Posters
Design Objective The design objective was to create branding for Animal Rescue Organization (ARO) and to design a series of 3 social issue posters about animal abuse. This will mark the animal rescue team as a reliable organization and spread the message widely to the audience around the world.
Design Brief ARO is a non-profit animal rescue organization that helps and saves animals abandoned in local areas. The branding contains a paw mark that stands for the organization’s purposes, and the cyan color reflects hope and an organic feeling. The three posters feature the message of preventing animal abuse. The first poster demonstrates how dolphins are used for entertainment. The second poster shows that the sharks are killed for food. The last poster is about how tigers are killed for accessories. All three compositions use images manipulated in Adobe Photoshop with various effects and blending tools. The three posters are consistent from the concept to the color to create a depth and visual engagement, and to also spread the message against animal abuse.

Viet Luxie
Design Objective Creating a new, professional, and unique typeface is the goal of this campaign. The typeface would include both hand-rendered and digital versions. This typeface is also displayed on the interactive look book as a microsite created in Adobe XD.
Design Brief Viet Luxie is a script font designed by Huong Vo. The inspiration comes from my elementary memories when I first started practicing my handwriting in my country, Vietnam. This is a display typeface with beautiful uppercase letterforms. The swash appears most on uppercase letters, adding the sophisticated to the typeface. You will be pleased to use this typeface for various occasions that need free hand-writing style. Viet Luxie is perfectly suitable for creating nice typographic treatments for wedding stationery, greeting cards, invitations, and more. This font will contribute to the graceful and elegant feeling of your design.

Greeting Card
Design Objective The goal for this project was to create a fresh and eye-catching design to be embellished on a greeting card. The card had to have a unique concept about one holiday or event that is not commonly promoted in the market. The design needed to be creative, engaging, and stand out from other cards.
Design Brief This wedding card is created by a quilling technique — an art form that involves the use of paper strips that are rolled, shaped, and glued together to create decorative designs. The quilling mostly covers the bride’s dress and veil in white. Diamonds are a component that are attached and glued along some spaces on the dress to make the design look sparkling and brighter. Red is used as the background color and silver glitter is used around the edge to make the card shinier and stand out for weddings. A script font is used on the card, creating the graceful and elegant look that matches the wedding style.
